  1. I don't know if it's enough to make her lose, but I really, really hope so.
  2. You might want to re post as it can't be quoted like that. Short of plague or nuclear war, IMO there is no other way for the population to reduce to an acceptable level than 1 child. The mantra that we need more people is political nonsense now, as robotics AI will make most workers redundant. It's been happening for ages, but getting worse as factories automate. Of course robots will be able to take care of old people- humans don't want to do it any more, and I certainly would never work in an old folks home- I had enough of that as a nurse and that was in an ordinary hospital.
  3. and they can be stopped. I bet none of them will be trying for Australia. There are other ways too, though I won't post them on here. I have no idea why the west excuses people in poor countries that have far too many children, and go out of their way to accommodate the excess at taxpayer expense. IMO being anti illegal immigrant is going to be a sure fire election strategy.
  4. Believe it or not, many of the perfectly acceptable hotels in Thailand do not add service charge. IMO it's something they add to posh hotels because they know the muggins tourists will prefer it to trying to work out how much to tip the staff.
  5. If there is an actual "general implicit practice to leave around 10% of the check in a restaurant in Thailand for the tip" it's because people like the OP have been giving tips, apparently regardless of the actual service ( somewhat like when IMO idiots give sin sod for their non virgin previously married beloved to be their wife ). It doesn't take much for all the restaurant etc workers to start looking at a tip as an essential part of remuneration, rather than as a sign of gratitude by the customer for a job well done. I never used to leave a tip unless the service was exceptional, or I was a regular and got on well with the staff. Next thing we know, taxi drivers will be demanding tips, hotel employees will be demanding tips etc etc. IMO, just don't, unless the service deserved something extra. It may not yet be too late to rescue Thailand from this odious practice.
  6. Must be a bunch of numpties in governments if they can't see that their immigration policies are not acceptable to the citizens of the country and when it all goes wrong try to use the full force of the law to keep implementing wrong policies. Hopefully the good citizens remember this when the elections come along. The way it's going is IMO guaranteed to get a hard right government elected.
  7. That support may well vanish like frost in the sun. The bounce she got was from replacing the guy with cognitive problems, and it's still a long way till November. IMO she is the reason people may change their minds as she is IMO basically unlikeable. Just imagine if you will the King of Saudi meeting her. If she starts cackling he might think Biden should have tried to win.
  8. On that I disagree, Only 1 child and only to parents able to support the child. IMO most of our problems stem from too many of us, and we need to get back to about 3 billion. The only way short of an unstoppable plague ( like the Black Death ) or nuclear war is reducing birth rate for a few generations. I believe that if we don't do it nature will do it for us and it won't be pretty. I agree with most of the rest of your post.
  9. Pity they didn't tell us how to stop it changing then. I'm constantly boggled by the mantra "the climate is changing" as that is stating the obvious. Whether it is changing faster than before is irrelevant, but the idea that we can stop it changing if only we all drive an EV or pay more taxes, or kill all the ruminants on the planet and eat bugs instead, is just nonsense, IMO.
  10. I hope that wasn't aimed at me, as I have said more times than I can remember that climate change exists. I also said that there is nothing we can do to change it into something else, so we seem to be on the same page there. I've always been of the opinion that Gaia, or nature, will rid us unwelcome humans that have been destroying the wonderful planet we were given to inhabit, and it seems to me that that is what is happening, climate change, new diseases, drought etc are going to do the job- it just takes time. The irony is that we are the authors of our own destruction with our overpopulation, destruction of rain forests, pollution of the oceans, annihilation of other species, and refusal to moderate our population growth or our destructive habits.
  11. Good on her, pick an old white man for the job, that'll show the GOP who's on top of the game. Not so good to attract the youth vote, or the black vote though. IMO that's Harris for you, just old Washington politics dressed in a younger skin.
  12. Plenty of money in Thailand, but as usual only in the hands of a few. Thailand has the infrastructure of a rich country though, which is why, I'm sure, that so many farangs choose to live there, rather than than a central African country. It'd be a drag having loadsacash in a cheap cost of living country if one couldn't find a decent hospital.
  13. Because the Thai government is more sensible than western governments. Who would want to enter a country that won't give you a free hotel and free food and medical if they can go to a place that will?
  14. Unless one believes in telportation, he either never boarded the plane or he disappeared between exiting the plane and border control. The airline obviously know if he was on the flight, as the crew have to know who is on the plane, and to say they won't release that info is inexcusable, IMO.
  15. Perhaps it's relevant to note that despite billions of $ of western military equipment, Ukraine is losing ground, not gaining it. How are those Leopards that were going to win the war doing? Haven't heard much about them for a while, and now it's all about how 10 planes are going to turn the tide, LOL.
  16. Your comment would be more relevant had Russia wanted to "roll over Ukraine" ie all of Ukraine. There is not and IMO never was a need to occupy all of Ukraine to achieve the objective.
  17. In who's opinion? IMO the calculation in Washington is continuing the fight to the last Ukrainian soldier vs MAD.
  18. Hopefully there is still someone with a functioning brain in the US government that is able to make Biden not go too far in his apparent desire to see the demise of Russia regardless of the cost to Ukraine.
  19. Diverting nearly a brigade to launch an assault on Kursk Oblast, which lacks strategic sense, borders on mental disability That reminds me of the scene in that movie about Hitler's last days in the bunker when he was ordering the deployment of units that no longer existed.
  20. Netanyahu and his cronies may have thought they were onto a good thing by assassinating the Hamas political leader, but they only made things harder for themselves. As seen on Al Jazeera this morning, the military commander of Hamas in Gaza is now the overall commander and he spent 22 years in an israeli jail, so he's not going to be more reasonable than the previous guy. BTW the israelis have been trying to get this guy for years, and have failed utterly to do so- they don't even know where he is now. So much for israeli intelligence. One thing is for sure, a ceasefire is going to be harder to achieve now, without amnesty for him and the rest of Hamas. So it's looking really bad for the survival of the hostages. They got rid of one leader, but this one is way more hardline. Things are not looking good for israel. 10 months into it and no evidence that Hamas is being defeated, the israeli economy has to be in dire straights, and they are being assailed ever more ferociously from the north. Not forgetting that they do not know how, where or when the Iranian response is going to come, and IMO it won't be just a few drones like the last time. Indeed, israel has sown the wind and the whirlwind is coming.
  21. LOL. How many tanks is Hamas using, how many warplanes are combating the israelis as they drop big bombs on defenseless women and children? Tell us about the air defense systems Hamas has at it's command? A real war has proportionality, and in Gaza there is none. The dead women and children outnumber dead israelis by many thousands of times. IMO its a one sided conflict. I don't know if I'll still be living to see it, but one day in the future, enough of the world will, IMO, be so appalled as what is being done in Gaza, that israel will come to regret what they do now.

  23. The British thought WW1 would be over "by Christmas". Were the British "paper tigers"? Try not posting slogans put out by propagandists.
  24. Since when did any of your side believe anything on RT? You are always laughing at anyone that uses it as a source. Next.
  25. Get back to us about that when Zelensky is sitting in Putin's chair.
