  1. LOL. Unless one wants to commit sideways, it'd be a bit difficult to know when one is actually going to pass over the great divide. Back in the early years of the century, unsecured credit was incredibly easy to get in the UK. I had an occasional urge to borrow as much as possible, move to Thailand and never return, but 2007 saw an end to all that.
  2. I loved going on the BTS, and not for the view out of the windows. Another thumbs up for Thailand- girls still wear skirts and those short shorts. Something almost never seen where I am. Mostly wearing pants.
  3. Insurance 70,000 baht and too old to get anyway. 800,000 in bank for visa extension- don't have Plane fare- don't have Pension- can't get in LOS. Next.
  4. It may be different today, but sex ed when I was at school was a bad joke. Consisted of one teacher telling us to buy a bed with a footboard, and another asking me is I preferred round or pointed breasts ie I didn't get any sex ed at school. Father never discussed it with me. Mother attempted to but was just embarrassing. Personally, I think all the talk in the world never stopped 2 young people bonking without caring about contraception if they had the opportunity. PS Oops, just remembered that I was going to give that subject a pass as off topic. Will try to remember next time.
  5. My mother never saw doctors, ate healthy, was into all the new age stuff. Lost a leg to diabetes and died not long after. Is that what you mean?
  6. I don't play golf, but that's how I want to go, after doing something I love.
  7. Bring back fat shaming. Education and being PC about them doesn't work. Make them pay for two seats on aircraft. Make them pay extra for hospital treatment for conditions brought about by obesity eg diabetes.
  8. My old man was in his 90s when he died. I hadn't seen him for many years, and visited him about a year before he died. It was so sad to see him, as although he was in a good rest home, he had no friends, and basically sat in his room by himself. No family members as he chose to live in a foreign country ( that must strike a chord with some posters in LOS ) and refused to go back home where he had a daughter. I thought it was a release from a miserable life when he finally did pass.
  9. If he's right, and you start to feel the effects of terminal cancer, it's too late to have any fun before you do die. How about a second opinion instead?
  10. ????? How are you supposed to duct tape the plastic bag if the valium made you go to sleep?
  11. You just made me desire a big breakfast! PS. I hope you got rid of the fly before eating it.
  12. Given Iran would IMO be spending that money on terrorism I hope they never get to sell their oil so long as the religious guys are in charge.
  13. If that's true, it must be as big a failure in your country as IMO in mine.
  14. If by "listen" you mean start agreeing with you ( and him ) on most subjects, don't hold your breath on that.
  15. I'd certainly prefer a young daughter to use contraception if they couldn't say no. Far better than them getting pregnant. My partner put her daughter on the pill and I thought that was a good idea. Hasn't been brought up, but it takes two to make a baby, so I hope those posters with young boys have had the "talk" with them. However, this is somewhat off topic so I'll leave it at that.
  16. Wanting to have sex and thinking about getting pregnant are apparently 2 different things, given the furore about abortion in the USA. If many females in the US don't think about the consequences of having sex, why does anyone expect females in Thailand to do so? In a perfect world no young teenagers would have sex and only mature women that can afford to have children would do so, but we don't live in a perfect world.
  17. More to the point, they are already in France, a country that is "safe", so what is it about France that makes them risk leaky rubber boats to get to a country that some think is institutionally racist?
  18. Indeed. However we live in an age when some are looking to find something/ anything, no matter how many rocks they have to look under, to be outraged about. They see fault where others see nothing much to get exercised about ( that reminds me of the Bruce Willis movie about the boy that saw ghosts ).
  19. Perhaps Boris decided that the agro he'd get just wasn't worth it, or perhaps he didn't want the third candidate having a chance. Without Boris running it's highly likely that Sunak will be next PM.
  20. I had to laugh when I saw this is right before the next thread which says that Boris is "clearly going to stand".
  21. NZ doesn't need him back. A lengthy stay in a privately run prison in the USA is better.
  22. Who is talking about without due process? Pass a law banning patches and jailing gang members and it's due process.
  23. Isn't it just sooooo annoying when someone has the "wrong" ( as in not agreeing with you ) opinions?
  24. In Lamphun I lived in an area privately developed for residences. The concrete road obviously didn't have enough cement in the mix because the road fell apart. However, they never got the road builder back to repair it, so everyone had to put up with a terrible road.
