I rather doubt the departed would have caught what-ever it is, wit wasn't one of their strong points, and as for the Katoeys, I've hardly ever seen more than 2-3 at a time over the years, although everyone swears that the place is swarming with them, but I usually am home before Midnight; Maybe that is why?

I freuented this area when I was a teacher, and so, dead broke.

However, I've never had the slightest of problems there over the years, so don't like to hear about them being painted with an unfair brush.

I know nothing about the Katoeys, but they stand out like Spotlights, so easy to avoid.

As one of the remaining "Samauri" this will probably be my last post. I have only one nick, and this is it.

Remember, I replied to the original line about Thai prostitutes "slitting one's throat at the slightest provocation", which I said was completely untrue.

john b good has now explained what he really meant, specifying that they would have to lose face and broadening his generalization to all Thai man and women.

That is a different statement, and not the one that I was commenting on, however, I still maintain that if one doesn't pay the girls for having sex with them, it is tantamount to rape, and that one deserves the consequences. The same goes for causing them physical harm.

I've frequented Thapae Gate and many other red-light areas in Thailand for many years and this claim is absurd. If you treat the girls fairly, they will treat you like a King; you'll get a lot more than your money's worth.

The worst that they ever do is try to get a little more money out of you, and that hardly ever happens; Even that is quite easy to fend off, if you know what you are doing; Just tell a few white lies about having no more money, and no loss of face to anyone.

Now if you were try to cheat or hurt one of these sweet girls, you might get your throat cut, but that is as it should be!

Originally, I felt like Johnny B. Good. I have plenty of friends; Why would I want to meet some unknown "voice" on the internet?

George and Doctor Patpong intimidate me. They really keep their true-selves hidden. They seem like movie stars or something.

However lots of the members are completely open books. When I've written about being about being down, depressed, or afraid, or I expressed some kind of problem that I was having, some of the voices on-line have responded; they have gone out of their way to PM some kind of words of encouragement that really impressed me.

I could tell they were really good, genuine individuals, even through the copper wires of the Internet.

I already have met a few of the really nice people that are on here, but I have to admit that there are others who I really wonder about.

Some are my buddies who I "hang out' with over on the Political Forum, like Boon Mee, a good hearted guy if there ever was one, some are moderators like chanchow and tukylieth, some are people whose intelligence have really moved me, Jeepz and lamphun spring to mind.

Anyway, It would be nice to meet all of these people and others that I haven't mentioned.

I guess that when someone impresses you, you just want to attach a face to all the really important stuff that you already know about them.

I don't see too many university graduated girls working in bars just because it seemed like a fun and profitable thing to do and improve their English at the same time.

A lot of girls attending University are on the game.

I remember the big scandal when a famous sex club in Chiang Mai called Madam Flukes got busted and practically every girl in the place was registered at the nearby Uni.

The funny thing was, that all the girls had been telling the customers that they were "students", since so many men seem to find that desirable, but everyone thought that it was just part of the act, and didn't believe them.

A lot of the super-pretty girls that sit inside at the long outside bar at John's Place in Chiang Mai have always been University students, "practicing their English" as well.

I have had to order supplies for my business for years through an intermediary in another country. The supplier refuses to do business with anyone based in Thailand, even if one pays cash in advance.

As someone very wise once said on here ( I think that it was Doctor Patpong ), we're all a bunch of bail-jumpers!

Some Thai Detectives that work for me from time to time told me that there is "no such thing as self-defense for foreigners in Thailand". That I would be deported for defending myself, even if in the right.

They told me to always let them sort things out for me, but I hate to start getting them involved, just for two blow-hards.

Is there any way to block unwanted posters from sending nasty PMs?

Gent and Basher have a bunch of fake nicks and they insist on sending me insulting/threatening PMs under their own and other names.

I made such absolute jerkwaters out of them this morning by pointing out that they were using fake nicks, that they rather bother me in private I guess; No audience to laugh at their foolish blunders.

By the way schmucks, I don't have to prove that you are using fake nicks, although it is quite obvious to anyone, because this is all anonymous. You, however, can't threaten me anonymously without being liable for charges.

I thought that it was a little strange when a post came out supporting Basher and the gentleman and all their cronies, the day after they were thrown off.

Most people that I know just find their childish posts and antics annoying.

However, since that time, I have pointed out 2 or 3 instances when Basher is writing in under different nicks, usually to complain about me.

I would suggest that the thread supporting "The Lads" was probably mostly a bunch of fake nicks used by them and others of their ilk, who were bounced last week, and a few other members who were tricked into going along with them.

What won't they stoop to?

George and I don't know each other, but I certainly admire him for being able to keep his opinions to himself. I'm not very good at that!

As far as why he keeps allowing me to post. all I had to do is go back and look at the tripe that "fisherman" posted, and I knew the answer. Every once in a while I actually come up with something interesting to discuss. You Basher, certainly couldn't be accused of that.

By the way, you forgot that you were using one of your other nicks and signed the post above "Bash", even though it was posted by "fisher".

You may be right.

You might be right, but I find that when you are posting something unpopular on here, just like in real life, you get bullies looking for someone to harass. If you let them get the best of you a few times, if they think that you are "weak", they will follow you around and antagonize you, and make you wish that you had confronted them in the beginning.

One example is the thread that got so many people kicked off the other day.

I've always thought of tutsiwarrior as being one of these tough guys that keeps his real self hidden, and is quite willing to fight it out with anyone who gets on his wrong side.

The post about his wife was the first time that I've ever seen him be "for real" on-line, and I've never seen anyone mess with him before, however, that post brought out every jackal from the unholy places where they were hiding.

I've never seen anyone get jumped on like that.

His post made me proud of him; It made me want to get to know him, but all these other "people" could see was that he left himself open; they saw what they perceive as weakness, and they attacked him with no mercy.

I think that most of these people, again, just like in real life, are cowards, but here it is intellectually. They know that they aren't very bright, but if they attack in groups, or look for a chance to attack someone quickly, then run and hide, they can "be better" than someone else, or hurt someone's feelings, and feel better about themselves.

The simple truth is that I don't like people like this, and don't like to see them "get over" on anyone who hasn't asked for it, particularly me.

I rather "fight" back.

They usually look for other people's posts to insult, but they don't post anything of any substance themselves, because it would give other people the chance to attack them.

It is hard to attack someone who doesn't give out much information about themselves.

A lot of the posts that people get bounced for are erased by admin as they shouldn't have been there in the first place.

I don't think that one-liners are the problem The real problem is hit-and-runners.

They hardly ever write their own posts. They look for places to quickly insult someone without any payback, and then run off, hang out a while, and look around for a chance to do it to someone else.

A few prominant posters do this and everyone seems to think that they are quite witty, but I've found that if you wait for one chance to confront them about an issue somewhere, and absolutely stomp on them, they tend to avoid you and your posts after that.
