  1. NO it isn't. I can remember back in the bad old days at Suan Phlu when it was like a madhouse there.
  2. I do my marriage extension myself using the monthly income method. The Immigration office that I use is in Kamphaeng Phet and is not only user friendly but farang friendly and very helpful. There are no "hidden" or unexpected charges and to my knowledge no agents seem to be available there either, I have been using that branch for more than 12 years now. When I did my extension last year in October they politely reminded me that it was only valid until July as I needed a new passport before then. Not ALL immigration offices are the same.
  3. Quote "The country seems to be in the hands of these crooks who wield all the power?" I would like to change one word in your last line. "The country seems to be in the hands of these crooks who wield STOLE all the power?"
  4. I am not so sure that if the USA halted all arms shipments to Israel, that it would make that much difference, certainly in the short term. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_industry_of_Israel The defense industry of Israel is a strategically important sector and a large employer, as well as a major supplier of the Israel Defense Forces. The country is one of the world's major exporters of military equipment, accounting for 10% of the world total in 2007. Three Israeli companies were listed on the 2017 Stockholm International Peace Research Institute index of the world's top 100 arms-producing and military service companies: Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries and RAFAEL.[1][2] It is also a major player in the global arms market and is the 6th largest arms exporter in the world as of 2014.[3] Total arms transfer agreements topped $12.9 billion between 2004 and 2011.[4] There are over 150 active defense companies based in the country with combined revenues of more than $3.5 billion annually.[5] Israeli defense equipment exports reached $7 billion in 2012, making it a 20 percent increase from the amount of defense-related exports in 2011. With the war in Ukraine, arms exports reached $12.5 billion in 2022.[6] Much of the exports are sold to the United States and Europe. Other major regions that purchase Israeli defense equipment include Southeast Asia and Latin America.[7][8][9] India is also major country for Israeli arms exports and has remained Israel's largest arms market in the world.[10][11] What may or will make a big difference, is how many defence workers have been called up and either injured or wounded in the current conflict. It may be however that those workers, both male and female may be exempt from military service as essential personnel. That is something I have no knowledge about. It also maybe that in the short term Israel could temporarily halt arms exports and divert those exports for its own use. It is of little use for the UN and governments worldwide to keep talking and wringing their hands. IMHO it is long past the time for talking and time for the world to actually DO something to stop BOTH sides from continuing this senseless, pointless slaughter of the innocent people on BOTH sides. Neither Netanyahu nor who is running Hamas this week, ( As of November 2023, Yahya Sinwar continues to be the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Hamas control of the northern part of the Gaza Strip came to an end in January 2024, according to Israeli government statements), seem to have any interest in stopping this. Hamas have attempted to do something with the ceasefire plan that Qatar and Egypt have come up with, although they want to modify it. Netanyahu and Israel have rejected the plan outright. Where does the world go from here I wonder? My thought is to take Netanyahu and Yahya Sinwar into a room and bang their heads together to knock some sense into them, until they come to a peace plan.
  5. The main problem is that President Biden can't MAKE it happen. Netanyahu IS the problem as he will reject ANY deal that involves Hamas. He personally is probably the main and possibly the only problem to a settlement and an end to the slaughter and destruction on both sides. If both he and the Hamas leader were no longer in the picture and moderate persons were in control on both sides, it would be so much easier and safer. One possible way might be for the US and probably Iran to stop funneling weapons and money to each side, and for each of them to say to both Hamas and Israel, enough is enough. If there are ANY more attacks from either side, retribution will be swift and painful. I don't think that is possible though.
  6. My next 90 day report is due on 25th February. As my Immigration off ice is 70 away I though that I would give the "new" 90 day online a road test. It took me about 10 minutes to register on 02 February, some 23 days early, so I thought that having registered I would actually apply on Tuesday 13 February. However in my email inbox this morning was a new extension dated valid to 25 May 2024. Done and completed in 5 days or 3 working days. I am impressed. It has saved me or my wife, a 140km and a 2 and a bit hour, round trip.
  7. Oh dear. Those VVVIP "concerned netizens" have found something else to whine about now. Don't they EVER give whining a rest now and again? If that is a photo of the lady she looks very attractive. It also seems from the text that she was a participant in beauty contests before she joined the police.
  8. Most of them I should think.
  9. Just because the Education ministry has removed the post from their website, does not mean that it has been deleted forever. I have no doubt that a few "concerned netizens" will have downloaded it.
  10. Arresting the grandmother for what? Even WITH video evidence against the abbot the police seem to have done nothing. Without the video evidence, who would take the word of the grandmother over that of the "revered" abbot?
  11. It may have been a translation error, and perhaps the Israeli's name was Elias and not Alias.
  12. Not only does your friends bank have its rules, but the country central banks have their rules as well and the country can change its banking rules at any time. If something is OK now, who can forecast what will happen 2 or 3 years into the future.
  13. So, nothing to do with Thailand at all. I am sure that I could find lots of cases similar to this worldwide, but this thread is specifically about a 7 year old girl in Thailand, and not about the rest of the world. If I could be bothered to search I have no doubt that I could find lots of links about religious and non-religious persons doing a lot of good works with children world wide, Running orphanages, charities etc but it would not be specific to Thailand. I could also find examples of non-religious persons interfering with children, teachers among them, worldwide, but that too would be meaningless too.
  14. What has that got to do with a 7 year old Thai girl allegedly raped by an abbot?
  15. I trusted my own more than the hospital reading. That day my home readings were 128/72/79 compared to their 99/48/71 or 131/63/73.
  16. Perhaps a broken blunt rusty sawblade would be a better tool.
  17. I just made some cheese and streaky bacon scones this morning in my air fryer (on its last legs I think) I over cooked them and I think that the baking powder is well beyond its best before date, as they didn't rise. I only use baking powder mixed with plain flour because I can't find self raising flour.
  18. The problem that I have is that I am not certain about the accuracy of my BP tester. However I am the only one that uses it. They have many BP testers of different types at the hospital that are used by so many people every day. I tend not to believe their readings over mine though. One reading at the hospital last week gave me a reading of 99/48/71. The next reading, straight after was 131/63/73.
  19. Or you end up in hospital for several days and nights after blacking out. That happened to me twice last year and there were NO warning symptoms.
  20. I don't have to prove me right. You have to prove that you are right.
  21. Are you saying that I shouldn't be? Who elected you as the grand PooBah?
  22. And who will get the credit for that?
  23. But Trump wouldn't. Probably because he would not have got that far anyway.
