  1. IMO that's BS. Prove it or it's not true. I haven't seen a pimp in Thailand since 1973 and I'd be interested to know where a "brothel" is in Pattaya. It's not Singapore!
  2. Perhaps they looked at the reaction to the threat and decided not to go ahead with it. Just imagine if they had arrested him but didn't manage to get a conviction- they be a complete laughing stock. If anyone wants to put someone like Trump on the stand, better have an iron clad case that couldn't fail. Just trying to find an unbiased jury would be problematic.
  3. Hmmmmm. Isn't bringing 3 past wars into it the definition of whataboutery? Fact- he didn't start any wars on HIS watch. Always a good thing for those that would have died.
  4. IMO a million % correct. Anyone looking a Hillary and knowing her past would have had doubts about her, and IMO enough did to elect Trump. I've always said that if it had been Bernie, he'd have won by a landslide.
  5. A few million of us. Better than any game show. CNN probably, given how poorly they did after he lost, apparently.
  6. Perhaps you are correct, but he didn't start any wars, told Euro NATO members to pay their share, tried to secure the southern border and cancelled that IMO diabolical Pacific treaty thing, so a win for the soldiers and collateral damage that would have died, and for us in the south Pacific. I'll take that over Biden any day.
  7. Hopefully that is true with better treatments available than I had. Nothing about my life is "normal" since my op. I only went for the op because I couldn't pee properly anymore. Now I pee too easily, if you know what I mean.
  8. If I'm anything to go by, when you get to 77 you'll want to die. I really hate being old, and forgetful. The idea of being imprisoned living in one of those ghastly "rest homes" and being parked in front of daytime tv because they don't have enough staff to care for the patients properly fills me with horror.
  9. I had cancer in London. I was never offered the advice to join a support group by any health person involved in my case, either before or after the op, nor did any organisation that purports to assist cancer sufferers offer me any assistance. Basically, other than the actual medical treatment I was on my own. Was I worse off for not joining a group- I don't know. If it's that bad in London, I can't imagine it being much better elsewhere.
  10. I'm pretty sure that masturbation goes back to the pre marriage level after about a year of marriage when she decides not to have sex anymore, or only on special occasions.
  11. Gotta get rid of that nuclear waste somehow I guess. Does anyone think that Russia doesn't have their own stockpile of depleted uranium ammunition that they won't use now?
  12. Hopefully some posters will now divert their opprobrium from western countries that permit homosexuality ( and even protect it in law ) to those countries that are violently opposed to it.
  13. In real terms the sea rise has been so slight that I haven't noticed any rise on the coast near where I live in over 60 years. Perhaps some more informed posters can prove that sea level has risen more significantly in other countries, but I doubt it. It's even been claimed that floods in Bangkok are due to rising sea levels, but I'm pretty sure that is due to extracting too much water from under the city, ergo the city is sinking, not that the sea is rising.
  14. There is a lot ( and I'm talking about trillions ) of money to be made from the climate change thing, so follow the money. If it was alarming as some make out ( the world will end in 5 years etc ), I'm certain an ex US president wouldn't have bought beach front property in Hawaii.
  15. Soooo, lets go back to living like humans did before the industrial revolution and we'll all live happily ever after! Seriously, if we actually did stop using fossil fuels ( IMO never going to happen till they run out ) expect every single thing made of oil based plastic to dramatically increase in price. Unintended consequences and all that.
  16. I agree that we are raping the planet and will pay the price for that, but if anyone believes that it's all just going to go back to some illusory past golden age because we give some money to poor countries and all drive electric cars I have a bridge for sale. To make any change at all would require major life changes- for a start let's ban all leisure flights- no more cheap holidays in the sun, no more mass tourism in Thailand ( unless by rail ) etc, ban private aircraft, and of course ban all climate conferences unless on VDO conferencing.
  17. From the linked article " “It’s not just about the quantity of money. It’s also about how and where it is allocated. Vulnerable areas just don’t have enough money to fund the urgent need to adapt to climate change.” United Nations Environment Programme’s executive director Inger Andersen stressed that climate change is throwing its “hardest punches” at the most vulnerable communities who bear the least responsibility for climate change, with Cyclone Freddy devastating communities in Malawi, Mozambique and Madagascar." Seems it's all part of the apparent UN desire to "redistribute the wealth" from rich to poor countries. Are they saying that those countries don't have any money, or are they just willfully ignoring that certain individuals in those countries might have most of the money? IMO poor countries can do a lot to help themselves, if they had decent governments that invested in infrastructure, but it's easier to just hold out their hands for other people's money.
  18. Bit like with Trump then. Years of investigations and not a single personal conviction in a court of law.
  19. My response to that is to ask why you think a force that can create a universe with black holes that destroy entire solar systems has to conform to human conditions such as ethics and of "fixing things"? Have you not considered that the universe and our planet/ species are working exactly as designed? Far as humans are concerned, seems to me that a fail safe was built into all species that if they exceeded their place in the order of things they destroy themselves or are destroyed, and humans, IMO, are working as fast as possible to exterminate our species.
  20. The question is simple. Do you believe that something can come from nothing ( atheism ) or do you believe it was created by an unknowable ( to primitive humans ) force ( belief in a creator )? Up to you. I'm not here to try and convince posters of anything, but I am here to learn, which requires an open mind. Seems some are of such fixed positions they are unable to accept there is more to life than what we can see with our biological senses, or what our primitive science can prove. BTW, IMO 4 billion years is nothing in cosmic terms, and if humans are the best it can come up with so far, hopefully there is time before the sun's fuel runs out to do better.
