  1. Anyone know what this game is all about ? It's a bit strange as you create a character and then watch your creation fight and rise through the ranks and that's about it as far as I can see.

Maybe someone here will be able to work it out better than me, link below

    Fight Game

  2. The owner, who is a member of the National Federation of Fish Friers in the United Kingdom, will provide training,

I don't beleive that for a single second, the crap he was serving up I doubt if he had fried a fish in his life before coming to Thailand. He did admit on one Pattaya website that his job in the UK was something to do with Airlines or airports, from memory in a customer service role. Anyway if someone does buy it, I hope they decline the offer of training :o

  3. I hope somebody does a revue of this place soon, I have been in Macau about 10 times and I think it is some of the nicest food I have ever had anywhere. Hopefully they will have some Porteguese beer too but knowing Thailands import tax if they do have it it will probably be expensive.

  4. Read this yesterday and thought about it a bit.

Brulliant guessqork to get the wire.cord to exactly the height of the vicrims throat. No scraping down jis face or rubbing up his chest.

And the guy must therefore have been riding upright, not leaning forward at all.

Does he have exceptionally long arms, or extended handlebars?

I have doubts about the whole thing happening as described.

You don't exceptionally long arm or handlebars to ride a scooter and these things can get quite a bit of speed up, I can get my Nouvo up to 90Kmh and I'm a guy who is 120Kg.

So my guess is he was probably riding a scoot and not a motorbike.

  5. Unfortunately as in most asian countries live is cheap and do you really think the bastrads who did this would care if they killed someone, whould they hel_l and even less so if it's farang.

Even though I like living here, if I was in the west and thinking of a holiday destination Pattaya would be getting further and further from my thoughts.

  6. "18 Coins" - 2nd Rd to Pattaya Klang, then rt on Buakhao? What's the menu here? Sounds English/Irish from the description.

I have tried 18 Coins a few times and not overly impressed, seems cheapness of food takes priority over quality. Roast Lamb dinner was rank, fish and chips passable.

Good place for a few cheap beers though.

  7. The internet on BTV is run through the tv's fibreoptic cables so is capable of much faster speeds than adsl and the other alternatives on offer.

Very interesting, can you please enlighten us as to what speed these much faster speeds are ? I thought that BTV internet was a 2Mb/1Mb service ?

Also is it true that BTV internet cannot be used for P2P programs or BitTorrent programs due to the routers being not accesible to users so the necessary port forwarding to use these programs cannot be done ?

  8. I'm looking for a really good burger. Planning to try Bob's this week. Have heard about Rung's on the darkside, but every time I go over there, its closed.

If you venture over to the darkside, personally I would advise you to give rungs a miss and head to Cafe Uno where IMO you'll get a much better burger (closed on Tuesdays) it also does a lot of nice falang food.

  9. I have only tried the PJ pub or whatever it's called on Soi Khao Noi a couple of times but I found the food was very poor both times and I will not go back there.

Just down from PJ on the oppsite side of the road near the banana bar is a thai resteraunt called Baan Ahlaai (spelling ?) which I tried last night, there are no falang dishes only thai. Me and the missus was quite impressed with the food served, not the cheapest thai resteraunt around but very good food.

I haven't seen any reviews of the great british fish and chip shop on Soi Khao Noi on this thread but I have tried it a couple of times but I haven't been impressed so far, still a work in progress I think.

  10. Must agree with Patsfangr that Cafe Uno is by far the best pizza around this area and is in fact the only place I eat pizza now, used to be the Dao was the number one but no more.

The winner for me is the quality of the cheese used, much better than the cheese I've tried on any other pizza in Thailand, the double cheese is to die for.

Haven't been to the courtyard for a while due to the missus cooking a lot at home but it's good to hear they have expanded their menu, sounds like I need to make a visit back their soon.

  11. ^ definately more a place for farang food, me and my thai missus go there regularly but 90% of the time the missus will order a farang dish versus a thai dish.

Their piece de resistance IMO is the great Sunday Lunch's they do.

  12. Thanks for that :o PF

I'm gonna keep my existing phone line with TOT just for calls.. If they connected it to your existing line I guess it's just standard 4 core phone wire.. Which is fine I'll just install a short length at my place beofre the arrive.. Cheers again !

Can you please keep us informed on what kind of termination they have and if they bring it into the house ets ? Also be interested in the kind of speed your getting when it's set up.

I live on Nernplubwaan opposite the snake farm and currentlu use TOT, while it has been ok for almost 2 years the service has steadily dropped in the last 3 or 4 months and I'm considering changing to CAT.

  13. I'd like to give Cafe Uno a try, but so far I haven't spotted it. Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find it. People keep posting that it's on Soi Khaonoi, but where on Soi Khaonoi?

First, let me tell you that I definitely recommend Cafe Uno. I have eaten there 4 times since finding it; and now include it among my "regular" spots for lunch. As you may have read, it is run by an Englishman named Craig. He is an affable host, an excellent chef, and most of the recipes there are his own. Great burger meat, which is also used for the meatballs. I haven't yet tried a Panini, but that's next on my list.

Cafe Uno is located on the north side of Khao Noi (on your left, if you're coming down from Sukhumvit). It is past the railroad tracks, and a 100 meters or so before you reach Noi's Bar. The sign is white letters on a black background. Both indoor (non-smoking and A/C) and outdoor seating are available.

I hope that gets you there. It's well worth checking out. Be a bit patient with the waitresses. They're sweet girls, but new to the job. Craig is always willing to help, if needed, as is his wife.

Cafe Uno is indeed very good and I eat there myself many times a week and can thoroughly recommend the Panini's, burgers, his Indian dish's (especially the Chicken Dhansak) a very good Gammon steak and also the great Chicken Burger but you'd better be hungry for that one, it's huge.

Also does very good English breakfasts.

There is also another addition to the Darkside opening on the 3rd of November, it is going to be a British style fish an chip shop (which will be called I beleive "The Great British Fish and Chip Shop" ). It is going to be between the Paradise bar and Flinstones bar on Soi Khao Noi. Hopefully they will have real chips and fish that could beat IMO the current best fish this side of Sukhumvit which is at Chesters just opposite the wet market on Nernplubwaan. I will report after trying the new chippy next week.

  14. I eat at cafe uno quite regularly and I've yet to have a bad dish there, I can thoroughly recommend the burgers, panini's are great and he also does some great tasty Indian dishes.

Cafe uno is a very good addition to the Darkside.

  15. Having said that I am probably in the minority of people willing to pay a premium for an outstanding Sunday lunch - as I say I have never yet found it in Thailand.

Digger,I heard a rumour that Manhattans are about to start/have started doing a Sunday roast for around 6 or 7 hundred baht.

If I was going into town for a roast I would still go to the Sportsman's, Soi 13, but it'll be interesting to see if the food is better at Manhattans

I agree with Sportsmans on Soi 13, if ever I'm in town on a Sunday then that is the best place for a roast.

Don't think I will be trying Manhattans though, went there a few months back with the missus, 3000 baht for 2 which I don't mind as long as the food is good quality but it was absoloute <deleted>, for that money I would have expected a perfectly aged tender steak, what I had was like old leather. Much better steaks for a lot less money to be had in other places around Pattaya.

  16. I don't have any issues with Thai Visa loading at all on Maxnet.

Since it doesn't seem to be an across the board issue, may I ask what ISP you use?

TOT, today just the same many international sites, eg BBC, CNN, Yahoo, Google and lesser well known sites load in between 5 - 10 seconds.

this page replying to your post took 47 seconds to load, which when your sat staring at a monitor seems an age.

  17. Look at the link below and the posts before it for a lowdown on where to find the best roast dinner in pattaya IMO and many others, especially if you like lamb.

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?s=...t&p=2257815

You will only get Yorkshire pudding with the beef but as for vegetables you do get a few brussel sprouts as well as carrots, brocolli, green bean, pumpkin, cauliflower and absolutely delicious roast carrots and a load of roast potatoes (not deep fried by the way :o )

Also the gravy I would assume is home made as there is no way in hel_l is it Bisto that's for sure.

This place is well worth a try if you like your roasts and if youre going for a beer then it's a great place for a drink as the prices are very cheap and there's a very nice drinking area outside the back of the building as well as the AC'd bar inside.
