  1. Actually the annual road tax system is already online and works very well. All the testing stations are linked into the system and once your vehicle has been tested the information is already in the system and you can pay the road tax online without submitting any documents. I've done it for the last two years. I successfully registered for the system using my social insurance number. It takes about two minutes online. If you haven't paid the compulsory insurance, you can also do that as part of the process (if you've paid it already the system 'knows'). So the joke's on you here really. We know that there are some duds but there are also a few of the Thai online processes that are done really well and make life much easier.
  2. She was only putting in 750 baht per month. If you're earning an excellent salary in a company, you're probably also paying into a company provident fund and can also afford to make your own pension plans.
  3. This year my work permit book was declared full after 23 years of stamps. I was issued with a new blue book. Nothing digital.
  4. I've done the tax online for the last couple of years. Registration worked using my tax ID (correction) Social Insurance number. If you have more than one vehicle you can add them all under your online account. All done in a couple of minutes and the tax disc is sent out to you by registered mail and you get the tracking number. My insurance is due a couple of months earlier so I already have that when I pay the tax. Some people might prefer letting the testing station do the tax as well if it's convenient but I'd rather not go back there again to pick up the disc. The testing stations are all connected to the online system so I get home and the information is already entered. Nothing to upload or email. If you haven't got the compulsory insurance, you also get the option to pay that first to allow you to pay the tax.
  5. You haven't quite followed my point. Anyway, I don't think Thaksin holds all the cards you seem to think there. He wouldn't be back if there was the slightest chance of him revealing his financial dealings. Too dangerous for him.
  6. Of course people can be pardoned or treated above and beyond the law. But Thai law actually sets statute of limitations for corruption at 20 years. But this is suspended if the the accused / convicted flees the country. It's quite obviously a useful tool for the higher powers.
  7. Can't see it. If he does the dirty on this agreement with Pheu Thai, the numbers won't add up for him with the MPs, even if all the senators vote for him. With Ruam Thai Sang Chat and if they managed to persuade the Democrats to join them, they'd still be short. And probably need Bhumjaithai and Anutin to back out of this deal and go back on their word that they wouldn't be part of a minority government. Not impossible though I suppose. It sounds like Prawit's brother and Thammanat are getting two of the plum ministerial positions. So unless there's another big twist I think it'll be a Pheu Thai PM. Anyone for a late bet on Paetongtarn being proposed though? That would be the way to get around senators indicating they wouldn't vote for Srettha. I'm sure they'll do as they're told though.
  8. If you're in the ballpark with what you heard, I'd guess she actually said มีลูกไหม - Do you have any children? If she was being insulting or condescending, which seems very unlikely from the context, she would have used เด็ก not ลูก
  9. You can also register and pay your road tax online. If you haven't paid the compulsory insurance or done the car test, it shows you and won't allow you to get the tax until you've done the others. My private and compulsory insurance come up together a couple of months before the road tax so I just get them together. You can check it in the online system and once you've tested the car, you can pay the tax online.
  10. Not disagreeing with your overall points. But you made your comment in reply to someone saying that in Thailand or the US people showing racist bahviour at a stadium would be arrested. You would also be arrested and banned at a football stadium in the UK for racist or homophobic behaviour. If the match the poster was referring to was in the UK, it would have been years ago. Sounds like it may have been Spain or Italy if more recent.
  11. Much much longer for many of those in Pheu Thai. Another reason they need this deal.
  12. Seems unlikely from their latest announcements unless Pheu Thai can come up a viable coalition that doesn't include Palang Pracharath.
  13. He's not missing. He's been very much in the thick of the activity over the last couple of weeks.
  14. First ever recorded sighting of a Clouded Leopard at Yod Dom Wildlife Sanctuary, Ubon Ratchathani, caught on camera: https://tna.mcot.net/environment-1214822
  15. It's from Andrew MacGregor Marshall on Twitter.
  16. Even Sondhi Limthongkul is giving his blessing. So the fix really is in.
  17. Not if MFP are not part of the coalition. A new coalition plus votes from MFP outside the coalition would mean that they'd need far fewer senate votes. Then if there are MPs defecting from Ruam Thai Sang Chat (as sounds quite likely) and maybe even from PPP to Bhumjaithai, it's even more likely there'll be enough senate votes to see it through.
  18. But maybe MFP have agreed to vote for the PM candidate of Pheu Thai coalition that includes Bhumjaithai even if they're not part of it. With promises made for later.
  19. Think you'll find that in England you'll be arrested for homophobic, racist or other offensive behaviour. They will also track you down after the event. Try Spain or Italy.
  20. Some deal of this nature has obviously been agreed. Even the political editors don't seem quite sure what the formula is yet. Has Move Forward agreed to vote to approve the PM of a new Pheu Thai coalition even if they're not in it? Will PT take the premiership of a coalition that includes the Democrats and Bhumjaithai, maybe with some defectors from the Prayut/Prawit parties? Will it go the way Chuwit says here? Pretty sure Thaksin is fairly confident now of how it's meant to pan out.
  21. There's talk that MPs in some parties may be ready to jump ship and go to new homes. Prayut was the only reason most of his party came together so now that he's stepped away some of those MPs are open to moving on. One faction could even join Pheu Thai, though it's rumoured more likely that they'll go to Bhumjaithai. Anyway it could mean more numbers for a PT coalition and as they wouldn't be in 'military' parties any more, Move Forward wouldn't be expected to object to their presence.
  22. So maybe the deal has been done for a Pheu Thai government. Government in place in early August. Thaksin back on the 10th.
