IMO, it's not necessary for the US to do anything for Taiwan other than giving them loads of surface to surface and surface to air missiles, If China can't get to Taiwan it can't invade. As for Iran, not for nothing is it thought that Armageddon will take place in the Middle East. I do not envy anyone that has to sort that morass.

We didn't have any of those. We had Sgt Major and Warrant officers first class or WO1 which were called Mr. That was as high as they went. We didn't have colour Sgts either, but we did have Staff Sergeants between Sgt and Sgt Majors.

If you want to get personal I was as high as I wanted to be in the military. I was qualified to be a senior NCO, but retired early and went on to do more worthwhile things with my life than bossing troopies around and getting pissed in the Sgt's mess.

I remember the guys being sent to Iraq version 1 running around camp sweating in gas suits ( in training for the gas attacks that never happened ) I was quite happy not to be going over. However, I was never going to be sent anyway, as only a few went and not from my unit.

I agree. The only animals I shot were for very good reasons, because they were feral pests ( rabbits ) or food. I despise people that pay large to kill such as elephants for fun.

No one on here has ever suggested a non qualified person doing surgery. Sometimes it's a nonsense to suggest that so many trades need a degree. Eg nursing. Ordinary nurses do not need a degree, nurse practitioners do. The fact that all nurses in western countries apparently have to have a degree is IMO a farce. I won't go into the political reasons why it is so, but it's not because they are incapable of being a nurse without one.

IMO the best policy for Iran is to hold off on any retaliation. Israel has to prepare for any eventuality, which causes disruption, fear, and financial penalties. They are in the perfect situation to cause as much disruption to israeli society as possible, and without actually retaliating, they give the warmongers no excuse to widen the conflict into a war. They should instead, IMO, support Hezbollah to ramp up assaults on northern israel, and prepare to destroy any land based invasion from israel. That's what I would do if I were an Arab being persecuted by israelis.

I have no idea what your first sentence means. To be clear, I do not "support" Russia, but recognising reality says they will not be defeated. To support a losing side is just a waste of western money that should be spent on the taxpayers that provided it, not on military adventures that IMO had no chance of success in the long run. You seem to believe that anyone accepting reality must ergo be a Russian supporter, which is a nonsense, and to say that I am is a lie. Obviously you have not found any quote from me saying I support Putin, so I suggest you stop lying.

Congratulations. You are a sensible person, to have seen through the charade of modern politics. Unfortunately, most of us have little to no alternative. IMO the support for Trump is the last desperate cry for help by millions before the Washington machine takes over completely. Like a drowning man that clutches at a straw, the masses hope that Trump can hold back the tide, but alas, I think it's too late and we are already doomed, but just can't see it yet. Somewhat like the citizens of Rome just before the barbarian mercenaries took it over.

Indeed, as are degrees. Strangely, when I was a kid not many people had a degree, other than engineers and Drs and lawyers, yet the society they created was IMO a hundred times better that the degree infested society that can't even live in peace today.
