How many hours from Phuket to Bangkok by train?
thaibeachlovers replied to Conan The Barbarian's topic in General Topics
Just take a train that starts early or arrives early as good view for a few hours. I took sleeper as saved a hotel cost, also that day time train was not very good to be polite. -

I loved traveling by Thai railways long distance. Second class AC was the cheese. Lower bunk of course. The restaurant car was an experience though, so I usually took my own food. Using the toilet was also interesting as I could see directly down onto the track sleepers. If I was lucky it was a sit down job, otherwise the squat version. -
I worked in a London Hospital for 10 years. English people were a minority. At the start Oz nurses on OE were the main ethnicity, but as they were agency they cost too much so the Government banned them from the NHS and imported African nurses instead, along with loads of Filipinos, mostly female but plenty guys as well.

Labour to Permit 100,000 Migrants to Apply for Asylum

You are welcome. I was almost middle aged at the time of the Falklands, and the first thing I did when I woke up was turn on the news. Apparently all the admirals and generals told Thatcher it was not a good idea ( to be polite ) but she wasn't called "the iron lady" for nothing, and she had an election to win. In the event, the Harriers won it, but it was a close thing and she was just lucky it didn't end in catastrophe. Those Paras were hard men back then too- respect for them was immense. I bet they didn't have to pay for a drink down pub for a long time. -
Perhaps we can wait for the report on the shooting that will detail how many bullets were fired, from where, and if Trump was actually hit. BTW It's possible he wasn't actually struck by the bullet. It could just have passed close enough for the shock wave to cause an injury. i suspect the large bandage on his ear is more for theatre than the actual wound. IMO had it actually hit, there would be parts of his ear on his face and not just a couple of streaks of blood. Of course I could be wrong on that.

If you think I'm accusing you of being woke I apologise but I wasn't. If you mention Royal Navy then I can comment on it and the LOL was about the navy not you. A navy that spends all the money on 2 huge targets in an age of hypersonic missiles is IMO incompetent. 2 huge targets that don't even work when brand new doesn't improve the situation. It was pretty well reported at the time, though U Tube did not exist to record it, in fact there was no such thing as the "internet". I will be sure to LOL in their faces next time I see the admirals down the pub. -
It's not logical for Trump to stage such a thing, even if it was possible. He's likely to win any way, and his opponent, who is determined to stay in the race apparently has cottage cheese where his brain used to be. a 20 year old kid who was thrown out of his rifle class for being such a bad aim to shoot him in the ear with a rifle from 150 yards. The only way anyone could deliberately hit an ear from that distance with an AR 15 would be by blind luck. Trump was more likely to be killed than wounded, and it's probably just blind luck that he wasn't. An actual sniper with a proper rifle might have done it providing they had about 1,000 hours of practice, there wasn't any wind at all, and and Trump stayed perfectly still.

The guy had a zillion cameras on him, and you think he was able to put his hand in his pocket, pull out a tube of fake blood, apply the blood, put the tube back in his pocket all without anyone noticing? In conspiracy land of course, all the secret service guys were in on it and perhaps one of them put the fake blood on his ear and face, while they were surrounding him. Gimme strength! In any event, they will be able to track the path of every bullet, and if none went close to Trump then we can start thinking set up. Unless, of course, the investigators are in on it as well. If that's the case, we are all in trouble. Talk about jumping the gun!

Labour to Permit 100,000 Migrants to Apply for Asylum

I've known a few people like that too. If given the right incentive they usually can do it after all. I can understand the navy not wanting to do it- the publicity would be horrendeous, but it's their job to do what the government tells them to do, not to tell the government that they won't do it. If the admirals can't stop a rubber boat they should be sacked. -

The Navy didn't want to rescue the Falklands either but Thatcher gave them a kick up the bum and they went and did the job. Of course it may be that the Navy now dictates to the government what it does or does not want to do, or Sunak just accepted it so he could say it was the Navy's fault he couldn't stop the boats. In any event, if the Navy can't stop a rubber boat crossing the sea border, how's it going to handle a navy that can shoot back? Sounds like a right mess to me, but then, IMO, Britain's a mess. -

Shock horror!!!!! You mean to tell me that the Labour party had no plan at all as to what they would do with illegals if they became the government and only started working on it AFTER they got elected? Do tell us if that is the case. I'm not even a politician and I had a plan of what to do with illegals years and years ago. If they don't know what to do, they could always ring up the Oz government and ask to borrow someone that runs their very successful operation to stop the boats. -

low-level and meaningless terms like 'woke' Of course it's not meaningless, unless one wants to to pretend it is. It's a great word to sum up a certain political demographic in one word, and most understand which demographic that is and what it means. The "Royal Navy", LOL. The "Royal Navy" apparently told Thatcher that her plan to take back the Falklands would not work, and how did that work out? Perhaps what they meant was that the navy that once kept Pax Britannica around the planet is no longer capable of stopping a rubber boat from crossing the sea border. Perhaps that is because none of the ships work any more, or they don't have enough sailors to man one. -
Which would explain why he wasn't wearing a bandage on his ear while driving a golf cart in 2022. The article say the shooter was using an AR 15. FYI snipers don't use an AR 15- they don't use M16's either. Why? Because they are not accurate enough. Only a stupid kid might try to use an AR 15 at any distance to shoot someone. It's no wonder he missed.

His handlers probably realise that HRC calling millions of US citizens "deplorable" was not a good idea and will have made sure it wasn't in any speeches they wrote for him. He does say everything on the teleprompter, after all.

We all know what Trump is having had every defect pointed out ad nauseam for 9 years. Even so, he is still likely to win again. Perhaps people see that while Trump is vilified by the MSM, the same MSM covers for Biden. How else do you think an IMO doolally like Biden was able to come across as in charge of anything let alone himself, in at least the past year? Perhaps you have a better explanation as to why Trump is popular with millions?
