Dr. Yong: mRNA Vaccine Gives Higher Immunity As Booster
charmonman replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I am no mathematician but isn’t “log scale” a bit vague? Is it log scale 2 or log scale 10 or something else?Big difference. Is it 2 times vs 4 times or 10 times vs 100 times? Or is it “a little bit more”? -
The stress is for real. I am currently waiting for my Pass to be processed and beginning to regret I didn't wait a little longer.

I just applied for the new so-called Test and Go on Feb 1. After reading this and a few other things I am almost hoping I get rejected. They once again have created a complicated mess. I came back twice under the old COE/quarantine system. It was better than this <deleted>.

Country Ready to Resume Test & Go Entry on Feb 1
charmonman replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They should not be calling it the "resumption of TEST AND GO". This is not the same program they put in place November 1 last year and then suspended a month and a half later. This new program is twice as expensive, twice as inconvenient, and only marginally more effective, if at all. This is TEST GO STOP TEST GO AGAIN OR GO TO HOSPITAL. What a farce.- 37 replies

They could meet the less than %10 hospitalization condition almost immediately but stopping the policy of sending asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic cases to hospital.

Old VS New Test and Go Day 5 Question
charmonman replied to LP80's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Why couldn’t they have just brought back the original test and go, which seemed to be working well, instead of introducing new requirements that nobody understands and complicating things? I suppose once they figure out that very few people want to subject themselves to this <deleted> they will change their minds again. It would be nice if they could think these things through ahead of time. -
Thailand’s new entry fee – boon or bust for tourism?
charmonman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don’t think they’ll be collecting much money until they remove the covid insurance, the sandbox, ASQ, PCR tests, and all the other expensive obstacles put in the way in the wake of covid-19. 300 baht is virtually nothing compared to all the rest. -
Is Thailand rushing to categorize COVID-19 an endemic disease?
charmonman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In five years there will be nothing left. In two years half the population will be on suicide watch. How about giving people a little bit of hope instead of constantly beating them over the head with worst case scenarios? -
Is Thailand rushing to categorize COVID-19 an endemic disease?
charmonman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
“Thira suggested that the government monitor the situation for another year or two before deciding to downgrade COVID-19 into an endemic disease.” another year or two? Is he having a laugh? -
Could be a nice little earner for them. Now all they need is some tourists.

Gov’t boosting economic recovery through tourism
charmonman replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Is the Ministry of Sports and Tourism aware that the Ministries of Immigration and Health are currently doing everything in their power to make sure there will be a minimal number of tourists arriving in Thailand this year? 5-15 million tourists this year? Not under the current rules and restrictions which will likely be in place for months. -
Omicron is already in Thailand. Making it difficult and expensive for people to travel to Thailand will do nothing to change that, nor will it in any way seriously worsen the current situation where the vast majority of new cases are from local transmission, not from incoming travellers. This is particularly true when they have already tested negative before boarding their flight. Yes, a person who tests negative can still carry the virus but they are clearly less likely to do so when they have recently tested negative, more than you can say for most people currently going about their business in Thailand who have not been tested. The letter makes perfect logical and reasonable arguments for opening Thailand up, which almost guarantees the government will pay no attention to it.

COVID Insurance Arranged for Visitors upon Arrival
charmonman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As is typical, this article raises more questions than it answers. As previous posters have mentioned, covid-19 insurance is a condition of receiving a Thailand Pass. Without a Thailand Pass you can't even board a plane to go to Thailand. So how the heck are people arriving in Thailand without already having covid-19 insurance? It seems this is a question that should have been addressed in this article. I am constantly amazed by the sheer amount of shoddy journalism out there.- 111 replies
