  1. Here's the info sheet being handed out by the volunteers the spells out the documentation required for extension renewals:

    attachicon.gifRetirement Renewal Docs.jpg

The daft things is, he said quite clearly that 3 months of Bank Statements are required if you are showing 800,000 in the bank, and yet this handout doesn't say that.

Also, my mate got a new 90 day date and form stapled in his passport after he went for an extension. So the bit at the end of this form isn't quite right either.

I think I'll go and pester the volunteers again.

PS. It was very crowded today upstairs at 2:30.

PPS. What's this "Copy face side of ATM card" ? Jesus Wept. I think I'll tell him that I don't have one - I just go to the bank and withdraw money. That's exactly what my mate does.

I know this post is over a year old but I just noticed where it says "letter from embassy (max 30 days)".

That is a mistake right? From my experience the letter is good for 6 months.

The letter I have from my embassy will be almost 4 months old when I apply for my retirement extension.

  2. If your going through Kamala there is a shop directly opposite of Big C that has them. The shop has a tin roof and they sell hardware and household stuff. I was there last week looking for something to insulate the water tank on my roof. I showed one of the staff a large piece of foam and she brought me a pool noodle. They had a trash can full of them. I did not ask the price since it was not what I was looking for.

  3. I used Andy's build for awhile I thought it was pretty good. I'm still mostly using Spinz, though I have other builds installed too. Sure there are some add-ons I don't use like the sports related ones. I could delete them but they don't bother me so I don't. I add some add-ons as well. Vanilla Kodi...nah not for me, too boring.

I'm still happy to hear about what builds other folks like so maybe I can discover something new. Like add-ons I have never tried and interfaces that I like better.

  4. @ Skatewash, thanks for that very detailed report. thumbsup.gif

My photo was taken shortly thereafter and I then given the bad news. I would have to return the next day and pick up my passport at 1 pm. My passport has never had to stay

overnight at immigration so I was a bit disappointed that I would have to return the next day.

I have to do mine mid-May. I'm thinking I might get a prepaid EMS envelope from the post office and ask if they can drop my passport in the mail. If they can mail 90 day reports maybe they can mail a passport as well. If they say no it's no big loss and if they say yes I will have saved an extra trip to town. I'll post here if they are willing to do it. Then again if someone is going sooner and wants to try I may not have to waste 100 Baht at the post office. wink.png

Last year when I did it they told me come back after lunch on the same day and the extension was still done upstairs, but I have seen people reporting lately that it is the next day now to pickup.

Seems every time I go there is a change in procedure. It's nice we have this forum to keep up with the changes.

  5. In Phuket they rely heavily on foreign volunteers. Some of the volunteers are really great. Sometime the office is overwhelmed other times not. But, it sounds like here in Phuket it's a breeze compared to Chiang Mai. Now I have never been to immigration in Chiang Mai but I have read many posts about it, including many of yours NancyL. You seem to have worked very hard to be of assistance to expats there.

Why not move to Phuket. I'm sure you would be very welcome here. Even at the immigration office biggrin.png

    Cheers

Do those foreign volunteers have the correct "volunteering" visa or are they on retirement visas while working? smile.png

I don't know, but if I had to guess I would say no working visa. TIT tongue.pngsmile.png

  6. Or they could just stop giving Visa Agents 'free' access at any time.

Went to Promanada one morning (around 11am), looked at the huge queue, thought 'forget it'.

Walked into the G4 office and asked how long do I need to wait to get a retirement extension, they said around 15 minutes.

Yeah, It irks me when I see the visa agents just walk in all smiles and jokes and get serviced on the spot.

  8. I do like and use Kodi. I've used it since it was XBMC.

Kodi is great as a media player/organiser, but what do all the add-ons really offer? Poor quality streams of programming can get elsewhere, and links that sometimes work so I can watch UK daytime tv in the evening.

As a media player it seems. And that's fine for you. Great.

  9. Kodi is overrated for streaming anyway. I can see how the builds appeal to cheapskates with limited tech skills, but there are better ways.

Was it really necessary to belittle/talk down to forum members with your post vs offering help as the OP asked?

Just my honest opinion. Kodi is great as a media player/organiser, but what do all the add-ons really offer? Poor quality streams of programming can get elsewhere, and links that sometimes work so I can watch UK daytime tv in the evening.

Your entitled to your opinion of course. For a media player though I like Potplayer. I use Kodi for streaming movies, TV shows and news and I find it works quite well. Poor Quality? I don't agree.

I like the builds because they have different set ups or should I say organized differently than vanilla Kodi and often I find it more attractive and convenient to use. Also many times they introduce me to new add-ons that I have not seen before.

That being said, this thread was intended for people that like and use Kodi and enjoy trying new builds.

  10. None…all builds are flawed because they need constant updating and the so called live tv links do not work after a few days.

Build your own, pay for a stalker sub and you're away….you don't need too may add ons anyway…I have less than a dozen.

Flawed how? Because you think the live TV links don't work ?

For me the only live TV I ever watch are the news channels and they work fine. I also use an add-on World News Live that works very well for me. Other than that its TV shows and movies. I'm not interested in live sports either.

  11. I like the very simple TVMC build. Its the one I always start with and then customize as I see fit. Dont care about the wallpaper and such, just want functionality.

I have used TVMC and I liked it but they are still using the same version of Kodi that they were using when I first tried it, Helix I think, there have been two new version of Kodi released now. TVaddons, they are the creators of TVMC I believe, still does have a lot of useful stuff though, and many of their add-ons are included in most of the builds I have tried.

  12. A lot of us are using Kodi these days. I see lots of references to it in many posts. There are lots of customs builds for Kodi. I have tried many and like a few. There so many to chose from I just wanted to get some suggestions on new builds to try. Or do you prefer Kodi vanilla?

    Currently I'm using three:

    Pulse-CCM (Jarvis)

    The Beast v1.6

    Spinz TV Premium Lite

I seem to be coming back to Spinz the most. Of course I still customize all builds with few of my favorite add-ons that are not included in some builds.

  13. They changed their website address...it's now:

    https://daytodaydata.net/default.aspx

    Thanks for that.

Interesting, I still get the security alert but once I add the exception it works.

Now the "old" address I had was the one you had in your opening post, but I used https instead of http in front of it and it worked fine until they changed the website name...then you would get a security warning and even if bypassing the security warning then get a server error...couldn't reach it at all. In your opening post you had a http versus https in front of the old name.

So, be sure with the new name you are also including https in front (just like in my post above) instead of http.

Yes, I copied the link in my OP from my bookmarks but I do use the https add-on. Usually that add-on ignores and allows sites that don't support it. At least that's what I thought.
