I tend to leave the news on when I'm at home during the day also (evenings are for movies and TV shows). But I switch stations on the top of the hour because if you leave the same station on it just repeats what you saw the last hour and I like variety.

I would use this to stop the automatic update and nag screens.

This is simple and from one of the most respected sources Gibson Research
Yes, Gibson is very respected for lots of free handy utilities. I never saw never10

Download the Gwx control panel.
GWX Control Panel is a free program that you can use to configure and exit the “Get Windows 10” system tray application which continually pops up on PCs still running Windows 7/8.

I'm duel booting Win 7 & 10 (and several flavors of Linux on Virtualbox and VMware) and I like 7 myself.

SSDs are supposed to be more reliable and last longer traditional spinning hard drives and generally are. But, they do fail.
I bought an OCZ ssd and it failed in about 6 months. It was hard to get a warranty replacement also. I ended up with cheaper ssd than the one I originally purchased. They won't be getting my business again, that's for sure.

Well its been a year now and I still have not had a successful online report. Am I the only one?
I can't because I have a very old entry to the country, Plus I have gotten a new passport since then, Was told by immigration to do a border hop to get a new entry if I wanted to report online.
I have heard/read here old entries can be a problem. Mine was March 2015.

The Yamaha dealer in Patong only sells government compulsory third party liability insurance. At least that is what they told me 5 years ago when I bought the bike. Although they did sell me theft insurance (or maybe it was 1st class, I don't remember) for the first year but would not renew the second year. That was 2000 Baht.

I have used Budget rent-a-car. They delivered the car to my condo in Bangkok and I drove to Phuket. I used the car (Toyota Avaris) for a week. They picked up the car at my new apt. in Phuket. It cost me 10,000 Baht. I was quiet happy with the service.

Thank you all for your replies. I know about the cog wheel sign but can't find one in Kamala.
Much better to ask you kind folks than to drive around looking for the sign. I'm more comfortable keeping my eyes on the road and my mirrors.
I'll be going to Patong Monday morning.
Thanks again, very helpful

I got a quote for 3500 Baht. That was for 3rd class and did not include compulsory for a 2010 Yamaha Nouvo (purchased in Jan. 2011).
That price seems a bit high to me. What do you folks think?
1. Seems about right if you haven't paid up since 2011.
2. Or did you pay B3500/yr, previous years?
I meant I bought the bike in 2011. I have always had the government compulsory insurance that I purchase through the Yamaha dealer yearly and also pay tax at the same time.
The quote I just got was for one year of voluntary 3rd class insurance which is supplemental to the government compulsory insurance and was from a broker that is also a Thaivisa sponsor. This is the first time I have explored getting voluntary insurance. There would be no back insurance to pay.

Does anyone know of a place to get this done? I would prefer staying on the west coast to get it done, between Patong and Cherng Talay if possible.
While we are at it, can anyone recommend a place to get the tax sticker and compulsory insurance between Patong and Cherng Talay as well?
I'm sick of dealing with the Yamaha dealer in Patong where I bought my bike. They won't even service the bike anymore as they have closed the service center this month. Not that they ever gave good service anyway.

The LG aircon in the bedroom of my rented house self-destructed in the middle of the night. The fan blade disintegrated and scared the p*** out of me while I was sleeping. It made a hell of a lot of noise. It was only about 2 years old. The house owner wants me to pay for it of course.

Just to let you know:-
My one year extension for retirement ends on the 22nd May.
There is a chance that I might not be back in Thailand by this time, so, would have to go through all the rigmarole of getting another Non-Imm O visa.
A friend I work with, lives in Pattaya and was in the same predicament. He said he went to immigration two months early with all the usual paperwork for the extension, plus a flight itinerary showing that he would fly back to Thailand after the previous extension had expired. They gave him the extension early, so, have tried to do the same thing here.
Phuket immigration won't do it.
That sucks! Would Phang Nga allow you to apply for an extension even if you reside in Phuket? Maybe try there?
***Edit*** Never mind. After rereading it sounds like you have left already.

Thanks, I did not know she was doing that. She's a nice lady. It's been a couple years since I've seen her. I was starting to wonder if she was still around.Send an email to her at above address asking to be on her immigration news list.

Nobody told them at the Patong office. Did my 90 day report there Friday the 11th and they wanted 3 copies. Main page, arrival stamp w/departure card and retirement extension stamp.

39 in the moist spot under my arms. Gets hotter as you go lower too.

It would be only useful 4 or 5 months a year.
The rest of the year its basically too dangerous and rough ride to Patong.
Pure genius idea.
I agree. Submarines would provide a much better ride.

Life jackets will be mandatory but not provided.

Thai Bank Exchange Rates Website Down?

I have not been able to connect for a few days. This site gives current exchange rates for Thai banks and updates several times a day. I get a security warning and adding a security exception I still get a sever error message. I use Firefox and have tried Chrome and IE also and get the same results. I went to http://downforme.org/ and they report the site is up.
Can any of you connect?
Mods if you think this would be better in the IT forum go ahead and move it.
