  1. Thanks Joe. Now I need to convince my wife. I also sent an email to the embassy and they just replied basically stating that if we were legally married in Thailand then that wedding will be recognised not just in the uk but just about every other country as well. Where do Thai people get some of their ideas from?
  2. My Thai wife seems obsessed with the idea that we have to register our recent marriage with the British Embassy in Bangkok, to which i say there is no need to do so but she insists she's correct. So, is there a need to do so, is there a requirement to do so or is there even a facility to do so.
  3. I did this just last week, on my application form the T7, under reason for extension I put marriage to a Thai national and then supplied a mountain of paperwork. A few hiccups along the way as to be expected but all sorted and now waiting on application approved.
  4. I did it twice last week, my account is in Hua Hin and now I’m in Kamphaeng Phet and no hassles whatsoever although they do make small charges every time you use the atm or as I did make a deposit in the outside machine and got a charge of 20 baht. In Chaiyaphum earlier this year I bought a new iPhone and needed to transfer my banking app to the new phone and again done without question.
  5. Khaoyai. Why do you suggest I’m stupid. I have all the documents, yes all of them and yes we do have an appointment to be married and confirmed by the officer in the district office where we will get married at 9:00am tomorrow, would you like to come as a witness. I’m still of the opinion that at this moment in time is not a good time to leave the country to come back in again with the current covid requirements. I know the requirements are being eased but not quick enough for me. If it was like before covid I would have done it certainly in the past year or so. My fear is going to somewhere like Laos and not being able to get back in unless someone can convince me it’s easy and how to do it. It would be a better option to go back to the uk for a few weeks and see family I’ve not seen in 10 years and then return when re entering is relatively easy but not a good way to start married life being apart for a few weeks.
  6. PMbkk. Please read carefully what people write, We have all our required documents to do so, it was just a case of when we could get friends together and then set a date, immi is now setting the date for us.
  7. Dr. Jack. Yes I’ll be happy to report back if successful and tomorrow I’ll be taking some photos of us outside and inside the house. Already have many photos of us together and about to print them out now. Do they need to be in colour or will b and w suffice. In case I get further rejection I have 2 alternatives, waste more money on getting the 3 million baht insurance for the least outlay or leaving the country and return on a tourist visa then reapply for simple O extension which was what one of the friendlier officers suggested. My lady says we could simply pop over the border at Laos and just come straight back in, what are the current requirements to do that if needed. Thanks for some help Dr Jack. 16 years of obeying the rules with no problems and this crowd here seem to delight in making life difficult.
  8. Hopefully got it sorted as I said to my girlfriend how quickly can we get married in front of all these officers to which they laughed. I’ll be back on Thursday with my marriage certificate after getting married at 9:00 am and then the bank to get new bank letter and then off to immigration. We were intending to get married quite soon anyway and now it will be very soon. 16 years in Hua Hin and never ever one problem no matter what I was there for. 4 visits in 5 months here and hassles every time. And yes I had thought of registering in another province as my wife to be has a home in Chaiyaphum province but let’s just hope this time I’m successful.
  9. Went to Kamphaeng Phet immigration this morning to do my annual extension for OA retirement but they categorically refused my 800,000 health insurance insisting I have to have the 3 million one. I explained that that doesn’t come into effect until 1st September but they would not accept it. I showed them on my phone the rules from a website but they insisted on the paper they had in Thai I assume from higher up. The officer did accept that if I could show him that on the Thai government website he would accept it, but I cannot find it. I asked them to contact the head office for clarification but they refused to do so. Anyone point me to it.
  10. My Thai lady left early this morning for a hospital appointment in another province a couple of hours drive away. She just telephoned me to say she had arrived safely and was waiting to see the doctor and revealed to me that her daughter came with her as she was feeling rather tired. She says her daughter might well drive back home. Her daughter is 23 but to the best of my knowledge has never driven a car although my lady says she can drive but more importantly to me is she doesn’t have a licence and although my car has first class insurance I’m of the opinion that if she was to have an accident the insurance would be invalid and I could be sued for any third party damages plus damage to my own car wouldn’t be covered either. I’ve told her in no uncertain terms is she to let her daughter drive my car home. Am I right in my assumptions?
  11. With my first AstraZeneca jab after a couple of weeks my breathing became extremely bad, I do suffer from COPD so I went to my local clinic who put me on oxygen, gave me a jab of something and another medication to take daily for a week. They also took a blood test that proved positive for clotting and gave me blood thinners. 2 weeks later a blood test showed negative for clotting and I’ve had no more severe problems apart from my daily variation of breathing due to COPD. My second jab caused me no problems whatsoever. Was AstraZeneca the cause, who knows! My Thai lady had bad after effects with both her Moderna jabs for about 48 hours and then felt fine
  12. 15 years in Hua Hin at least for me and everything was straightforward, simple and minimal paperwork, now I’m experiencing the dead opposite, on my 90 day visit I asked what was their requirements for my annual extension, they handed me a TM7 with their stamp already on it plus all the blocks on the back where they put their own stamps, they even handed me a STM2 form to complete plus another that has no number but I have to sign acknowledging that I’m aware of the penalties for any wrongdoing, and then an instruction sheet all in Thai that I had to get my lady to translate for me. They do seem friendly though and I’ve not been given the impression that a brown envelope would make things easier.
  13. Dr. Jack, my limited experience in the province I now live in is that they’re very much jobsworths and love their paperwork and if they require a copy of every page of my passport including tm28 and my arrivals card from 12 years ago just for 90 day reporting then I’m going to take the kitchen sink with me for my annual extension and missing a bit of paper could have all sorts of hassles for me.
  14. Did my 90 day report a few weeks ago in person and the slip was attached to my passport by paper clip rather than stapled. Went to the bank last Tuesday to order my 12 months of bank statements and to which they made the usual passport copies and probably removed the slip and paper clip to make theirs copies and to which I’ve just discovered they didn’t put it back in my passport. My Thai lady just telephoned them but they cannot find it so will I have a problem when going to do my annual extension next week? Out of curiosity I went online to see if I could download a copy of it, I am registered but entering my passport number in the check status box it said words to the effect of doesn’t exist. So I tried to do a new one and filled in all the info and the end result was just a pdf of the 90 day report form with my particulars filled in, no rejection statement or that I’m doing it to early or any other message. Is this normal and all I have to do is wait?
  15. What is a rather sweeping statement. You know very well I’m referring to the general standard of driving which we all see every day.
  16. It happens to us all probably on a daily basis. Driving along a 4 lane highway on the way home yesterday and notice in my mirror someone driving at excessive speed down the outside lane. However roadworks approaching and I move out to the one open lane and the speeder who has caught up with me alarmingly quickly is now tailgating me and desperately trying to pass even though there is nowhere to do it. I wasn’t purposely preventing him getting past but saw no reason to pull over as we see driving like this frequently when out on the road. The roadworks finally ended and he put part of his car into the grass verge in his haste to get past me and I simply thought see you in the hospital one day. In the distance I suddenly see him turn left going into the private hospital and suddenly felt a little guilty. Perhaps he had a very ill passenger or he was perhaps a doctor rushing to treat someone. And he’d he could also have been simply late for work but if the majority actually drove sensibly in the first place then when we see someone driving like this we we’ll get out of there way just in case it is a genuine reason to be driving in this manner.
  17. I usually have 2 weather apps on my phone and they rarely agree even on the current temperature so I regularly change and still yet to find one that is accurate or reliable.
  18. Thanks Ubonjoe, but my first visit was actually my first 90 day report in this province so needed to do in person I believe. The second was really because immi have moved to a new office outside of town and I wanted to familiarise myself with where it was. Next time I will try to do it online.
  19. Stat, in my province in my past 2 visits for 90 day reporting you do need every page of passport copied as I posted a couple of weeks ago that 11 pages were done for my 90 days report.
  20. About 30 minutes ago sitting under our ceiling fan going at full throttle to try to keep cool we heard a succession of small bangs. We immediately thought the fan elements were overheating and switched it off. Then a few minutes later the bangs started again but not coming from the fan. As my Thai lady walked over to the wall switches she felt like a mini earthquake coming from the floor and suddenly 5 large tiles rose up a millimetre or so with the grouting all spilling up around the edges. I’m not suggesting that we had an earthquake by any means but I assume that the extreme heat of late has probably caused some expansion in the tiles and with no room to go sideways they’ve gone upwards. The temp here yesterday reached 41 and currently it’s 40.
  21. I’ve never heard of that one, is it any good? I take Anoro, one puff a day and Berodual as and when I feel I need it but I feel that neither are fully effective for me with some days I might as well not have taken anything. Ventolin I find has no effect on me at all when breathing becomes heavy and dare I bring up the subject of face masks which are very detrimental for me and make my breathing generally worse.
  22. This is what is happening to me, she has been using her deceased husbands surname in the past 5 years since he died but to remarry she has to revert to her fathers name first, ( why), in her province of birth in person which entails us in a near 900km round trip to do something which apparently is quick and simple. And before the usual crowd jump on me I am perfectly happy to do so even though it’s a bind, but we make the trip a few times a year to check on her farm anyway but wasn’t planning one quite so soon as only there just a few weeks ago.
  23. Yes, my lady has spoken at length with whoever deals with this in her home province and they assured her that it can be done over a period of time at her own speed. But isn’t it a strange requirement to have to do and must surely effect every Thai lady that gets married if they have assets.
  24. jts-khorat. Have you never written or said something simply out of frustration, I tend to read what people are trying to say rather than the literal content before jumping on to my keyboard with my own interpretation of their words. A fairly common practice on forums. As for what knowing you refers to it would be much more satisfying at least to me to argue with you rather than hiding behind the anonymity of a forum.
  25. Jts-Khorat where on earth do you get all your ideas from that I’m annoyed in any form whatsoever. I did find out what was needed with a lot of it coming from helpful people on thaivisa. What I was not aware of until we got to Bangkok was that she had laminated her certificate hence the ensuing problems. I’ve done a lot of searching on websites to solve it from many angles and follow what I read which isn’t always correct. As for her needing to revert to her maiden name, she wasn’t aware of that, neither were around a dozen of my friends some with Thai partners aware of it either, so stop trying to read between the lines and make up your own version of peoples problems. I take these things in my stride and where you think it’s all too much for me, well it’s a good job for you that I don’t know you.
