  1. How do I ever survive without one 55555555555555555555555 ( I don't have one )
  2. Those are called "manga". OP must be very young not to know what people did before the phone mania began. As for Thai people, they did what anyone else in the world did without the stupid phones smartphones, except they seemed to have far more public phones available than in any other country I was ever in.
  3. Her job? Don't need a qualification to sit in a room and let someone talk for 1/2 hour without any contribution.
  4. If he's so great, why do I know nothing about him?
  5. Superstition is not magic. Of course magic exists, which is why we marry the women we do. Must have been under the witch's spell when we thought they were the one.
  6. You must be very lucky then. I don't know anyone ( apart from my farmer friends ) that would carry on in their jobs if they won Lotto. The only job I ever did that I loved passionately was in Antarctica, and the money didn't matter as we didn't need more than pocket money for bar drinks. Back then we could only stay 1 year at a time, so sadly it ended for me, and I met my first partner after I got back, so that was the one and only time I truly enjoyed a job.
  7. 1, 1,000 baht long time! Do tell us where such is available as we all want to know. 3, I told both my partners to not tell me and to use a condom if they had an affair. I don't know if they did, but I assumed they did occasionally. Such is human nature.
  8. I doubt you know many farmers then. However, I only worked to be able to live, and I never lived to work ( for someone else ). Probably the greatest tragedy of my life ( apart from choosing the wrong women to love ) was nursing. I should look back on it as something very worthwhile that I cherish, but I don't. Just too many nurses ( especially nurse managers ) were bullies for it to be a great occupation. In the end I only stayed in it to be able to travel. Nurses are in such short supply worldwide ( because, surprise surprise, enough people just don't want to do it anymore ) that one can probably get a nursing job anywhere. I spent 24 years doing it, and don't regret leaving it for a second.
  9. Assuming you are referring to the LOS farang bar scene, you are showing your ignorance or are biased against sex for pleasure if paid for. Saying "Especially involving a weaker part, where equality doesn’t exist." is a giveaway that you know little about the scene. However, ( as in every aspect of life ) a very small % will be losers, but they would likely be losers whatever they do. Girl gets money, guy gets happy, so what's not to like?
  10. I sometimes say that too, but who is George Best that I should be quoting him?
  11. IMO blame culture for that, not tradition per se. IMO traditions are things we do to cheer us up like having a Christmas tree.
  12. That's a despicable post. https://www.up.ac.za/research-matters/news/post_2999519-concentration-camps-in-the-south-african-war-here-are-the-real-facts More than a century after 48 000 people died in concentration camps in what’s known as the South African War between 1899 and 1902 – or the Anglo-Boer War – the events of that period are back in the headlines.
  13. Slavery was a normal part of life for many communities in the past, so not traditional, public floggings likewise. Tradition is more along the lines of things which we do because they comfort us eg eating turkey at Christmas.
  14. Building to withstand storms is entirely possible- ask the inhabitants of Darwin about that. It probably costs a lot more to do so, which is why developers are possibly not too keen on doing so. It has to be a government mandate, or it's likely not going to happen.
  15. IMO the most clever things politicians do is to fool the voters that "they" are in charge and that we have a country that doesn't belong to "special interests".
  16. IMO doesn't matter which politicians supported that despicable war ( in Iraq ) based on ( IMO ) lies. Shame on the lot of them.
  17. I think we can thank the "team of professionals" for the recovery. Let's give the credit to those that deserve it.
  18. Oh so true. IMO her ( IMO ) abject failure on the southern border has put off those that might otherwise have attempted to remove him already, but having an idea of what might happen with her in charge have decided to let sleeping horses ( or sleepy presidents ) lie.
  19. To be fair, it was a chaotic 4 years, but caused by his opponents continual attempts to oust him ( and always failing ), and the IMO despicable Sessions for recusing himself instead of resigning. Should have been sacked on the spot.
  20. Is that all you have to excuse him for trying to call a dead person?
  21. Did Biden write those speeches himself? If not, all he has to do is be able to read a teleprompter. Trump isn't the topic despite attempts to make it so.
  22. LOL. When the other guy made a false statement the media bigged it up, but for Biden not so much. Biased perhaps?
  23. It's called divide and rule. Been practiced since the Roman Empire existed. If people were united, it would be "difficult" for the ruling "class" ( ie professional politicians living a cushy life at other people's expense ) to get away with the bad things they do eg starting wars in which the voters get to die in large numbers.
  24. I addressed your post as a stand alone about polls. Do you disagree that the only accurate poll is the election, and that it's far too soon to be considering who the candidates for POTUS will be?
  25. Let's wait till winter to see if a lack of heating changes people's minds.
