  1. Thanks Crossy,

That simple explanation of kva and va and so on is just good enough for me.

I do have 4 emergency light that last for 9 hours on their batteries and they switch on automatically.

I will not have a change over switch.

If trouble starts I simply get the generator started and put the plug in.

It is not too often that there is electricity problem however last time it took 31/2 hours ( e new record) and just at bed time. :o

  2. I am a dummy in triplo when it comes to technical issues :D

The water supply in my house is coming from outside, filtered and held into 2 stainless storage tanks.

Every time there is a need for water ( shower, toilet, kitchen, solar,) a pump,Mitsubishi WP 205.M2 will put pressure and transport the water.

Sometimes the electricity fails. Of course always at the moment you want to take a shower or something like that.I want to buy a generator for these emergency situations.

I want to use the pump- a fan- and may be the tv.Just for the time the electricity is off.

    What type?

I found in homepro new offers.

    They showed Sakari generators

    1 type 2kva 4 HP at 23000 THB and the other 8kva 13HP at 48000 THB.

There are many models in between.

What type do I need for my above mentioned devices to be used?

    thank you

Sorry if the language is a little bit non-technical :o

  3. Early morning:

    Yahoo (homepage)

    Gmail

    Hotmail

    nvt(dutch club)

and I finish with one(1) game bejeweled2 on the yahoo(for relax)

    This is daily.

    regular:

My thai, usa and dutch bank on internet

MSN chat with my son in Holland

website of my former company (just retired shortly)

    maximum about 2 hours/day :o

  4. 11/2 hours in what direction?

    South ,better go to Bangkok

    North,better go to etc/etc.

Korat has several hospitals of which St Mary and RatchasimaThonburi are the most known.

    Serious business to Bangkok

  5. Funny , somebody digged that old stuff.

In the meantime I am already retired (in Thailand)

    I took a non-imm O-A (long stay ) with multiple entry

All our furniture done on returning Thai status of my wife.

We did not have any problems neither with the visa nor with the moving.

    Concerning the tax issue;

The Dutch tax authorities required full proof( documented) of tax payments done in the country of residence before issuing a statement to the retirement funds in ( in my case) Holland, not to substract taxes from my pension payments. This statement was valid for the next 3 years and I need to submit proof of tax payments in Thailand over my world wide income. If not done so I will still have to pay the bill over the last 3 years and the pensionfund will receive message from the dutch tax authorities to substract taxes ( and the fines !!!!!).

  6. The manual is:

    Publication No.OM99897EDOME

    printed 1st,December2004

    TOYOTA MOTOR THSILAND CO LTD

    186/1 Mu 1,Oldrailway Rd,Samrong Tai,

    A.Phrapradaeng,Samutprakarn 10130.

    Tel.0-2386-1000

    It reads on page 170:

This vehicle design feature causes this type of vehicle to be more likely to rollover. And,utility vehicles have a significantly higher rollover rate than other types of vehicles.............. It is not designed for cornering at the same speeds as ordinary passenger cars any more than slow-slung sports cars designed to perform satisfactorily under off-road conditions. Therefore, sharp turns at excessive speeds may cause rollover.

Not the word " risque " , but clear enough.

  7. I just finished this all in January.

My wife took our belongings as " a returning Thai" back to Thailand.

There is a rule about how many days (and the total number of visits) she is allowed to be in Thailand during the last year (or 1 1/2 year,I am not sure). If more thatn a certain number of days, the rule for returning thai will not apply.

We brought in a 40 ft container and let it handle (door to door) by a moving company. We never saw any customs officer or any other officials.

We brought ALL our stuff, because that's out life.

If you sell this at home you hardly will get any money for that and the emotional value is may be big.

    Good luck with your move

  8. Don't bring anything at all.

Your financial status must be known by now (if there is a communication between mum and daughter).

Behave yourself just a little bit better than normal because that is what it is all about.

Mum wants to know who is dating her daughter.

This is not a "sick cow" family.

I went to the same.Only I had to introduce to the siblings first (to get permission to meet the parents). But that is about 30 years ago :o

(in august I am married 28 years with that same person)

Don't pay attention to all those rural remarks, just be yourself

  9. Ken,

If you are situated in Korat, why are you going to Bua Yai.

Only 2 km's outside Korat city center is the office of min.of transport.

I brought u.o. my Amphur confirmation of residence and it was accepted without questioning.

Next time I bring my yellow tabien baan with me.

Amphur provided me with it to avoid being busy with continious requests about residency confirmation(that's what he said)

  10. I only put them on the floor which gives me a floorspace in two levels.

Between the higher level(the folded chairs) and the lower level is a nioce space to put the small shopping items.I also have the luckage net, to prevent things fallen out while openeing the back door.

I have 1700 km on the clock with an average of 36 km speed, which show you that I make a lot of small trips.

    Fuel consumption at 9,6km/lt

    Diesel makes much more noice.
