Depends on your servicing immigration office....varies from office to office. Some will provide within a hour or so, some mail it to you a week or two later, some offer you the choice of getting it same day or having it mailed to you. Some charge Bt500...some charge a couple hundred baht. All depends on your serving immigration office. My servicing immigration office which is the BOI/Chamchuri Square Immigration Office in Bangkok only provide it one way: within one hour and at a charge of Bt500. Edit: Just remembered the resident certificate will state it's only good for 30 days....so don't get it too early. They are talking ceramic film for the windows. If you want the film you need to decide how dark you want the film on each window Some people like really dark film (blocks a lot of light) and some like film that don't block too much light. Block too much light and it can be hard to see at night. A lot of people go with 40-50% on the windshield, 60% on front seats windows, 80% on back seat windows, hatchback window and skylight. The 3,000 baht will be refund by BYD after you take possession of the car....they do a bank transfer at the end of the month if you accept the car by the 15th of the month. Can speak to when you make a partial payment since you said you are financing as I paid cash for my Atto. BYD takes car of the registration, insurance and tax sticker....you don't need to do nothing. When the ownership book (a.k.a., blue book) and white plate are provided from DLT to BYD you just go back to the dealership to pickup the book and the dealership swaps the red plates for the white plates.

I expect as a general rule of thumb guesstimate for how many EV bookings complete the sale to the registration stage is probably around 2 out of 3....two-thirds. Various news articles have talked vehicle financing loan "approval" rates ranging from around 50 to 80%. Yea vehicle bookings often do not result in a final sale/registration and that is true whether the vehicle is an EV, ICEV, or HEV.

Regarding "free wall chargers with installation" which use to be pretty much a standard "BYD" freebie (with the usual exception of the Dolphin model) when I look at the current Dec 2024 BYD promotions they only offer a free wall charger with installation for BYD models Sealion 6 DM-I (BYD's PHEV model) and the Dolphin Extended (but not the Dolphin Standard). All other models like the Atto, Seal, Sealion 7, and M6 do not get the freebie wall charger. Plus, EV chargers can now be easy bought online like at Lazada and Shopee at pretty low prices. And many are the type of EV chargers where a person can set its max amperage draw only 8A to 16A which allows the charger to usually work on a standard 16A home wall socket vs possibly having to install additional 40A amperage wire, circuit breaker, meter, etc., for a 32A/7KW wall charger. This also means the only installation cost for a 16A or less wall charger might just the cost of the nail to hang the charger on the wall next to a 220V/16A outlet.

That 1,084 is probably a high number Geely pulled from its backside hole or Geely's entire available stock to Thailand.

Mr Toyota needs to announce another new Toyota revolutionary hydrogen engine, solid state battery, or perpetual motion hybrid, etc., or some other awesome Toyota invention that "just around the corner, will be arriving very soon in Toyota models, it will kill off EVs, etc.,"....but until then Mr Toyota recommends to everyone they buy Toyota ICEV and HEV and don't buy those durn Chinese made EVs. I think even many of the anti-EV Youtubers are getting tired of Toyota's announcements of greener Toyota pastures just over the next hill as many viewers figure out they are being gas-lighted.

Where does the April 17,000 bookings for EVs number come from? I didn't see that number in the weblink you gave. Maybe you are talking EV bookings from the Mar-Apr 2024 Motor Show?

Today I dropped by a BYD Dealership to charge-up with some free electrons. While my Atto was sucking in those free electrons I went into the dealership showroom to part-take of free snacks, look at the varies models, etc., The showroom had 1 Sealion, 1 Seal, 1 Atto, 2 Dolphins, and 2 M6 on display. The Sealion and Seal were side-by-side and the Sealion looked like a significantly larger car than the Seal. Now that was more of a visual illusion since the Seal is not really that much smaller per specs. For about 30 minutes I watched customers and it was obvious the Sealion was getting the most attention by the customers. And two sets of customers were at sales tables with sales people doing serious talk/paperwork in buying a Sealion. Yeap, for right now the Sealion is the new girl in the club and getting a lot of attention....I'm sure the Sealion is going to have good sales/registrations over the coming months.

The Sealion 7 has only be on sale for a very short time in Thailand....not enough time to complete the "registration" process.

Update: Booking numbers after 10 of 13 days of the ongoing Motor Expo 2024....3 days of bookings number yet to go. For last year's Expo Honda edged out BYD for 2nd place, but for this year it looks like BYD just might edge-out Honda for 2nd place unless Honda bookings surge over the next few days...and that could easily occur since the booking numbers for various brands have varied quite a bit from day to day. Good luck on finding "any maintenance/shop" manual on EVs. All I've ever seen is the owners manual.

I found an identical one in Lazada based on the images you posted above. From review of the specs it should work find and you can adjust the max amperage down from 32A to lower amperages such as 16A, 13A, 10A, or 8A if needed because you only have a 16A (or less) household socket outlet. You would need to ensure it comes with that 32A to 16A household socket adapter shown in the picture you to use it in a household socket. And if you had adequate electric service/wiring you can also use it at 32A/7KW. To determine max power output/draw just use the formula of P (power) = I (current) times E (voltage)....easily remembered as the "PIE" (i.e., like you eat) formula.. Examples: 32A times 220V = 7,040 watts (7KW).....13A times 220V = 2,860W ((2.9KW), etc...etc....etc.

I would go by whatever it says on the deposit paperwork....the document signed. See below regarding the deposit experience at the ongoing Motor Expo 2024 where a guy put a deposit down on a different brand....the Mini Cooper brand....then changed his mind. Now BYD's policy may be much more forgiving...I don't know.

What kind of dealership/service center structure does Geely have in Thailand? What happens if you buy a Geely but there is no dealership/service center support in your area? Ship it to Bangkok for service maybe? My gosh, now the ability of an EV to accelerate faster than an ICEV is a danger!? If so, then wouldn't the ability of a typical V8 or V6 ICEV to accelerate faster than a typical 4 cylinder ICEV also be danger to children? Of course any driver who accelerates too fast in whatever machine they are driving....an EV, ICEV, or HEV....could (maybe) be danger depending on the road & traffic situation they are in. If you haven't driven an EV before you really need to go do a test drive. Yes, the acceleration/torque of the EV will impress you when you "really push down" on the fuel pedal....you will automatically realize it has a greater acceleration capability than your ICEV. But it's not like the acceleration is so great the tires are now burning rubber and you are being pressed back into you seat like in a jet fighter taking off. Oh no, that stuff is for the movies and maybe some anti-EV social media videos. Instead, it's just a difference you can easily notice in comparison to the ICEV you've been driving. It was easy for me to notice the difference in my first drive of my BYD Atto in comparison my Toyota Fortuner 3.0 Diesel when really pressing down on the fuel pedal. And the stopping ability of an EV is better than an ICEV due to the EV regen braking ability combined with the physical brakes....that's a safety plus.

First, since installation of a 7KW wall charger is presenting challenges (and healthy cost) you need to decide if you can effectively live with an EV "without a 7KW/32A wall charger" and just a portable approx 2KW/10A wall charger for most of your day-to-day charging needs. Now the answer is "of course you can" as long as you live somewhere has a typical 3-wire 16A household electrical outlet you can easily and securely access. By securely access I mean leave the portable charger plugged in like overnight while charging without fear of the charger being stolen. And of course you will need to ensure the circuit that 16A outlet is on is not already powering a bunch of other households items which might cause the circuit breaker for that 16A outlet to trip due to overload when you plug in the 10A portable charger....like the circuit is already drawing say 8A as it powers an A/C, a TV, a microwave, fan, lights, etc., which means 8A plus another 10A charger would be 18A and would cause the circuit breaker to trip after a while if it's a 16A breaker....but if it's a 20A or more breaker you are good to go. Typical household sockets are usually on a 16A or 20A circuit breaker. But I expect whatever 16A socket you will hopefully have in your carport area will be able to easily handle a portable charger....even one that is a little larger than 2KW/10A. You might even be able to get away with a 3.6KW/16A charger although I would make sure the outlet is at least a 20A outlet and circuit breaker. OK, let's say you decide a portable charger will be just fine for you....lots of EV owners get by just fine with a portable charger. Now with that worry, bee buzzing around you head out of the way, you just need to decide on what EV you like the best and can afford. That's a personal decision as personal tastes and also finances vary greatly from individual to individual. Since you seem to be focused on the Atto and M6 right now and since they are very similarly spec'ed and priced EVs it really comes down to which one you like best...feels/rides the best to you. And when it comes to those 2 extra seats in the M6 "for me, what I need" they would be a waste...just in the way...stay folded down all the time for cargo space----just like the 2 extra seats in my 2009 Toyota Fortuner...actually those 2 extra Fortuner seats are more in the way than useful and I've only used those 2 seats "one" time to seat people when I first got the car right after buying it in late 2008....those seats haven't been used to seat people since. Cheers.

One of his most laughable interesting points is around the 1:49 to 2:40 video timeframe when talks how many "...hundreds, if not thousands, of traction battery parts that move...not mechanically but microscopically...." Now he was talking the chemical process of lithium ions and electrons flowing thru the battery because that's a how a lithium battery works in your phone, laptop, EV, etc. Now what he was doing was trying to make an EV traction battery sound dangerous, scary, etc. I wonder if he had been an anti-ICEVer if he would have described the ICEV engine combustion process as a bio-logical warfare machine since the combustion process emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, and a variety of other harmful chemical compounds. And if it can create on those dangerous compounds what if something goes really wrong during the combustion and a mini-black hole is created that destroys the Earth. I'm might have nightmares tonight about driving my Toyota Fortuner diesel. And I may even dream about shrinking to the microscopic level and getting caught in a battery with all those scary moving ions and electrons. My god....these EV and ICEV machines we drive are dangerous!!!!! 😜

Pricey....and a good portion of that price is since they are only offering higher end wall chargers which includes fancy settings/display/wifi/app. Even the ZENCAR Wpro 7.4Kw apparently has Wifi and an app. And for each installation meter above 15m is probably being charged at Bt400-Bt500 per meter which includes the wire, conduit, and misc installation parts. And just as FYI "if" a 2nd meter/wiring had been required (but it not in your case) that would have added approx another Bt10K-15K to the cost due to larger wiring requirement, more installation costs, and some payment to the electric company for the 2nd meter & inspection. When I bought my Atto in Oct 2023 with free wall charger installation if I remember right that was "BYD valued" at around Bt25K (i.e, charger with installation) but in came with a simple ZHida 7.4KW wall charger that has no display/fancy settings/nor uses Wifi or an app....it simply used a RFID card to turn it off on and the charger and installation came with a 2 year warranty. I didn't have any additional installation costs as I have a 100A service and they only needed 11 meters of wire. The simple Zhida charger has worked just fine after having it for around 13 months now. On Lazada at the time the very same Zhida charger was going for around Bt11K. Now, when looking at the BYD Rever Automotive website at the bottom is all I can find about free wall charger with installation when the vehicle you buy comes with the free wall charger. And I'm sure what BYD pays a contractor for a wall charger installation is a lot less than the retail price you are being quoted. Anyway, free 7.4KW wall charger with installation is a nice value-added component when buying an EV....it's worth at least Bt25K and probably more like around/over Bt36K if a person has to pay retail price and can't get the low price that a large company like BYD can get. Plus, less headaches in arranging the installation. I'm surprised free wall charger with installation is not being offered now when buying an Atto....maybe that's how BYD is partially offsetting the Atto's current promotional price which is Bt50K lower than before the promotion began.

Oh my gosh, just after the first few minutes where this guy says EVs are a lot more expensive, EVs are for wealthier people, inconvenient for most to drive, making the EV construction sound like it's as complicated as building a spaceship, etc., it told me this guy is just another anti-EVer surely getting some backdoor money from legacy US car manufacturers and the fossil fuel industry. I then continued to scan thru the video where he continued his anti-EV propaganda...excuse me, I mean his perspective. But his perspective is full of intentional misinformation. Now I will admit "in the U.S." EVs are pricey predominately due to customers being a captive audience to legacy car manufacturers (i.e., the GMs, the Fords, etc) who can't make EVs as cheap or offer a wide variety of EV models as Chinese manufacturers do. And it seems they can't make as good of an EV (excluding Tesla) because they have dragged their feet in developing their own EV technology. But as low cost and quality EVs continue to be sold in huge numbers outside the U.S., many in U.S. population will eventually wonder why can't they buy one of those low cost and quality EVs which is replacing legacy ICEV just like the ICEV replaced horses & buggies. Transition to a new technology can be painful to many.....just like how online stores (i.e, Lazada, Shoppee, Amazon, etc) have put a lot of Mom & Pop brick-and-mortar stores out of business because Mom & Pop didn't (or couldn't) adapt new sales technology. But with each Mom & Pop store that went out of business an equal or more number of online stores came into existence to create jobs, tax revenue, etc. Yeap, transition from old to new can indeed be painful to include lots of resistance and propaganda during the transition.
