Yeah in that case even I would make the same choice. I am really glad it works for you, and even after so long.

Chiropractor in Pattaya or Bangkok
MeaMaximaCulpa replied to MeaMaximaCulpa's topic in Health and Medicine
Thanks to all of you, I will study and check out your recommendations. I did actually try a chiro in Pattaya many years ago, he was Canadian I think, and worked out of the Old Nipa/Napa Lodge Hotel on the right side of Central Road, after 2nd raod, going towards the beach. Not sure if he is still there, but i wasn't convinced he was much good. -
Yes, first thing I asked her to do. Did the suction, but she said not much there. Would have been first price!
-
I am actually Norwegian, so that was interesting! Another thing to add to my list! My wife also works with a Dane that used to work for a Danish hearing aid company, I will meet him later as well.
-
Thanks, sorry to hear that, but you're coping at least. Thankfully I don't have any problems sleeping, and the tinnitus, even if quite load at times, does not bother me too much. And in normal conversation and life in general the hearing loss is manageable without any aids. I totally hear you on anti biotics, I avoid as much as I can. But I also would be very careful with sleeping pills, and luckily (so far) I don't need them.
-
Yes, you're unfortunately and probably right. My biggest problem isn't today, it is the fear of continued rapid hearing loss. But I will do all I possibly can to at least slow it down or stop it, if not outright reverse it. Perhaps a stem cell injection?
-
Thanks, well I think eventually a hearing aid will be required, but so far I am living OK with the problem. Even the tinnitus isn't "on" all the time, and it doesn't stop me from sleeping well. My biggest concern is not now, but the possible continued loss of hearing going forward.

I think (and hope) that is yet far away, but as you say, perhaps a last resort. Don't really want to think about that now...

Ear wax xas my first hope, but doctor said there was hardly any. Would have been first price...
-
Thanks, she is added to my list op options!

As both Sheryl and I mentioned, fixing the hearing problem might downstream fix the tinnitus as well. Other than that, I haven't so far seen any cure for tinnitus except some anecdotes with very limited success and lasting effects. But I will report back if I do get some good results.
-
Thanks Sheryl, I will get in line for the good doctor, it will be a good starting point!
-
Thanks again!
-
Thanks, I will look into those as part of my search!

Well thank you, hope you're coping OK with it! And btw, I have the same situation in both ears, so that will rule out some possibilities I guess.

I would like to find a good chiropractor in Pattaya or Bangkok (if possible near Ekkamai) to try to get to the bottom of some long standing issues both for me and my wife. Ideally I would like to find someone like Dr. John Bergman (from the US) that will take a holistic look at the body, including the nervous system. Any experiences and recommendations? @Sheryl

I am experiencing tinnitus and hearing loss that seems to have taken an abrupt turn for the worse fairly recently (months). Especially sound, e.g. human voices from the TV and computer is affected, giving a muffled impression, with clear loss of higher frequencies. It is said that tinnitus can appear as a result of hearing loss, as the brain will insert noise to fill the missing parts of the audible spectrum, which can seem like a plausible explaination to me. I went to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and the doctor simply said (after examination and hearing test): “Old age” (i’m 66), “need hearing aid”. I do have subclinical autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's) and that opens the door to other autoimmune diseases. I asked the doctor about this in relation to ear disease, and she said in that case it is “on and off”. So all in all not very helpful doctor, and I gave up on her. Now I would like to find out more, and want to try Bumrungrad or a specialist clinic in Bangkok to get a second opinion. I therefore need help to find the best expert and diagnostics possible in this field, to explore the underlying reasons, and if possible find treatment to slow down, stop or even reverse the problem. Perhaps I’m chasing the impossible, but I have a hard time accepting "old age" as a sole reason for this, without any further digging. So please let me hear your experiences, especially @Sheryl

I agree with you in a general sense, and for most people this is a good and prudent way for an annual check-up say. For me personally most of my tests are repeat monitoring tests (metabolic, thyroid,++), and I am fully aware what they mean.
-
I think that they do some tests locally but probably send the more complex ones to BKK. I say this because sometimes I get very quick response on some tests, but hve to wait a couple of days for the rest. I find their prices reasonable and you don't need the doctor's fee and extra markup of the hospital (notably the one next door...)

Recommendation for Fasting Blood Sugar testing meter
MeaMaximaCulpa replied to connda's topic in Health and Medicine
I use an Accu-Chek Guide, quite happy with it. But you can never expect high accuracy with finger-prick meters, and especially if the strips are out of date. I feel that they show too low values when old, but cannot substantiate this with any facts. So better look for trends than accurate values. Whenever I go to have tests done at a hospital or clinic I test with my own meter right before and right after drawing blood, and save the readings until I get the lab result. It can serve as a rough "calibration" of your own meter vs the more accurate lab tester. And I have generally found my meter to be within ±5-8 units (using the mg/dl scale), which I consider totally acceptable. Just for laughs (and to annoy the nurse ), I ask them to also measure my blood pressure and SAT with my devices. Generally the readings are close. -

@simon43 I am listening to a podcast by Dr Peter Attia discussing the prostate, and the specialist he is interviewing said that in addition to the reproductive function of the prostate it seems like it has at least one other function: Due to the prostate being very unfriendly to bacteria (acidic), it can act as a protective buffer to protect the bladder (and ultimately kidneys) from infection. So perhaps don't do that DIY urethra rerouting just yet... Here is the link to the podcast, over 3 hour long and at times complicated, but worth a listen if you have any prostate issues: https://peterattiamd.com/tedschaeffer2/

Going back to before grain based agriculture started playing havoc with human health, if you managed to avoid wild animals, fatal falls, warring tribes, infections and other "hard stops", perhaps "old age" still wouldn't by itself cause BPH?
-
Could it be that the design initially was fine, but evolution has not caught up with all the ills of modern living, like pollution, radiation, diet, hormone issues and probably many other things causing the prostate to enlarge?

Sorry, migrating was not a good word. Not content provider, just user, but looking for content elsewhere. You are right that a premium subscription would fix the ad issue, but even though I like the massive content, it pains me to register (and pay, even a small amount) to Google/Alphabet, a company I do not respect at all. And yes, you can call me a hypocrite, I will not take issue with that. I might end up giving in and subscribing, also because I watch a lot of YT via Apple TV, and there I cannot use an adblocker (unless I block at the moden/browser level, which I currently cannot do, and they will block that as well soon). I normally subscribe, like to Netflix and newssites, and never use pirate software. So it is a confusing and frustrating life in the digital domain.
