Lemstar. Why do you bother to reply when you only offer stupid comments, is your day that boring. If you actually bother to read what I followed on with is when making international purchases when I doubt my bank app would be of any use.

Pagallim, I agree in general and although “credit” I have always paid in full on the due date. I do of course have a Bangkok bank app on my phone which gets used regularly but it’s more if I want to make an international online purchase where I forsee a problem like renewing my antivirus or vpn or an Amazon item. If I have to do without so be it but curious about ways around these problems. I used to have a Bangkok bank debit card but never used as always used my bank app so got my cash refunded, and my atm card doesn’t have visa or Mastercard on it so probably not useable n many situations. I don’t have nor want PayPal so will take any problem as it arises I suppose. Thanks anyway.

For the first time in 50+ years I’m about to be without a credit card. My current supplier are changing their banking partners and so closing all accounts, not even transferring them to the new one. So online to apply and the first hurdle is only open to UK residents which I’m not . I do have a correspondence address but the next hurdle was they will contact you on your landline to confirm you are who you say you are. Even if getting over that one they then want a mobile phone number to send sms for security reasons when making a purchase and of course mine is a Thai number. Could give them my relatives number but if they get a sms in the early hours of a purchase I’m about to make it probably won’t get answered. So, what are the times when a credit card is essential for life to continue and I can think of very very few, so I’m sure there are some here who get by without one so any help or ways to get over problems or advice etc,.

Now mid seventies and often had problems rising to the occasion. On a visit to my doctor earlier this year I asked if she recommended Viagra and she discreetly wrote down Gracku and said this is better and a lot cheaper and so far while I cannot compare to viagra as never taken it but Gracku does the business for me and no side effects that I’m aware of.

She says she has to suffer the loss, but what happens if there are any winning numbers in the unsold tickets, does she/can she collect the winnings?

Thought you might like to hear of todays bank visit, you cannot really make this up. I have deleted the branch names as do not want to cause embarrassment to anyone as despite everything the girls behind the counter have been extremely helpful. One of the reasons for visiting xxx last week was to cancel my credit card and get my 50,000 baht back, firstly and quite ridiculously you can only do it in the branch you obtained it in in the first place. So into my bank in xxx to find although I had brought my credit card with me I completed forgot to bring the bank book related to it with me. Should that be a problem, well in Thailand of course it is. However to the tellers credit she did her utmost to sort out this ridiculous situation and finally after signing untold amount of forms she said that the money would be transferred to the branch here in xxx within the next 4 weeks. So yesterday Jit my wife got a telephone call telling us to go into the bank here to get my money, so off this morning we went. Firstly no one in the bank here has a clue about it so Jit phones the teller in xxx and then hands her phone to the teller in the bank here and the 2 tellers chat away to each other. Finally get back to us and it seems the teller in xxx missed one form that I was supposed to sign so now the whole process starts over again. Firstly xxx has to transfer the money to here, then I have to open a new credit card account here and then they transfer that money to my new credit card account and close the xxx one down. Then I have to cancel the new credit card account that I’ve just opened to get my cash back and then transfer the cash to my everyday bank account. I hope you’re still following all this! Then I sign a few more forms and get charged 253 baht for something or other and then she gives me back my passport and everyday bank book but not the credit card bank book. The teller thinks she has given it to me but we convince she didn’t so off she goes hunting for the book. Finally she finds it, somehow or other amongst all this paperwork she was doing the book slipped of the desk and found itself stuck behind the decorative wall covering of the bank, she cannot retrieve it so they have to get the odd job man to get it which means moving a desk away from the wall along with some machine and then poking around with sticks etc to hope it falls to the ground which eventually they succeed in doing and to everyone’s relief and a great many waiting customers totally mystified by what on earth is going on with this farang. We finally get a great many wai’s from the teller who even rushes to the door to open it for us and now have to wait on the telephone call to tell us that the money has been transferred between the banks and then return to the bank for more paperwork. Ironically I can on my phone here in Thailand with my uk bank accounts app and transfer money between accounts in seconds, send money to Wise to transfer it to Thailand in around 2 minutes and even the phone time is free because it’s all done with Wi-Fi. You really cannot make any of this up can you.

Probably next month I’ll be moving to a new permanent address within the same town, do I report and register change of address on the tm28 or tm30. Thanks for your forthcoming help.

About 30 minutes ago sitting under our ceiling fan going at full throttle to try to keep cool we heard a succession of small bangs. We immediately thought the fan elements were overheating and switched it off. Then a few minutes later the bangs started again but not coming from the fan. As my Thai lady walked over to the wall switches she felt like a mini earthquake coming from the floor and suddenly 5 large tiles rose up a millimetre or so with the grouting all spilling up around the edges. I’m not suggesting that we had an earthquake by any means but I assume that the extreme heat of late has probably caused some expansion in the tiles and with no room to go sideways they’ve gone upwards. The temp here yesterday reached 41 and currently it’s 40.
