No argument on that from me. Hence my oft repeated comment that western civilisation is not far off having the barbarian mercenaries walk through the gates to take "Rome" for their own. The Romans used bread and circuses to keep the mob in check- does that seem familiar with the election campaign? It's certainly a circus. It's probably deflection. If the masses were to think about their circumstances too much, likely they'd be marching on Washington with pitchforks and tumbrils.

Is she using a teleprompter? Any competent actor can do a good job looking confident if they only have to read a script. Even Biden managed to fool a lot of people.

Seriously, is that the best you can do?

You just wrote a long post telling us nothing we don't already know about Trump. Even more, it's not going to change anyone's mind about Trump.

Harris needs sheeple like you. Simpletons who repeat the same lies over and over.

I don't think there should be any laws on abortion. Available on demand for no reason at all till end of first trimester. After that if a danger to mother. At most it should be between the woman and her Dr. I didn't realise that Harris didn't do news conferences. If the GOP has any sense, they will pound her about that. I saw her on Al Jazeera this morning. She seems very angry, not an iota of humour and a hard unsmiling face. Just ranting about Republicans.

Is he Trump in disguise? If not he's talking like a kindy kid. -

There you go again with the insults. I never heard that sort of language since I left primary school, till I came on this forum. -

Haley, IMO is as unlikable as Harris. -

Why do you have to include insults in posts about Trump? It's like being in kindergarten. -

All those posters that claimed he was too afraid to debate will now have to eat crow. -
At your age: Do you still take life seriously?

Thailand was always paradise for me. I loved almost everything about it. Enjoy every day there, as you don't know what the future holds. I always thought I'd die there, but I was not so fortunate. Consider yourself fortunate among men that you still live there. -

I think you missed my point. I'm perfectly happy doing what I am doing inside as it stops me thinking about my life. If I sat on the beach looking at seagulls it wouldn't be long before I'd start thinking about how my life sucks. Movies on DVD and this forum are excellent for taking my mind off my circumstances. -

Two responses. God is not human and has no human emotions. Nature is composed of millions of species that do nothing but kill to survive ( you may need a microscope to see many of them, or look in the dirt ), and IMO God cares no more for humans than bacteria. All life came from God and returns to God. How long we live is irrelevant to a being that exists forever. Nature destroys entire solar systems in black holes, with all the life that is on the planets. Some cultures accept suicide and their God is the same as our God. However I definitely pass on seppuku as an exit method. -

IMO he's a perfectly respectable singer. Check out Lay Lady Lay, or Fire on the Mountain. Can't say I ever had a problem with understanding what he sang about, but that could be because of my opinion on life. He does come from the darker side, as do I. -

That could very well be true, but my reason for living could be as simple as learning that life is a bad joke. If so, I succeeded in my purpose and sooner I depart the better. Unfortunately the government won't allow me to do so in a painless and effective way. -

Hobbies are not a problem. This forum is a hobby. I have more to do than I have time to do, and I should stop being on here and do them, but as close to death as I am it's all rather pointless. Everything I do now will just end up in landfill. I used to be an outdoors person, so being inside is quite boring and I need to fill my life with activity- this forum is excellent as a time filler. I can't do much outside anymore, as the body isn't able to do it any more. Eg, I tripped the other day and destroyed my shoulder, which means I can never do heavy lifting ever again. Apparently quite common in people my age. -

I never mentioned women, past or present. Women do not figure in my life at all now, thankfully. My post was nothing to do with women per se. Life in general sucks except for the fortunate. I was one such, till I wasn't. -

Pretty obvious what it means to me. The revolution was coming. That it didn't was not his fault- the youth gave up wanting society to change for the better and became more sheeple. He's asking the senators to stop being reactionaries and get with building a better society- it wasn't his fault that they didn't. Some of them are still there holding society back and supporting wars. -
My experience is different. Every hospital I worked in had incompetent managers. In my last hospital they succeeded in almost having a strike by demoting most of the senior nurses to save money. In the same hospital the manager stole half the waiting room to have a larger office. I assume you are referring to the NHS, in which I worked for 10 years. The NHS IMO would benefit from sacking 75 % of managers. Managers comprise 2/3% of the workforce (39,000) compared to around 5% in many top companies That only means there are too many managers in companies. the general public is clueless about what it takes to manage such a vast organisation and keep it as the best health care service, free at delivery, in the world. It's not the best health care service it could be. It's largely badly run, by incompetents that spent much of Gordon Brown's 6 billion quid on fancier building and more managers, while the service was going through a nursing crisis because it couldn't hire enough workers. When I had my major surgery the ward was filthy, and the nurses were disorganised. My entire week in hospital was experiencing one disaster after another. If the managers are so competent, why are they unable to get British people to become nurses, and have to poach them from Africa and elsewhere overseas?

As I am wont to say recently, large ships are just slow moving targets against modern missiles and drones. Thailand may find themselves in the US good books again, if the US wishes to station air assets near to China. That'd be a nice earner for LOS, if they ignore the reaction from China. The bar girls will be happy if it happens.

Speaking as someone actually living there, "tranquil" is not the description I'd use. It's a political mess. As for the implicit protection of a benign ally, the support certainly shouldn't be taken for granted. Given NZ doesn't even attempt to have a viable defense force, IMO, and we told the US to keep their ships out of NZ ports, the US may decide that NZ isn't worth defending. If NZ doesn't want to pay more for a proper defense force, why would the US do it for us? Trump may have an opinion on nations that don't pay their fair share.
