  1. That may apply to holidays, but if not able to afford to live in LOS one is trying to live above one's means. The answer is not to come on here and complain, but to live within one's means, even if that means not eating at Dukes or drinking and smoking and renting women.
  2. For me, Thailand is far better value for money than any western country. It's not even expensive unless one wants to live like a nob, and eat at Dukes, LOL. My hotel room all included was a zillion % better than the only thing I can afford back home for more than I was paying in LOS, which is only slightly above living in my car.
  3. If anyone thinks the food is the most important thing in their life I pity them. It all ends up looking the same. More to life than restaurants.
  4. BS. Perhaps you were cheated and overcharged, but most won't be. I generally paid the same as a Thai paid. The exception was national parks and I didn't bother with them, except Samet one time.
  5. LOL. I earned 10 quid a week when I started, equivalent to $20. Board was 4 quid, so that left me 6 quid to live on. Had I gone without any of the pleasures of life, I might have saved 3 quid a week. How much would my $312 have become if I "invested" it back then? While youths earn more in devalued money today, the same will apply to them in 50 years time. The best investment I made was in buying a house and land- it more than doubled in value in 5 years, but the worst thing I ever did was being with a bad woman who got it all. She did fine for sod all input. So, my advice is forget about the cunning investment strategies devised by bankers to part us from as much of our money as they can, and buy property, but never never never get involved with a woman unless with an iron clad pre nup that leaves them with none of it when the divorce happens.
  6. The Dems are becoming increasingly desperate to win, IMO. Not surprising when considering the lemon candidate they got imposed on them, a person that never won any vote by the citizens to say that they wanted her as POTUS. As time goes by the awful truth about her becomes more and more obvious, despite them keeping her hidden as much as possible.
  7. The war widens. Now the Iraqis are attacking israel as well. https://www.timesofisrael.com/2-idf-soldiers-killed-24-wounded-in-iraq-drone-attack-on-golan-heights-base/ Two Israeli soldiers were killed and 24 were wounded in a drone attack by an Iran-backed militia in Iraq early Thursday morning, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Friday. ........................................ According to an IDF probe, two explosive-laden drones were launched from Iraq in the attack, one of which was shot down by air defenses and the second impacted an army base in the northern Golan Heights several minutes later.
  8. Perhaps growing up killing "the enemy" on PC games leads them to think war is just like a PC game and "the enemy" isn't real people.
  9. It's not the staff's job so it would not be included unless their job description was amended, and it was that that I was referencing, in case the management tried to include it. I wonder how many care home staff you know personally? I know some and it 's an unappreciated job, hard work and very poorly paid.
  10. Best post on this thread. It's the usual suspects trying to cancel an opponent and not succeeding as they have used the same pathetic accusations too often. Best to ignore their bleating.
  11. I agree, as that way the US doesn't get to veto everything that doesn't go its way.
  12. That language is similar to that heard in a certain European country in the 1930s, and it didn't work out very well for them either.
  13. I guess there are some things on which we see the same way.
  14. Must be hard not being able to comprehend what is written. I never said they could destroy the IDF, only that by the definition they have the right to try. Anti semite, LOL. That pathetic attempt to cancel me doesn't work any more, and you can't quote a single post from me saying I don't like Jews. You appear to find satisfaction in the obliteration of an entire community, which I find very sad.
  15. Every time I see something like this I thank the deity I never had any sprogs children.
  16. In general I try not to take rants seriously, which is why I didn't bother responding to that. JD Vance showed himself to have no shame, even as he gave a thoroughly shameful debate performance. Seriously?
  17. Exactly. I guess if politicians can deflect to blame humans for it they can get away with doing nothing to mitigate the effects, except for building expensive windmills and telling everyone to make Elon richer by buying his overpriced cars.
  18. Staff in care homes are badly paid and there are not enough of them to be spending time with any single patient. Of course you could volunteer to go and do makeup for any trans residents. Secondly, it's likely that the staff don't agree with the transgender fad and while they will do what they have to, they will not want to do any more than they have to. I was lucky that such was never a problem for me, such never happened when I was in that job, and even I had to do time in the geriatric ward while in training to know that. All this trans stuff is quite recent and those that are that way tend to keep a low profile.
  19. By that definition Palestinians have a right to protect themselves, even destroying IDF.
  20. You may not be aware of it, but on an open forum like this you don't get to have an exclusive conversation, and anyone can respond to any post. If you don't want me joining in use the PM function. Despite the deflection, Melania is still not in the topic.
  21. That's BS. Obviously taken before the crowd arrived. For the reality see https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/10/03/donald-trump-rally-saginaw-valley-state-university/75493509007/ Trump’s event was held in a lower-level auditorium at the university’s Ryder Center, which has an indoor track and bleacher seating. The Trump campaign only reserved about half the room. University officials said it could seat a little over 4,000 people with Thursday’s setup. The seating area was mostly full when Trump began speaking, with some empty seats at the top of the bleachers and at the ends farthest away from him.
  22. I guess she won't be welcome home for Christmas.
  23. Less taxes? How will politicians get rich as a public servant if not enough tax? How will they bribe the gullible if not enough tax? Poverty is a mental thing so it will always be with us eg, the people that IMO smoke and drink the most are the poor. Just giving them money will not save them from poverty. Public health care is a bottomless pit. They need to restrict what they do and do that better. Free schools will not make a difference as long as teachers are useless. All my teachers were useless. I doubt that has changed.
  24. They have the example of all that went before. If they can't work out what not to do they should not be in the job.
