  1. Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. They find a planet where all the bureaucrats were sent on a one way spaceship.
  2. Unfortunately I live in a country where the non criminals have been more or less disarmed. Criminals have no problem getting all the guns they want.
  3. Go bait someone else.
  4. Gangs sometimes require wannabe scumbags to go out and king hit some unsuspecting passerby. I did martial arts many years ago, and the best lesson I learned was to assume every stranger I passed by wished to do me harm and act accordingly to avoid being assaulted.
  5. What if the OP can't run? I can't run fast enough to escape a fit attacker.
  6. Look the wrong way at them is all the excuse they need these days. For the OP, judo, and avoidance is always the best policy if possible.
  7. No need for a nuke. Conventionally armed ICBM would do just fine ( but not good for you only 7 km away ). Better get digging on the bunker. At least you'll be able to come out once the shouting is over, as no radiation.
  8. I've been to Barnsley. Didn't seem any worse off than anywhere else I went in the UK.
  9. At the time I'm talking about, the only computers would have been those big room sized things that used tape. So OK, there would have been guys that operated/ fixed them, but not as we know them today. If you know different, tell us.
  10. LOL. The end of the world as we know it happens and you are worried that you won't be able to get money or use the internet? BTW, even if the banks in Thailand still operated, if your country is a radiated desert, your currency won't be worth diddly.
  11. No idea what Vof A site means, and neither does google. You assume they'd waste a nuke on Thailand which isn't a threat? If there is any danger to farangs it's that locals will take their goodies, and if the wind is in the wrong direction it's over for anyone without a bunker and months of supplies, IMO. For an idea of what it might be like watch "On the Beach".
  12. Better stock up on weapons then. Otherwise people with weapons will steal your gold and food and leave you to starve.
  13. While correct, how many people could realistically do any of that? IMO sod all. You're either in the right place when it happens or kiss this life goodbye. However, as said already, unlikely, so not much point stressing about it.
  14. Well said. If it happens there isn't anything any of us can do about it, except try to survive best we can. Those in LOS with access to farms will be the winners, while those in high up condos in cities not so much. Those that don't like guns may come to regret it. Anyway, it didn't happen when Kennedy and Khrushchev faced off, and IMO that was a higher risk than now. I don't think it's going to become a full on nuclear war, whether Putin uses tactical ones or not, so correct to say "there's no point in worrying about something which may never happen".
  15. 20 years younger I'd be digging my own bunker, but if ( and that's a very large if ) it happens I'll be exiting this life when the gangs take over. I have no desire to be on the surface in some sort of Walking Dead scenario.
  16. Only works if one believes. I haven't believed in such for over 40 years. My mother was a great believer in such, and lost her leg because she wouldn't see a Dr when she got diabetes. Only thing I believe in, other than God, is that I was born and I'll die, and inbetween there will be a lot of stuff- some bad, some good. Best I can do is make the most of the good stuff when it happens. Can I make stuff happen- nah. However, as always, up to you.
  17. "I am not talking about cars specifically. However I would rather go without if nuclear was the answer." That sure seems to be about cars.
  18. If it goes full on nuclear we are all screwed, wherever we live.
  19. Perhaps you can, but some of us could not. Why else would I spend too much on a car that i never wanted? In Thailand I never needed a car or a m'bike as it actually has a public transport service. Likewise in London. If done properly, nuclear is a perfectly safe method of producing power as proven by the French. If they could sort the disposal it would be perfect in a CO2 averse world.
  20. I'm surprised it wasn't done, but I'm not in the British government to know why they didn't. Australia is not popular in certain circles for it's policy on sea arrivals, but it does seem to have stopped the deaths at sea, which is the important thing, is it not? Far as I know they don't send undocumented immigrants to the island if they arrive by air and land in Australia. It's a policy designed to stop people trying to sail on unseaworthy vessels. I don't see why it would not work in the case of channel crossings if the British government did it too, provided they exited certain agreements. Up to them.
  21. That would be nice if I could. In countries other than Thailand, people have been beaten down by covid, bad government and financial problems. You may have a shock of you ever go back to a western country.
  22. That's only about seratonin. There are many more chemicals in our body than seratonin, without which we are not able to function. I stand by my belief.
  23. The one that one created the universe. Anyway, many paths to the same destination.
  24. Easy to say- did you ever? I did, about the worst bully in the last hospital department I worked in, but the manager refused to do anything about it. The manager was also a bully. So, what are you going to do about it then? Go postal? Not my style. In the end I retired early to go live in Thailand with my wife to be, so that made it other people's problem. When I started off in the military had I complained I'd have been taken out back and beaten up by the NCOs. Sometimes just can't beat city hall, and life is what it is.
