  1. If you want to live in Japan you must be really rich. That is why I never got there. In the 70s I had the choice of skiing at St Anton or going on a tour of Asia including Japan. I picked the wrong option.
  2. You know the horde I'm referencing, and an occasional old white guy does not constitute a horde. I'd also be there legally.
  3. I don't live in the US. Anyway, are they feminine or just slim and pretty?
  4. Thai artists are great.
  5. I would agree with that, except it's becoming weak. The Romans were strong till they weren't and then the barbarians took over.
  6. Nelson is great, but his songs were usually more popular by other people, IMO.
  7. Cave is a genius only in your mind. I like Dylan songs, some more than others.
  8. Schoolgirls are the wrong path to travel, because they are girls and as such change their minds every five minutes. Commitment is an unknown quality. A more mature Japanese lady is superior, even if only as a friend with benefits; perhaps a career woman looking for a spot of fun on the side. Unlike in western countries, they apparently don't turn into land whales soon as they turn 18, and continue to be feminine. Win win.
  9. While I love LOS, if I had the money it'd be Japan every time. It's the world capital of Anime, which I love. It's still traditional in part. It's still civilised as it hasn't invited the alien hordes in. I'd like to live in a rural community where they are polite to one another, and have consideration for others, unlike the undisciplined thugs that blight western countries.
  10. Agreed. I always wanted to live out the rest of my in LOS, and die there. It was the biggest blow of my life when I couldn't. I only go on this forum to keep a connection with LOS alive.
  11. Lou Reed I think. His songs are weird Amy is <deleted> IMO, Cave is boring. We all love different stuff. I love everything from Acker Bilk to Chris De Burgh, Jazz, Blues, Country, but it has to be danceable to. If you can't dance to it it isn't music IMO.
  12. The dictionary that I quoted is a good source. I'm not saying one can't enjoy a sad song, or that a happy song can make us sad. I get sad whenever I hear a Carpenter's song as she died too young. I get sad when listening to the best song Dire Straits ever made- Romeo and Juliette- because it's a sad song, but I wouldn't say it's the best song ever made. I get sad a lot when listening to music that I enjoyed when a young man, but that's because it makes me realise how close to death I am. The best music lifts us to the heavens, and probably no pop song qualifies. Classical music is where to look. IMO the best songs are the less well known ones that most have never heard. The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush lifts me up like few do
  13. I repeat, the thread is about best songs. Best is not sad, or angry, or depressed. noun: best that which is the most excellent, outstanding, or desirable.
  14. That was not love, but an obsession. No one loves a BG that is still working, or at least wants to believe that she isn't working. Doesn't matter if a BG or not. Plenty of western wives having it off with the window washer while hubby works. They have very clean windows.
  15. Best is what makes one feel great, not sad, not angry, not healing- great, happy, top of the world, ecstatic, etc.
  16. What about the Jamaican lads that sleep with old western women? Just as much a hooker as any Thai BG.
  17. Back in the early days of my relationship with my wife to be, she wanted to do a threesome, and encouraged me to sleep with other women. Don't ask me to explain it. Perhaps because she wanted to play away as well. I discovered later that she had gone to Germany on a holiday with a customer while we were engaged.
  18. Hush. I think English is not his first language and you are out of order.
  19. If one wishes to compare Thai and Euro culture, I'll take Thai culture over Euro every time. As a generalisation, they seemed happier that Euros, and if they have a sense of superiority it's probably deserved. The worst thing that happened to Thais IMO, is that they seem to have sold out their culture and try to be just like Euros, which IMO is a giant leap backwards.
  20. Of course culture is a by product of environment. The Australian Aboriginal existed 50,000 years and never invented the wheel, but given the environment they lived in that is expected. Likewise the Native Americans never developed crossbows or rifles, despite living in a land replete with iron ore. Whatever the reason, I'm happy that I grew up as a white person in a white culture.
  21. It's called white guilt. Makes some white people lose their last remaining brain cell.
  22. This thread is about best songs. Anger and aggression are not good.
  23. How serious is Biden in his calls for restraint in the M E? One has to wonder as his actions do not support his words. Is this going to be Biden's very own war? Will the US taxpayer support yet another military adventure in the M E? https://www.military.com/daily-news/2024/09/23/us-sending-more-troops-middle-east-violence-rises-between-israel-and-hezbollah.html US Is Sending More Troops to the Middle East as Violence Rises Between Israel and Hezbollah
  24. Israel mobilises more reserve troops, so it looks like Biden will be tearing out what is left of his hair as netanyahu ignores him in his push to expand the Gaza conflict into a full blown war in the ME https://news.sky.com/story/tanks-gather-near-israeli-lebanon-border-as-defence-minister-hold-talks-over-expansion-of-idf-activity-13224353 The military said it was mobilising three more battalions of reserve soldiers to serve across the country. It had already sent two brigades to northern Israel to prepare for a possible ground invasion.
