  1. Always a bad experience then? You can't have found a decent one, but they are out there.
  2. IMO they can wait forever. Renting is the way to go. Then, when it all goes wrong one can walk away.
  3. Half the fun of travel is experiencing things for oneself, not as some other person did. I'd never watch a VDO of a place I'd never been, though I'd read up about it- back then it was in a Lonely Planet book.
  4. I stayed in one of those floating rooms, but never again as the unmuffled long tails going past were too annoying.
  5. Yes, that's the way to go. If I'd researched all the trips I made I might have not done them to my loss. I did one trip through the jungle that took about 4 hours in 1st and 2nd gear, but worth it. Before starting on the jungle road we asked locals for directions and they told us not to do it as too difficult!
  6. I lived there for a couple years. No beach but better than Chiang Mai to live in. C M is only a short trip away. If anyone has an interest, the temple that was in one of the Rambo movies is not far from Lamphun, and a pleasant day out. It's above the Temple of the Footprint, and has a road to drive up ( the stair climb is very, very long ). Fantastic view. If I was going to be a monk I'd choose that place. Plenty of great scenic adventures in that area like the MHS loop, and Cave Lodge ( lots of caves worth visiting. You'd have to try hard to be bored living there.
  7. GF is as bad as a wife. Let them stay a week and they think they are entitled. Why would I care about Buffet? If he has $100 bn he hasn't spent IMO he must be a misery guts. No one person needs that much money. No wonder people dislike the rich.
  8. I didn't like the style of writing, but IMO and in my experience, he was pretty close to the mark about Thai BGs. Beautiful, lusty and hearts of stone.
  9. Fair enough, but having multiple bonks a day when they presumably just lie there is hardly the same as what a Thai BG does ( in my experience ). Actually, never having been to Holland ever, I'm not qualified to comment on those women, so apologies for doing so. I'll stick to commenting on Thai BGs in future.
  10. The thread is about having more money not having fun on a pittance. BTW, 2000 isn't enough to rent a decent looking burd for a night, and perhaps not even enough for short time.
  11. It is, but I had a very good friend that dropped dead in his 40s. Times up when it's up.
  12. Exactly right. My number was up when I turned 70, and I'm just waiting for my body to realise it's time to depart. I might feel differently if I had family that loved me or lotsacash, but just hanging around waiting is no way to live well. It's not like I haven't got a hundred things to do, but they are just time fillers. My original plan was to live by a beach, read a lot and watch movies on DVD, but that didn't quite work out, as I was seduced by the machine and waste my days on the internet instead.
  13. Money and fun trumps good deeds any time in my book.
  14. Why? I'm not going to be around long enough to leave it in the bank, so I'd leave 10% in the bank, buy a villa in one of those retirement places in case I don't die, and have a massive spend up with a bevy of lovelies to make me happy.
  15. Till my wife started refusing sex. If she hadn't done that I'd still be living there with her enjoying my life.
  16. I don't know if it's the apocalypse, but sure seems like the end of western civilization. The resemblance between now and the end of the Roman Empire is quite stark. The worship of money and false gods ( science and social media ) was never going to end well.
  17. Are those strange things that look like waffles hash browns? Too small for me, as I like my hash browns large size and at least 3 of them. Also, no fried onion and only 3 mushrooms is taking the p.....
  18. Never been out of the Beach Rd area then? The good stuff isn't there.
  19. LOL. Not all of us need to drink to excess. I like to experience good things without being in an alcoholic haze. Need a social life- yes, but there's nothing around here that even approximates the Thailand scene, so missing it. If I even look at a young woman here they'd probably call the thought police on me.
  20. It's called "democracy". Till they ban freedom of speech it's allowed.
  21. Google doesn't bring up Hay Yai, so assuming it's Hat Yai, it's not too far from the coast. I've done that trip.
  22. It was. I always went there till it went trendy and horrible. My first resort was JJ Palace on Chaweng, but it got burnt down a few years later. Had the most amazing restaurant. Chaweng beach has to be as good as anywhere on Earth, but it's a shame they put the flight path right over the middle of it.
  23. I'd use it to get to Phangan ( no interest in Samui any more ) in preference to going to Bkk and taking the train, the bus to the ferry terminal and the ferry to the island. That leaves only the ferry from Samui to Phangan. I'd use the seating though, as probably no worse than a bus to Surat Thani.
  24. LOL. The internet shop near where I lived in Pattaya had loads of BGs sending messages just like that to all their regular customers. Such are just part of the game.
  25. I am aware of that, but perhaps you never experienced the real thing to know how fantastic it is. There is waaaaay more to a great sexual experience than just the orgasm. I lived with a woman in a western country for years and never knew what great sex was till I arrived in LOS.
