  1. Thank you for that information. I will contact them this week.
  2. The last time (9 years ago) before VFS was around I did the replacement through Hong Kong and I had to use my friends card. Now you tell me one thing about paying for the passport and another poster tells me something different. Not hat it matters overmuch at this point, as I still have a year to go.
  3. Thank you for the information. I think I will have to ask my son in the UK, perhaps my friend or her daughter for their card details but I still have another year before my passport expires. I am 79 and I can walk about 25 metres before I need to stop, sit, relax and breathe slowly for a few moments, then it is sort of rinse and repeat again. I know that VFS has an office at the trendy office building in Bangkok which is open 5 days a week, and another in Chiang Mai which is not open every day. We live about half way between the two. My wife has family in Bangkok if we need to stay overnight, (she is my driver now) but she may want to leave early and do the round trip in one day. I have no agent and have no idea where to find one.
  4. Which company did you use and did you pay in cash (thb), Thai bank credit or debit card or an offshore bank credit or debit card. The reason I ask, is that I live about half way between Bangkok and Chiang Mai and I have 1 year left on my passport. I can pay in cash or with a KBank debit card but I don't have any UK bank cards.
  5. Instead of bleating about it to me on an obscure English language forum in Thailand why don't YOU do something about it in the UK? Now as you feel so deeply about the monarchy, why don't YOU personally start a referendum on the future of the royalty? You don't have to worry about my vote as I have been out of the UK longer thatn 15 years. Here is a clue on how to do it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendums_in_the_United_Kingdom
  6. How do you know that he hasn't gone to the White House resident doctor? A lot of speculation on your part.
  7. Another question for you. The current illegal coup government generals found a way? Prayuth simply granted an amnesty for all past, present and future acts. Who is to say that they have not done the same for Thaksin?
  8. And the income from the Duchy of Cornwall actually goes to the state where a portion is paid as the salary of the Royal family. quote "Finally, what exactly is the point of to a man swearing allegiance who has not earned your allegiance?" How do you know whether King Charles lll has earned your allegiance? You don't know either me or King Charles lll and from your very biased post you have no idea what swearing allegiance is all about. Didn't you see the big yellow signs "Not my King" on TV? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-65542558 Yes I did, and I also saw what a very small crowd actually turned up for it compared to those ordinary people who celebrated the coronation. Do you understand who the ordinary people are? Do you understand democracy, where the majority choose what THEY want and not what YOU want?
  9. Well your post puts me in my place as I am 79. I pledged my allegiance to QE 2 when I signed up and did 25 years service in the RAF. I then renewed that allegiance to King Charles lll after his coronation this year. The palaces that they live in do NOT belong to them but to the state. The crown jewels don't belong to the royalty either, neither can they sell any of the palaces which are provided for them over the centuries. If you get rid of them, will you also get rid of all the staff that are employed by the state to work for them? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Households_of_the_United_Kingdom The Duchy of Cornwall brings in a vast income to the government, which in turn spends around 15% of that on the Royal Family, whilst the rest goes to finance many othe projects in the UK. In all the photos and videos I have seen over the decades, including the street parties for King Charles lll coronation there have been thousands and thousands of happy people. In contrast to your view I have never seen any street party asking for the abolition of the monarchy, nor have I seen any demonstrations of dozens of people demanding the abolition of privileged people. Perhaps you can post some links that prove me wrong. Perhaps you could even explain what and who you mean by "privileged people".
  10. Good luck if you believe that the military are controlled by the individual states. You may get a nasty surprise if you believe that. ALL of whom are controlled but the national government who give the orders. Sure there will be a very small minority who may ignore their orders and will face swift punishment for doing so. ALL the states have a National Guard which are nominally controlled by the state governors but in reality are also controlled by the central government.
  11. Your post shows the difference between somebody who does some research before posting, and somebody who doesn't. Mind you, the Thaksin haters on this forum will simply ignore it. Thank you.
  12. What a difference between the two brothers, and it stands out just in this photo alone.
  13. That is your opinion, yet millions of other UK people would disagree with you, including me. They do far more for the UK and bring in far more income in the way of taxes, visitors and as employers, than you could or would in a dozen lifetimes.
  14. This is the reason why so many people distrust politicians words. Opening your mouth and shouting out that you have the proof when in fact 1 you have no idea what you are talking about anyway, and 2 you don't actually have proof of anything, and 3 you have no idea if the proof/tapes/documents ever existed in the first place, and 4 you keep on throwing stuff at the wall hoping that some very slim shred will stick.
  15. I go to the local state hospital and get the doctor there to sign the form. It takes about 5 minutes and costs me 50 baht every year or so. If the doctor cannot see and certify that I am alive, then I am sure that nobody else is capable.
  16. Maybe they do to you but not to me. I would far rather that president Biden made the occasional blunder than the daily torrent of falsehoods and lies of his predecessor. This of course is only my opinion.
  17. If any government in Thailand wants to save water then ban Songkran where billions of litres of water are wasted every year. Go back to the old proper version of Songkran.
  18. You need to read different news sources. Can you name these wonderful people and the political party they belonged to?
  19. Who takes any notice of what ChatGPT and Bard tells you? Thus speaks a rich farang who has no idea how poor Thais live.
  20. Rubbish. I agree that SOME doctors have their own clinics but they are mainly senior doctors and specialists. Visit any government hospital and you will find some patients have been there since 5 or 6 am and there are hundreds of patients and only a limited number of doctors. How long should a doctor spend with a patient? Anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes depending on the patients symptoms and if they need other treatment such as X-Rays, blood tests, ECG etc. The patients get sent off for them and then are called back to see the doctors to get the results, treatments and medicines. During the number of times I have been to state hospitals I have never seen any doctor turn a patient away. Doctors and nurses are human just like the rest of us and they need meal and rest breaks. On the inpatient side there may only be 1 or 2 doctors on call to cover a number of wards and a nurse may have to cover 1 or 2 wards of up to 20 or more patients each and the cover is 24/7. The more staff that resign early puts more strain on the remaining staff.
  21. I find it laughable that so many people jump on him if he says something different or out of the norm. It is not as if they have never done anything similar in their perfect little lives. To me it proves that he is human, and not a habitual liar like his predecessor.
  22. I had to do a Google search to find out who Ed Davey actually is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Davey Sir Edward Jonathan Davey FRSA (born 25 December 1965) is a British politician who has served as Leader of the Liberal Democrats since 2020.[a] He served in the Cameron–Clegg coalition as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change from 2012 to 2015 and as Deputy Leader to Jo Swinson in 2019. An "Orange Book" liberal,[3] he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kingston and Surbiton since 2017,[4] and from 1997 to 2015. I almost did another Google search to find the Liberal party of the UK.
  23. I have no idea what he did with it. Do you? Because Pita bought 2 tickets from the seller. Can you imagine Prayuth even speaking to the lottery seller. let alone buying tickets? That the tickets came up as a winner was the luck of the draw.
  24. Sigh. And where is the proof that you keep bleating about? If you have it, then publish it. If you don't have the proof, then please stop with your baseless allegations and grabbing at any passing straw.
