  1. I thought wearing no mask and drinking beer on the beach at 11 pm was illegal. Most porobably he was kicked out of bar at 9 pm (current law) but wanted to continue drining on the beach, IMHO the Swedish man appears to be completely unaware of his environment and the public's paranoia (thai and foreigner) toward covid. The typical attitude of an uneducated foreigner of wanting everyone to see the world as he sees it. He said he was just chilling out drinking a beer ... I doubt it. Most probably by 11 pm he was drunk as a skunk and bothering the freelancers on the beach, and making himself a target. The way he is slouching on the chair in the police station it appears he is completely drunk and anything that comes out of his mouth should be taken with a grain of salt!
  2. The only message I am recieving from this article is stay far, far, far away from the Thai government. Do yout own covid testing and if positive then self-isolate ,,,do not go to a hospital. If bar/restaurant requires a covid negative test, then walk away the risks are too high. Do not cooperate, think like a hi-so Thai, As the saying goes "no good deed goes unpunished".
  3. The red plastic chair must have been a collectors item and hard to replace!
  4. Well, I am surprised that you are surprised that the original poster is surprised. I think we can all agree that we are seriously surprised. Welcome to Thailand, the land of surprises.
  5. I doubt this has much to do about preserving Thai culture but more to do with preserving the status quo. Granting freedoms to the masses could lead to loss of control from the his-so Thai elite who want to preserve their inherited status.
  6. Only 400 signatures? Not good. Just shows a lot of apathy from Pattaya business owners who don't see the big picture. If tourists can't get what they want they will go elsewhere (ie. Phuket, Bangkok). That simple! This will effect hotels. laundrettes, barber shops, convenience stores ... any business that relys on the tourist baht. Just because your business doesn't sell alcohol doesn't mean its not your business and, consequently, no need to get involved in signing the petition.
  7. What's this "hotlines" nonsense. Why not just fix the problem. Better still why not throw away this "Thailand Pass" into the trash bin of history where it belongs. This Thailand Pass is counterporoductive and achieves nothing. Does TAT not understand that the Thailand pass creates trvel anxiety and is a detterent to tourism.
  8. November 9, 2021 must be the celebrated Thai Airways bashing day. Overpriced tickets, no respect for customers, worst flight ever, underhanded political graft, incompetent business acumen ... I don't think any more constructive criticism can be added. Never flown with them but I will give them a try after the AseanNow forum stamp of approval.
  9. I have little respect for the Thai government when I read this nonsense. In Bangkok where covid is a bigger problem restaurants can serve alcohol to satisfy the Hi-So Thais. Very little to do with the science of restricting covid but more to do with money and how good your connections are. I can really appreciate the anger expressed by Pattaya restaurant owners. Then on top of this we have the midget-brain falangs playing one upmanship games "I know where to drink, I have connections, I'm better than you". I am really getting bored with the situation.
  10. I couldn't read the entire article, the BS was just too painful. No entertainment, no alcohol, empty streets, mandatory mask wearing, covid tests .... might as well stay at home.
  11. Hopefully this so called covid extension will be relegated to the dustbin of history and people can get back to normal life. With vaccines becoming more available (yesterday they anounced that Phizer was available to people 18+ at Central Festival) people allegedly stuck in Thailand can make their way back home.
  12. Not in the least. Ask yourself would you hit / damage someone's car if you felt you had been slighted. Let me turn the table on you, "Do you think you have the right to become judge and jury on all things".
  13. The two questions people should be asking are: (1) Does the foreigner have the right to hit the bonnet of the car. (2) Does the foreigner have the right to enforce a law that applies in hia own country. While I can appreciate his frustration, the answer to both the questions is "No". As to the law followed by Thais, my understanding is that the driver is to slow down when coming to a zebra crossing and not obligated to stop. Rightly or wrongly, the foreigner has to adjust. Just because you turned 80 does not give you entitlement. To be honest, he is much more fortunate than the French man who was stabbed to death when he took it on himself to stop a Thai pissing in the Bangkok canal at 3 am in the morning.
  14. "Focusing on high-end tourism has always been an ambitious target for Thailand" Albert Einstein's famous line: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." In this case we can substitute the word "Insanity" with the word "stupidity".
  15. Three weeks ago at the beginning of the lock down I see them drinking outside Tree Town in defiance. They made no attempt at being discreet. They were loud and no social distancing. It's difficult to be sympathetic as this is not a case of being in the wrong place, wrong time. Your typical uneducated cheap charlies who will not listen and only learn through hard knocks such as fines /imprisonment.
  16. Raring meaning: If you are raring to go, you are “full of enthusiasm and eagerness.” What enthusiasm or eagerness can any freigner have in investing in the Thai real estate market? High vacancy rate, poor governance, horrible immigration laws, military government, the list goes on.
