  1. After all this, I still don't see any evidence that Thailand Post have failed to deliver anything. The only fine you can be sure you have to pay is one that was delivered by Thailand Post (albeit to your wife).
  2. The online annual tax system works very well. It can check that your vehicle has passed inspection at a test station and whether you've already paid the compulsory insurance. If they connect the ability to check for outstanding fines, you'll probably have to pay them to do the online renewal. Unless they force you to go and pay somewhere in person first.
  3. But what makes you so sure that the cameras were operating on those occasions?
  4. I read that. But also read that you got this one however it was delivered. After re-reading a few times, I'm still none the wiser as to why you are so certain that you have been issued with other fines that you haven't received.
  5. It seems that you don't actually know that you've been issued any tickets before (cameras not operating at the time maybe)? And you have actually received this one so why wouldn't you have received others? Maybe hold off berating the postie until you know there's something to complain about?
  6. It would be interesting to know if he spoke central Thai or Isan dialects, which would seem a better indicator than the alphabet or the national anthem after such a long period of time. Yunan has a large ethnic Tai population so if he was only using a dialect from that region, it would probably mean he's Chinese? I'm guessing they looked into that though?
  7. But Lineker is a freelancer and was commenting on his own social media account. He's a sports presenter and not responsible for political content on the BBC. So the BBC's own guidelines suggest he hasn't done anything wrong. Does anyone actually believe that what he tweets out represent anything other than his own personal views? Anyway, the question would be why pick on Lineker when there are so many other examples of other senior BBC presenters doing exactly the same thing. And we all know that there would have been no issue at all if he had tweeted political comments that were in support of government policy.
  8. You think people don't know that anyway? You don't think there are people all over the media putting that out there at the moment? Complete misreading of the room I think.
  9. I was referring to the international schools of universities as in School of .......... Maybe better to say "international colleges" then.
  10. It's far from clear that he's broken any BBC rules. The relevant rule would be on Public Expressions of Opinion 15.3.13, which actually suggests he hasn't broken the rules: "The risk is greater where the public expressions of opinion overlap with the areas of the individual's work. The risk is lower where an individual is expressing views publicly on an unrelated area, for example a sports or science presenter expressing views on politics or the arts." Anyway, it looks like Match of the Day will be going out without any presenters or commentators, using footage only, as others like Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have said they will not appear.
  11. If you're a bit selective about exactly which private university you choose (and you should also look at international schools of government universities), you should certainly find a 75,000 baht plus starting salary.
  12. It's not contrived. It is used the way they describe. It's completely different from what you're saying where it's someone's actual nickname and you put khun, pee or nong in front of it. What they're talking about is where noo is used instead of the khun, pee or nong without the name. It can sound condescending. But I think I still hear more women using it to refer to themselves than to others. Makes me smile when one of the 50+ year olds in our office refers to herself as noo. Maybe that's something that's changing with the younger generation - as language does.
  13. No idea. I couldn't really see from the video how aggressively the 77-year old was riding. I was repeating what the poster I replied to said. Certainly the 49-year old behaved aggressively. All the evidence went before a court and a judgement was made. I'd imagine sentence will be reduced on appeal anyway and could even be overturned if a higher court takes a different view of the evidence.
  14. Or you could say that Ms. Grey was the one who acted aggressively and used expletives towards a 77-year old woman, who maybe wasn't riding aggressively. I didn't hear the evidence presented to say which side seems to have been the case here. But the court and judge heard the evidence and made a ruling based on that.
  15. You can have a different mailing address.
  16. The link is https://eservice.dlt.go.th/esvapp/login.jsf Thai language only
  17. You misunderstand the process. It's not their job to go and pay the tax for you. But many of them provide this additional service for an additional fee. You can pay the tax yourself and once the test station has entered it into the system you can do it online without any MOT documentation. For some it may be more convenient to let the test station take the documents to a DLT office and then go back and pick the tax disc up. For me, it's more convenient to go to the test station on a Saturday. Then I can go home and deal with the tax online. The tax disc arrives before the end of the week and I don't need to go and pick it up the following Saturday. Incidentally, it's after 7 years that cars need to go in for an MOT and 5 years for motorcycles.
  18. It's extremely simple. I already have the compulsory tax from renewing my insurance a couple of months earlier so just provide the evidence and pay the tax online. After the first time, the details of your vehicle are retained in the system so you don't need to key in any vehicle information. Takes less than 2 minutes. If you have more than one vehicle, you can add others to the same account. You can also add other people's vehicles (your wife's for example). If you need the compulsory insurance with the tax, you just tick the box and add it to the online payment. Takes 2 minutes. The disc is sent to your home address by registered post.
  19. You put that in yourself. Can't remember now if it was uploading a photo file or putting in some code from the insurance document. There's also an option to pay for the insurance at the time if you need to do that.
  20. You can still do it online if you want. The data from the testing station is connected to the central system. You can get it done and then when you get home it will show up in the online system. You don't have to go back to the testing station. It takes a few days to get the disc by registered post though.
  21. I did it using my social insurance number.
  22. Does the Big C Don Muang office still operate? It's still on the website. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/th/legalized_labours_service_center/
  23. Wouldn't he be OK leaving by the correct date anyway? There are a few offices for neighbouring country passports but I think they tend to deal with those on MOU visas. The main one is at Imperial Ladprao. Maybe CW would be the right place for his case though? The visa vans usually pick up at night. So remember to leave on the night of the 5th so that he's at the border on the morning of the 6th. If he's a day late he'll get fined.
