Harry has turned against military, says ex-commander

Harry is now becoming a laughing stock and the butt of many jokes worldwide. I don't think that he has realised, or thought through the possible causes of his actions. -
Harry has turned against military, says ex-commander
billd766 replied to Scott's topic in World News
My first brother died in 1928, some 16 years before I was born and I never knew him. My adopted (middle) brother was 13 years older than me, so no sibling rivalry there. My Dad died when I was 14 years old, which left my Mum and me. Neither of us whined or moaned about it. We accepted as a fact of life (or death if you wish) and got on with our lives. Harry is bitching so much about how the press hounds him and won't leave him or Meghan alone. Yet whenever I bother to read about him it is about his (ghostwritten) book or the Netflix series or how he wants his father and brother back and it is up to them to heal the breach. What he seems to be doing, at least to me, is that every time he opens his mouth, is making the breach wider and deeper. That is NOT the way to do it. When he married Meghan he was 34, big enough and old enough to talk his plans for the both of them through with the family. To listen to the advice given, and to take that advice or not. He chose to do it his way and now he has to deal with his life as it is now. Publicly whining, complaining and blaming everybody for your own mistakes and problems is not the way to win friends or bring you back to your family. A tale that my Mum told me years ago is still true today for most people. "You've made your bed and now you lie in it." Meaning https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/you-ve-made-your-bed-now-lie-in-it "said to someone who must accept the unpleasant results of something they have done" or https://www.dictionary.com/browse/you-ve-made-your-bed--now-lie-in-it "You made a decision and now must accept its consequences." I used to have some sympathy for Harry, but not any more due to his current antics. -
The whole thread is about a Thai monk, his Thai daughter and it took place in Thailand. It doesn't matter to Thailand what happens in the roman catholic church in the rest of the world as Thailand cannot change that fact, nor can the rest of the world change what what happens in Buddhist Thailand. That would be the subject for a new thread.

Harry has turned against military, says ex-commander

How about his grandfather George Vl, who was also a spare, yet became King George Vl in 1936 when his brother Edward Vlll abdicated? Or even his Aunt Anne and Uncle Edward who were also Spares. I don't remember either of them whining about that. Yet Anne and Edward carried on and did their duties without complaint. He supposedly wants reconciliation with his father and brother and if he does this is probably the worst way to go about it. -

That would make me an admirable person as well. I served QE II in the RAF for 25 years in the RAF from 1960 to 1984. To me he comes across as a whiney spoilt brat who is big enough and old enough to make his own mistakes without blaming anybody else. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-64197679 He claims to have only cried once after his mothers death. Why did he not cry in the privacy of his own home when he was on his own? Is he the only person in the world to have lost his mother? He supposedly had a fight with his brother and his necklace got broken. What brothers don't fight each other sometimes? What I have noticed is that all these claims etc are the ones that he makes. None of the other members of the Royal Family respond to it. -
I am also a Brit and I contact my pension providers 3 to 44 months in advance to get a copy of my pension details. Sometimes the IO will look at them and sometimes not. I am also using the income method for my marriage extension. I get my pensions transferred directly to my UK Wise account. I then send them to my BBL account in Thailand using the funds for living in Thailand. That takes a little longer, around 24hrs, unless it is a weekend or bank holiday in Thailand. It show as a FTT or foreign transfer in my bankbook and on my statements. You didn't mention which IO office you do the extension. Most are the same but some IO may ask for more information. I use a small office in Kamphaeng Phet who are farang friendly and very helpful. I have attached 2 PDF files, one in English and 1 in Thai with their requirements (they would like the docs in their order) and it worked for me a couple of months ago. The two best people on this Visa forum to go to are UbonJoe or LopBuri3. They DO know their stuff, and are more than willing to help anybody, without being critical or snotty about it. The PDF files you will probably need to expand to a comfortable size for you to read and you can write on them too. Good luck visa extension documents list from John Spooner.pdf visa extension documents list.pdf

Last year I saw it in my younger neighbour and her 16 year daughter, my elder neighbour's 12 year old granddaughter and in my 17 year old son. Having said that my elder neighbour, my wife and I never caught it. This year my 17 year old son had a Monday off school whilst it was being disinfected after 5 of his classmates caught it. If you think it is all BS that is up to you. I know differently from personal experience.

quote "Also, how many did she have on board - 105 or so? Where did they put them all?" There were just about enough life jackets for the original crew but they picked up extra passengers en route that weren't planned for. As for where they were put, it would have been in the crew mess decks and for sleeping they would have used hot racking. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_racking Hot racking (also known as hot bunking or hot bedding) is the sanctioned practice within military organizations of assigning more than one crew member to a bed or "rack" to reduce berthing (sleeping) space.[1]

I, and a few other expats DID change Thailand in the 1990s. My patch was from Pak Thong Chai district up to Nong Khai and Loei, across to Nakhon Pathom, down beside the Mekong to Ubon Ratchathani, across to Buriram and back to Pak Thong Chai district. Initially I was the only commissioner, then I got a Thai guy Motorola had trained up and we were bringing 16 to 20 sites on air every week. I was working with Motorola and DTAC where 6 of us were out every week installing 1G and 2G. I came back again in 2001 installing and commissioning CDMA. The forerunners of 3G, 4G and now 5G. Nokia was doing the same with AIS.

Please stop what? Responding to your posts? Posting that the majority or IOs are good, and do a good job? So my experience with many IO is meaningless compared to one IO. Then make a formal complaint to the head of the IO. Well over 90% of the IOs are good They are trying to stem corruption and what better way than using that person as an example. By ignoring or tolerating that IO simply leaves them to carry on doing what they have done for years.

Do you know the victim personally? Was he in the habit of bringing large sums of money back to Thailand? If your answer is no then it is you that has no clue. I cannot think of any expat that I know who would wander around with 20,000 quid in his pocket. It seems that he was not robbed and if, according to your ridiculous theory the money was at his home it would be easier to follow him home, kill them both and then steal the money. That theory has as much validity as yours, but I know it is a load of rubbish as I was the one that wrote it.

It will be interesting to see the Thailand Covid statistics in 3 months time, and compare the number of western tourists who have been hospitalsed compared to the number of Chinese tourists. Especially as that will be in the lead up to the election when the government has been set free (55555) for the election, and there is only a caretaker government.

No I would not have ended up needing a 60 day extension. It is called forward planning. I knew that when I had finished the job in New Zealand during May of 2009, that I would need a retirement visa extension. I used the Thai Visa files to find out what I needed to do, how, where and what documents were needed, then went ahead and did it. That was in December when I was in Thailand or the New Year It has every relevance to the OP situation simply by the fact that I had been doing extensions for 10 years previous and earned my lessons. I use PPPPPP as a reminder. "Proper Prior Planning Prevents <deleted> Poor Performance" Planning ahead and asking for advice generally saves time and trouble. Leaving things to the last minute is always asking for problems as the OP has found. What I would have done in his place is gone to Immigration 30 days before and asked the IO quietly and politely for help with my problem. Most IOs are helpful, especially if it will make their job easier
