There is a lot ( and I'm talking about trillions ) of money to be made from the climate change thing, so follow the money. If it was alarming as some make out ( the world will end in 5 years etc ), I'm certain an ex US president wouldn't have bought beach front property in Hawaii.

Soooo, lets go back to living like humans did before the industrial revolution and we'll all live happily ever after! Seriously, if we actually did stop using fossil fuels ( IMO never going to happen till they run out ) expect every single thing made of oil based plastic to dramatically increase in price. Unintended consequences and all that.

I agree that we are raping the planet and will pay the price for that, but if anyone believes that it's all just going to go back to some illusory past golden age because we give some money to poor countries and all drive electric cars I have a bridge for sale. To make any change at all would require major life changes- for a start let's ban all leisure flights- no more cheap holidays in the sun, no more mass tourism in Thailand ( unless by rail ) etc, ban private aircraft, and of course ban all climate conferences unless on VDO conferencing.

Seems it's all part of the apparent UN desire to "redistribute the wealth" from rich to poor countries. Are they saying that those countries don't have any money, or are they just willfully ignoring that certain individuals in those countries might have most of the money? IMO poor countries can do a lot to help themselves, if they had decent governments that invested in infrastructure, but it's easier to just hold out their hands for other people's money.

My response to that is to ask why you think a force that can create a universe with black holes that destroy entire solar systems has to conform to human conditions such as ethics and of "fixing things"? Have you not considered that the universe and our planet/ species are working exactly as designed? Far as humans are concerned, seems to me that a fail safe was built into all species that if they exceeded their place in the order of things they destroy themselves or are destroyed, and humans, IMO, are working as fast as possible to exterminate our species.

The question is simple. Do you believe that something can come from nothing ( atheism ) or do you believe it was created by an unknowable ( to primitive humans ) force ( belief in a creator )? Up to you. I'm not here to try and convince posters of anything, but I am here to learn, which requires an open mind. Seems some are of such fixed positions they are unable to accept there is more to life than what we can see with our biological senses, or what our primitive science can prove. BTW, IMO 4 billion years is nothing in cosmic terms, and if humans are the best it can come up with so far, hopefully there is time before the sun's fuel runs out to do better.

Never were more true words written. I made al most every mistake it was possible to make while in Thailand, but I never heeded my wife's desire for me to build her a house next door to her mother. Actually I never built her a house anywhere, which turned out to be a very wise decision.

Which is why I used an agent. The rules should be the same which ever office one goes to and the situation where they can make up stupid regulations is despicable. If God doesn't exist, then cancer in children is just the way it is, with nothing to blame it on. Can you explain how the universe began if it wasn't created? Did that big cloud of gas floating around in empty space just magically appear out of nothing? Do you think that something can come out of nothing?

Where do you get that from- that's religion? IMO God created the material that became the universe and created the physical laws that allowed that material to become stars and planets etc. So disease is as a result of creation happening, not because God wants children to die horribly. Actually, why would God care about children dying? Isn't a force that can create the universe above and beyond such, when God also created black holes that can swallow entire solar systems with all the life in them. Might as well ask why God created humans that killed whales barbarically.

God didn't specifically design cancer in children. Nature isn't perfect, and people are not born perfect. Disease is part of nature. You might as well ask why species kill other species for food- isn't it a tragedy that lovely lambs are killed so we can eat yummy food? My question to you is that if you don't believe in God, why do you think cancer in children is bad? Isn't it just part of life? Do you think God is human, and decided that it would be a good idea to give cancer to children?

I know what you are talking about, and I made a point of never going shopping with a female. I also gave up taking women out for dinner when one wanted a more up market ( expensive ) place than the one I chose, but still expected me to pay for both of us. To add insult to injury she didn't invite me in for coffee after.

One can think of nature at it's most microscopic and realise that it was created or one can be of the opinion that it is all just an accident. I believe it was created, but do you think it is all just an accident, and if so we are just an accidental species, of no more importance than an ant or a cockroach?
