  1. Just a short question, for clarification please..

Nissan thailand on their web site quote 144hp for their truck...2.5lt

But on red book, it`s quoted as having 174hp..2.5lt

I would think the former is correct at this engine size, compared to other trucks...can some please clarify...regards

The 4X4 has 174 HP while the 4X2 has 144 HP. Both are 2.5 liter turbo diesels.

Thanks, it`s just that i need a truck/car and was always put off by the 2.5lt as i thought underpowered...

If anybody can give me their impresssions on the 174 2.5, re ride, consumption performance etc please do...kind regards HD

  3. Headlights

Right side low beam is always on. High beam switch is just on/off for left side high beam. Inexpensive and light weight (no relays, minimum of wires).

Riding with high beam is a good day time solution, giving 2 lit projectors, which is what I do presently. However a constant low beam gives only one projector in dark when high beam is off. When high beam is on, human eye is still withdrawn to the nearest lit area, low beam area, giving short sight.

It takes one relay to shut off low beam power when high beam is engaged. One relay for dual high beams. One relay for dual low beams. Some wires, 2,5mm2. 2 dual high/low beam bulbs. Totally less than 0,3 kg. Original bulbs are not dual light purpose, so lets see if these bulbs with high/low are available in Phuket first :)

Maybe i`ll email jim at easternbeaver.com to see if he can come up with something OEM looking, i used his h4 product for my kawasaki 750, to improve the head light output.

It`s a relay kit that takes the supply straight from the battery, it allows me to have both the hi/lo lit at the same time and straight from the battery "wow" what a difference..

I know what we are looking at here is a different issue but he might be able to fix something up..

Take a FULL look at his website, i love the handlebar switch`s, Cable connections etc, oh, and he is in japan so quick delivery...paypal is how i paid and great service..

What i would love is a hi/lo on each side, if at all possible..

Note, i am not connected to him in any way...i just think he puts out top gear...HD

H4 doesnt fit. Has to be same size original, but with dual light as H4 bulb. Available in Europe (Osram), but will start looking here in Phuket tomorrow. Perhaps Piaa.

Of course power has to come straight from battery in a 2,5mm2 cable, controlled by relays. Improves lighbulbvoltage from present 12,7 to 13,8-14,4 Volt. Thats 50 % more light from same light bulb. I dont want to increase lightbulb watt cause of heat in small projectors. Dual low beams and dual high beams and 50% more each projector is another world. :D

I realise H4 wont fit, h4 is what i have in the old bike, what i was getting at was the cabling connecters relays etc,, it really is quality stuff, ceramic connecters is a big plus as they cope so much better with the heat...do you think with a twin filament bulb in our projectors we will achieve enough offset in the beam projection to get true hi/lo separation, as the projectors are designed for a single bulb, and hi/lo is adjusted soley by the adjusters...i agree totally the improvment i got when feeding straight from the battery makes a huge difference, and yes 2 hi`s and 2 low`s would be so sweet...HD

  5. I have been told the same, but dont know if it`s true, if your new bike comes from say korat it can only be registered in korat, even if you take it on an round trip via changmai to bangkok .....it can only be registered where it was originaly planted (for want of a better word), wether paying cash, credit or what....still no can do..according to kawaski korat, because i asked the very same thing...regards

Not true.. I have moved both bikes and cars between provinces..

Took a couple of weeks, you get a new plate for your region.. Not any more difficult than a name change but it took a few days more.

i agree with what you say , but i was reffering to a brand new bike, and only quoting what i was told..

  6. >There's one standing around in Chiang Mai. I am pretty sure it's for sale.

I've been living in Bangkok for many years and have purchased three registered motorcycles here (BMW, Yamaha, and Honda). However, they were all purchased from Bangkok dealers. If I purchase a motorcycle from a dealer outside of BKK, are there any hassles with registering the bike at my address in BKK? Can the dealer do this for me or will I have to take care of this myself? When I visited the Kawasaki dealer in Pattaya the other day, I asked the salesperson about this. He claims that they could only register the bike with Chonburi plates. Is this true?

Can I go to a dealer outside of BKK, give them cash for a bike, load the bike into my pickup truck, drive back to BKK, and then register it here?

What about buying a registered second-hand bike from a non-dealer outside of BKK?

  7. I want to add more pics to a thread, but previously have uploaded on the same thread with about 48meg, how do i clear this limit or reply again with new pics, i dont want to loose the other pics from before....not a lot of help in the help section...regards

  8. I opened a Kasikorn Bank account about 2 years ago in ISSAN, I told them i wanted their cyberbanking online service also, the account is a regular savings account which i manage online, and with the said account i set up an online k-web shoping card, which is basically a debit card online with a different number than my plastic card, i have it linked to paypal, e-bay and can make any online purchases i want via the k-web card...oh and you set the limit on the e-web card up and down as and when you like, online with your relative password....when you make a purchase online you receive very quickly notification of any transactions via your email....all kasikorn banks do this wether you are is issan or bangkok or anywhere in thailand... :)

hope this helps, just print this post out and take it with you to k bank and tell them that this is what you want, oh and i opened mine with a tourist visa and passport and £150 at the time...

  9. A few mods today on my 2010 plasma blue 650r,

this is not an i`ve done this post..just for info.

1, rear matching bobins for paddock stand...59bike for stand, 2500baht including post to issan, £10 for plasma blue bobins on ebay including post.

2, r&g tail tidy, 1hr and a bit to fit, have to remove right side seat cowling to get to indicator and number light plugs..from ducatiomaha...650 shop

3, radiator cover powder coated in silver, 20min to fit...i may have a line in these if enough intrest

4, satin black sports bars, 1.75hrs to fit took my time...from ducatiomaha, great improvement in riding position and rear view a lot better with mirrors out of the way of elbows. note : right and left lock to stops, but levers just nudge the stock screen

next scorpion to fit if it arrives wed/thursday....

i will post pics if any one wants a look...dark now ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,HD :)

Cool! I've got sport bars on the way from Ninja650Shop too, but I'm having a friend carry them over, along with Arrow exhaust and an integrated tail light so I have to wait a while yet before they arrive.

I've read that the installation of the sport bars can be 'tricky' and am encouraged to hear that you were able to get yours on without too much difficulty.

    Definitely interested in seeing pictures!

    Happy Trails!

    Tony

Will post pics tomorrow tony, sports bars for the 650r are a doddle to fit compared to the zr7`s 750 i also have, they were the version 2 that dont have the offset holes on the plate but are designed for the earlier 650r`s and not the zr7`s, p.s when you fit yours dont cut the cable bracket, i just bent it open a little to allow all the cables and brake pipe out, i`ll show it better with a pic later... :D i`m of for a drink with the missus

  11. Just learned the hard way that the headlight bulb for the Ninja 650R is NOT the same as the 2009 ER6N/F! Grrr.. :)

I dont understand why they make one low beam and one highbeam, except for costsaving :D As soon as I get some time (and park the bike for a day) I will take them apart. I want 2 low beams and 2 highbeams. I m not going Xenon/HID though.

How is that done, i fancy the same, i dont like having only one side lit when on low beam..? :D

  12. As for the lights same here, 2 clicks up on the rear spring and 1" (now) down on the forks helps but still slightly to high... :D

I dont think adjusting the rear suspension to lower the headlight beam is a sensible thing to do, unless of course that particlar suspension setting suits better. Its more of a quick fix rather than the prefered solution......which is????? No fcking idea.... however, i believe there must be an adjustment screw somewhere, no??

Its actually makes more sense to drop the front forks 10mm through the yolk trees as some other poster mentioned for better handling, lower ride height and subsequently lower light beam. Basically what i'm saying is i'm buggered if i'm gonna alter a prefered rear suspension setting just to get the headlight beam correct...kinda like putting out a fire with gasoline !!!

    www.motorcyclistonline.com/howto/122_0310_headlight_aiming/index.html

There are at least 2 things LOS car- and bike dealers never do, but are supposed to do according to manufactorers service manual: adjust lights and tyre pressure.

So whats the tyre pressure supposed to be?

Kinda like the high beam in the top of the palm trees :):D

Putting out the fire with gasoline, thats David Bowie man :D

For your information, yes i do preffer the rear spring up 2 clicks as i ride 2 up 99.9% of the time, and as for the forks, well it turns in better and like i stated on a previous post, it stops a bit of helmet banging, until my bars are delivered..And yes im well aware of the adjustment on the head light FYI.... :)

MAYBE the guys at kawasaki set the lights while on a paddock stand???

    :D

  14. I agree your right leg feels the heat on the 650R. I remember on my CBR 400 this happening also. Maybe I am stating the obvious, but I deduced, or maybe someone told me, that it's because the hot water/coolant comes into the radiator on the right side. And with the fairing the heat is more focused as it escapes.

A professional reviewer on youtube said the ABS was a bit mechanical also. Haven't tried it yet. only done 250K so far.

One thing I did notice is the headlights are aligned to high. And the high beams are excellent is you want to see what's in the lower branches of the trees ahead of you. Maybe I will try adjusting the rear spring to make the ass end higher.

Is there not a lot of heat from the cat?, i'm hoping mine cools down a little with an after market can.

As for the lights same here, 2 clicks up on the rear spring and 1" (now) down on the forks helps but still slightly to high... :)

Oh, i did notice on another forum that a guy had wrapped his down pipes, maybe heat reasons also..

  15. First free mods today, not really mods but adjustments really....rear spring up two clicks and dropped the triple clamps down 10mm (as recomended in the kawasaki 650r manuals from earlier), not so jumpy now and stops a bit of helmet bashishing until my new bars come...it turns in quicker as you can imagine :)

Oh, and a bit disapointed that you cant change the readout to mph...unless i`m missing something..

BTW, korat manager has english manuals on order for us that cant read thai.....yet

"A cost effective way of slightly lowering the seat height is to drop the front forks through the triple clamps so that the forks sits approximately 10mm above the top of the Steering Stem Head, this will decrease the seat height by about 5mm. This setup is actually detailed in the Kawasaki Service Manual as the correct setting for the forks even though all bikes are delivered with the forks flush with the Steering Stem Head. Another benefit of this setup is that some owners report improved handling."

  16. I've used Ninja650Shop.com for some of the mods on my ER6n and have been very pleased with their knowledge and service.

Have a set of sport bars on the way. It sounds like installation can be tricky though...

    Happy Trails!

    Tony

Yep, they are the only people who make them.....I have them on my Zr7 s, as for fitting on the 650r i it will be alot less hassle as i had to reem the top edge of the plate straight across as the key fob on the zr7s is in the centre and not offset to the right as on the 650r.....but just remember if you fit an after market screen on the 650r you will need cut aways to have full lock...oh and i filled mine with dry brick laying sand, cheap and it stops any vibration you might get :) .

The earlier plates had ninja engraved on them, but now only read sportbar, i think i`ll email jarel and see if the can make the ninja name again before i order for the 650r, shouldn't need much re-tooling....

  17. OK, i suppose if you don't T bone a fortuna.... :)

ps: hope you get yours tomorrow scuba

and maybe we should push for a discount on a group buy for two bros from say ninja650.com aka dukatiomaha
