1 million % correct. Why do we need to know that a bus load of people in a far away country died in an accident, or that a plane crashed with loss of life on other side of the world? IMO it's like they want to make everyone depressed and angry. Seems to be working too.

I think a lot of our own attitude comes from the people that surround us. If we have good parents we likely become good people and visa versa; if we go to a good school, we likely get educated and visa versa; if we work with good people we likely become good workers and visa versa; and if we are surrounded by bad people we likely either become bad ourselves, or we become intimidated, fearful and negative.

Even then you will only know them as they are now. I'm a completely different person now than I was 50 years ago. No one gets as cynical as I in a few years- I've been working on it all my life.

It's entirely possible to believe that God exists without conforming to a religion. Religions are man made constructs, while God is not.

I find your post ignorant of the fact that Thai is not an easy language to learn, and almost impossible for those that can't discern tones. It's also completely unnecessary for a farang living in Pattaya, Bkk or Chiang Mai.

You speak the truth, but some, it seems, are magically able to speak Thai conversationally after a couple of months in LOS. I came to Thailand too late to discern tones, so my Thai language skills were somewhat restricted.

I lived in the village for a while and didn't see any. Obviously that may not be true for every village, but their choice involves a lot of expense that would be unlikely able to afford as a rural worker. Of course, those that become elderly may return to their village home.

Unfortunately where the US goes the rest of the ( western ) world follows. We have probably all encountered the non US guys that try to emulate American gang bangers in their dress and choices of music noise, and such like silliness. I have had enough of the woke American policies being inflicted on the non American society I live in. It's even been polluting Thai society for a while.

I rarely agree with you, but on this I do. At the moment, IMO, he is the most likely reason the Dems will keep the presidency next year. I can only hope that he either doesn't get the financing needed or fails in the primaries.

Sorry, but I don't get what you are trying to say there. I doubt many in government even understand what AI really is let alone have the guts to do something about it. It is coming and it will IMO be used by the 1 % to get even richer while everyone else ends up on the farcical "living wage". AI/ robotics will be able to do almost anything any human can do, and if we leave it to late to regulate it, it really will be too late for most. We don't even have widespread AI yet, and many jobs are already being lost to the machines.

Once again, for short term economic gain, the west shot itself in the foot in the long term.

Seemed to me the only thing the EU did was to take as many as arrived on EU shores. That's not any sort of "control". IMO special forces should be used to eliminate the traffickers. Do that and a lot of economic migrants will not be able to get to Europe as IMO they are the ones able to pay.

Years ago would have had to have been the EU as Britain was still in it so unable to do so, and the EU leaders seem quite keen on letting them in. After that there was a little plague that sort of took over everything.

IMO it's become a symbol, so needs to be held or won. By making it so important, it will be a massive blow to Ukrainian morale if lost, and if Russia wins it will be a huge boost to Russian troops.

LOL. I once visited Sri Lanka and was staying at an hotel with a massage service. Thought I might get a cute masseuse, but was disappointed when a blind man came to do the massage.

I tried to find out why massage is popular ( not the happy ending sort ) so I tried a lot, including wat Po massage school, but I never discovered the answer. Some were bad and caused a lot of pain, some were not, but I never felt any better after for it. In the end I just saved my money and wrote it off to one of those things in life that I don't get.

I don't know where you hang out in LOS, but while the Thais are as racist as any society I've ever lived in, they are not as bad as you make out, IMO. Perhaps you live in a big city to get such a negative idea- rural Thais are nothing like that in my experience.

Given that the husband would be paying, it's likely he is rich, which means that his "wife" would probably be attractive. When I was training as a nurse I had to work in maternity, and truthfully, I was amazed that some of the women had actually managed to get some guy to do it to get them pregnant.
