  1. LOL. Tell that to those that say they are CERTAIN that global climate change was caused by us and we have to buy electric cars to save the planet. I never hear them say that it's an opinion.
  2. As in the post above, just say NO. If you give in you'll regret it, IMO. I wouldn't want to live there even having done so for 10 years. You could try saying that she would have to pay at least half of all the bills and explain how little money she'll have after bills and tax. I was going to take my wife to my western country till she said she would not pay anything for rent or bills. I'd have to pay all and everything she earned was hers. Needless to say that was the end of that idea.
  3. There is one spot on a beach on Lanta that has large ( and dangerous ) waves. I wouldn't remember exactly where now though, as it was long ago )The only decent waves I've ever seen in LOS, though Than Sadet had peaceful wave sounds I liked to go to sleep with.
  4. Still cheaper when one walks away from a love gone bad. Plus one can move when a rock grinding plant or all night karaoke opens next door.
  5. If the US just sends missiles, there would be no troops to "pullout". It would also mean that the bad guys couldn't reach Taiwan.
  6. Surely that could only be achieved by abolishing individual countries or becoming something like the USA with direct voting for the "federal" politicians, which does not happen in the EU? As much chance of that as me flying to the moon tomorrow, IMO.
  7. In a democracy one is allowed to be "wrong" ( in the opinion of those that think THEY are right ). If only everyone thought the same as those that know that only they have the right opinion, what a wonderful world it would be.
  8. He tried, but couldn't get funding for it till he apparently diverted funds to the wall he did build. I'm surprised you don't remember all that. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/judge-rules-trump-violated-law-wall-funding-national-emergency-n1065216
  9. Sauce is an essential part of British food.
  10. Always a bad experience then? You can't have found a decent one, but they are out there.
  11. IMO they can wait forever. Renting is the way to go. Then, when it all goes wrong one can walk away.
  12. Half the fun of travel is experiencing things for oneself, not as some other person did. I'd never watch a VDO of a place I'd never been, though I'd read up about it- back then it was in a Lonely Planet book.
  13. I stayed in one of those floating rooms, but never again as the unmuffled long tails going past were too annoying.
  14. Yes, that's the way to go. If I'd researched all the trips I made I might have not done them to my loss. I did one trip through the jungle that took about 4 hours in 1st and 2nd gear, but worth it. Before starting on the jungle road we asked locals for directions and they told us not to do it as too difficult!
  15. I lived there for a couple years. No beach but better than Chiang Mai to live in. C M is only a short trip away. If anyone has an interest, the temple that was in one of the Rambo movies is not far from Lamphun, and a pleasant day out. It's above the Temple of the Footprint, and has a road to drive up ( the stair climb is very, very long ). Fantastic view. If I was going to be a monk I'd choose that place. Plenty of great scenic adventures in that area like the MHS loop, and Cave Lodge ( lots of caves worth visiting. You'd have to try hard to be bored living there.
  16. GF is as bad as a wife. Let them stay a week and they think they are entitled. Why would I care about Buffet? If he has $100 bn he hasn't spent IMO he must be a misery guts. No one person needs that much money. No wonder people dislike the rich.
  17. I didn't like the style of writing, but IMO and in my experience, he was pretty close to the mark about Thai BGs. Beautiful, lusty and hearts of stone.
  18. Fair enough, but having multiple bonks a day when they presumably just lie there is hardly the same as what a Thai BG does ( in my experience ). Actually, never having been to Holland ever, I'm not qualified to comment on those women, so apologies for doing so. I'll stick to commenting on Thai BGs in future.
  19. The thread is about having more money not having fun on a pittance. BTW, 2000 isn't enough to rent a decent looking burd for a night, and perhaps not even enough for short time.
  20. It is, but I had a very good friend that dropped dead in his 40s. Times up when it's up.
  21. Exactly right. My number was up when I turned 70, and I'm just waiting for my body to realise it's time to depart. I might feel differently if I had family that loved me or lotsacash, but just hanging around waiting is no way to live well. It's not like I haven't got a hundred things to do, but they are just time fillers. My original plan was to live by a beach, read a lot and watch movies on DVD, but that didn't quite work out, as I was seduced by the machine and waste my days on the internet instead.
  22. Money and fun trumps good deeds any time in my book.
  23. Why? I'm not going to be around long enough to leave it in the bank, so I'd leave 10% in the bank, buy a villa in one of those retirement places in case I don't die, and have a massive spend up with a bevy of lovelies to make me happy.
  24. Till my wife started refusing sex. If she hadn't done that I'd still be living there with her enjoying my life.
  25. I don't know if it's the apocalypse, but sure seems like the end of western civilization. The resemblance between now and the end of the Roman Empire is quite stark. The worship of money and false gods ( science and social media ) was never going to end well.
