  1. HF,

You go a little bit the easy way isn't it? :o

I advised you to go to this local forum.

If you look at page 2,you will see my topic ; Nearest immigration office outside BKK .I received a detailed answer from Jayenram.Look at it.OK?

    As far as hospitals:

There is one (private) on the mainroad through Korat (coming from BKK) on your left side (about 100 mtr passing Lotus Tesco-on the right side) directly opposite a big Toyota dealer.

At the old crossing to Kong Kaen, follow the road to KK direction and about a 100 mtrs at your left you will find a (govt) hospital.

I was in both,(govt-14 yrs ago and private 3 yrs ago) .Don't expect fluent english from the staff.Treatment Ok and nice and polite.(As long as you pay the bills :D )

  2. I remember that one night in Germany.

We,my wife(Thai) and I (Dutch) were living in Germany during the final of euro 1988.We were shouting of exitement and the whole street was silent. They must have heared us :o

We are not really football fans but when it comes to the final,I hope they will win.

I will not stay awake to follow the match, however in the early morning I zap through 62 channels to find the result :D

  3. Thanks a lot everybody for the input.

Special thanks to the ones who mailed me (incl pics).

will ask 12call (I call him the forum googles) :o ,if he has website from Modernform.

  4. I already used 3 years in a row Budget.

They have limited availability in Korat but if you book on-line (like I always did) they make sure you will get what you want.

My car is always delivered to hotel in Korat very punctial and never had any problem.

  5. I agree with Guesthouse.

As a dutchman I lived in Germany,France,Indonesia, and Belgium.During the last 27 years I visited Thailand every year for 3 till 6 weeks holidays.

Since I live in Indonesia now for the last 5 years, these Thailand visits became more frequently.

Basically your personal (family) life must be in order. Married or batchelor doesn't matter.

Avoid financial problems, don't even start with them. This is already troublesom if you live in your home country but is double trouble if you are abroad.

In my case, with the 100% support of my family it would not have been possible.

*I met some nice people in the chat room.

Most probably I will meet some of them in the future.

If that will become regular meetings only the future can tell.

*I got bulks of information about visa regulations in a more or less personal way, which is nicer and easier than looking into very technical websites.

It guided me in making up my mind about going for retirement or spouse "visa" , by following the many questions/discussions and advices.

    *many interesting info about u.o.banking-satellite-phoneconnections.

*Just to-day got a very intersting information about kitchens.

*Networking is a possibility.I remember a plee for a special bloodtype a hlf year ago.Within a couple of hours there was respons and help from forum.

    *Fun or not?

  7. ProThaiExpat,

Times like this I feel most happy to be member of the Thaivisa Forum.

Thanks a lot PTE for this very detailed answer.

I certainly would appreciate to receive the addresses of Teka in BKK and in one of the nearest places to Korat .

We will have a wed and dry kitchen. Both not in open connection with other rooms. However I want to buy something that I like as far as looks and quality concerned. My wife ius used to the European styled kitchens but is not looking for a high class Siemens kitchen at high costs but also not too simple and to be regretted afterwards.

We will contact again if there is any more question. We will surely contact if our plans will bring us to CM.

Thanks again and I keep you posted

  8. craig,

www.bookingthailand will only give you some hotels in Pak Chong and Khoa Yai.Too far away from Korat.(about 80-90 kms south)

There is a website connected to Thaivisa that will give you more choices.

Nedkelly's advise is good, however completely depending on your personal interest.

There are also websites mentioned on the several threads in the local Isaan forum.

    Enjoy your stay

  10. Anybody has address of a kitchen supplier in or around Nakhorn Ratchasima?

No do it yourself shop, because I cannot do it myself :o

    Thanks

  11. Coming back to the original posting.

The (very) long postings of Yohan were in the beginning new and interesting and mostly well founded. He also refered to his own website with quite a lot of information.

However, being a frequent visitor of this forum , I started slowly to become annoyed by the massive input concerning certain topics.

It felt like he was pressing his opinion through anybodies throat, no matter their thoughts.

Not enough to ban in my opinion.(and not knowing the real reason)

  12. Up2U,

Your remark about your typical experience in many third world countries is very correct.

My last 6 years in Indonesia shows the same picture.

I am not even allowed to drive by myself here (company rules) because of the great risk involved if anything happen.

To be honest, when I compare Thailand now to Thailand 25 years ago the progress is enormously. When I compare to Indonesia now, I rather stay in Thailand.

I always drive by myself in Thailand (defensively ! ) and was never involved in any accident.

Long trips, I rent mini bus with driver (1500 Baht for 24 hours).

On this subject we mostly cannot compare our home countries with Thailand and should therefore act like that. My humble opinion
