I agree. I've had life altering setbacks in life from which I recovered, eg at 35 I lost my house, car and most of my money, but I went on to have another career, travel, work in other countries, discover lovin' in LOS, and generally have an interesting life.
IMO there are no winners or losers. Just lucky or unlucky.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks if not for x, y, z they'd have been wealthy, happy and fulfilled.
In my case it's "if I'd gone to work in the Australian mines instead of becoming a nurse I'd be livin' in LOS, wealthy, happy and waking up with at least 1 lovely lady in my bed every day".
Was it just bad luck that I made the wrong choice? IMO yes.
Depends on what we call success.
Is success living the life we dreamed of after we retire, or is it looking back on a life of sacrifice that benefited others at our own expense?
Millions work hard, but never benefit.
Agree. Too many walking into end times for western society too transfixed by PC, wokeness, social media, internet, next smartphone edition, etc to notice.
Fortunate for NATO that they will never be in a court of law then.
You may have missed it, but if Ukraine uses an American weapon to attack Russia directly, the Russians may well consider that an attack by America, and react accordingly ergo WW3. Is that what any want?
Obviously a non NATO country can join Ukraine and declare war on Russia, providing they don't mind a missile or two in return.
Is Belarus in NATO? No it's not, so an attack on Belarus is not an attack on NATO.
I don't find the Ukrainian conflict laughable, but I am boggled by some of the posters that apparently want to start WW3.
If I use a LOL, it's because of the post, not the conflict. I'd have used a laugh emoji, but we are not allowed to do so anymore.
As I'm sure you know, there is a difference between the west giving weapons to Ukraine to use and ( as some apparently want ) western countries or NATO attacking Russian forces directly.
I doubt Russia wants WW3 any more than we do, so IMO as long as it's only weapons to Ukrainian forces that is avoided.
I'm comparing like for like.
I wouldn't live in Bkk because it's expensive. Choose to live there, don't complain about the cost.
Compared to where I do live, I stayed in far superior accommodation in Chiang Mai for less than rent here.
Sometimes ate western food in restaurant- cheaper than takeaways here.
Never read such rubbish before on this forum.
I'm not implying that expats SHOULD do anything. If they want to live a western lifestyle in LOS, don't complain that it isn't cheap, because that is their choice.
LOL.
Dental is very much waaaaaaaaay cheaper in Thailand, and I was registered with an NHS dentist in London.
I had teeth done in both countries, mainly Thailand because it's so much cheaper. Plenty of root canals and crowns.
Have you not been in Bkk since they built skytrain and underground?
Intercity buses are modern and certainly not clapped out pieces of junk. I've been on plenty and better than the National Express intercity buses in the UK that I used.
Trains were not the best, but very cheap compared to UK and I never had a problem with second class sleepers.
No, but they allow those that are not too proud to take public transport to get somewhere quickly.
If people want to sit in a private car and burn petrol in a traffic jam, when there is a better alternative, I have no sympathy with them.
Most people won't fight for something they don't believe in, and not everyone believes in the west's participation in this conflict. Nothing to do with siding with Putin.
Of course I'd fight for my country ( I was in the military ), but I've seen nothing to convince me that participation in the Ukraine war is anything to do with us. Russia isn't threatening to take us over.
On what basis would NATO directly aid a non NATO country to attack Russia, so long as Russia was not threatening any NATO country?
Seems some are keen to start WW3.

IMO we are like frogs in water getting hotter. Things got worse slowly, so we didn't notice.
