  1. Seems someone has been watching Hollywood movies.
  2. They were probably running too fast to be able to hit them with a shotgun.
  3. Happily that doesn't seem to be the case in LOS. They are a threat as long as alive as if they escaped they'd do it again.
  4. LOL. The softly softly be nice to evil people approach to criminals isn't working. I'm all for saving the taxpayers the cost of a trial and subsequent time in jail. Crime wasn't a problem in Saudi when I was there, but they amputate thieves hands. Terminating evil doers tends to prevent them doing it again, so I'm all for it. Sick of bad people being released from jail only to murder the innocent.
  5. Which is part of the reason the west is going to follow the Romans into history. Any country that penalises citizens for standing up to crims is IMO heading for extinction.
  6. In a country I know well the crims are not afraid of the cops, and the young ( 13 and under ) crims are not even arrested. Insanity.
  7. Which goes to show how barking the law is in western countries. Pity he didn't get them all.
  8. No idea if still there as don't remember name, but there was a place not far from Dolphin roundabout on the right hand side going towards Naklua. I used him and no complaints. Big sign outside.
  9. Why pick on them? Rich people are always immune to the tribulations of the masses. You think Musk is cutting back on his food bill?
  10. Could this be Biden's "tapes" moment? Nixon's goose was cooked when the "tapes" existence became public knowledge. One can only hope.
  11. WOW. That's some deflection, LOL. Ignore the corruption and make it about nudity.
  12. There is abundant energy ( the sun is certainly abundant ) but IMO greed means we are still beholden to OPEC and other oil companies. Hydrogen is a proven technology that could supply all our needs, but greed is driving us to batteries, which need rare and expensive raw materials. The other problem is that the world's population is increasing faster than our ability to build the technology to get off oil.
  13. Circular argument. By all means mention it till the cows come home, but it's not going to make an iota of difference to anything unless one can go back in time. We all got that some posters blame Brexit for the UK's woes many pages ago, so no need to beat the proverbial dead horse any more.
  14. Not her minor soap career. The Oprah show etc. I'm not trolling any more than yourself. Having a different opinion than you does not make what I say trolling, but carry on trying to cancel me, by all means.
  15. You don't like the truth? Farangs have been moaning about immigration for as long as I've been on this forum ( and on TVF ), and it's not going to change, IMO. While I hated having to go to immigration, I accepted that they make the rules and I had to abide by them.
  16. I do wish that farangs would realise that Thai officialdom doesn't care much about what farangs think or want. Seems some think that because they contribute a few thousand baht to the economy they deserve special treatment. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. I very much doubt that the most important thing on a Thai official's mind is how to make life easier for a few thousand long stay farangs.
  17. In all my years in LOS I never considered that immigration were concerned about what tourists want to see. I doubt they give a monkey's about what tourists want. Luckily my interactions with immigration were minimal.
  18. No I'm not American. Never even been there. My pension is from the taxpayer, and the rule applicable to me says I can't get pension outside my country if I stay away longer than 26 weeks. That worked for me as long as I was married, but costs too much if I have to pay for hotel. Being old, travel insurance costs too much to be affordable, when taking into account cost of flights and all the other expenses, and I'd never travel without it. Actually I could afford it if I didn't have to pay to stay here for the rest of the year- but obviously that's a non starter.
  19. So, despite the cops not ( apparently ) arresting you, you decided to leave LOS, in part because of one incident. I could understand if it was a regular occurrence, but I doubt that. I knew a Brit that left because he owned a restaurant and he was constantly extorted for "fees" by the cops, but those that don't own a business probably don't get hassled for such. I certainly never was. Every farang in LOS should know the rules, and by continuing to live in LOS accept those rules, willingly or not. If tourists consider carrying a passport an unacceptable inconvenience they will just go elsewhere. Up to them.
  20. 555555555555555555555 Sounds like a personal problem to me. BTW grammar police posts tend to be deleted, and quite rightly so.
  21. LOL. I took my own advice and stayed out of Thai real estate. Never bought any - or should I say I never gave any money to a Thai to buy real estate in their name. I had no problem ignoring my wife's hints that I should build a house for her.
  22. It would be relevant if he's not allowed to work on it.
  23. Yes we are gullible. 100,000 they got off easy IMO. I lost more than that to the "marry a Thai woman" scam.
  24. My last Sgt Major boss was bullying me, but rather than do something about that they posted me to a different base. He was a big part of why I resigned- that and the other lesser bullies.
  25. Brexit is done and dusted. Highly unlikely to rejoin, so accept it and move on. Moaning about it isn't going to help anything.
