  1. As there are 4 threads currently on the first page of "political soapbox" referring to the UK, two of which deal with aspects relating to the "western trainwreck" you discern there, one must assume not! Good try at stirring the pot though!
  2. Is a government department such as the treasury actually allowed to make such a partisan political statement?
  3. I thought that the government was shut down. Nice to see that some of the normal functions continue...
  4. And as a convicted felon, with convictions for prostitution related offences, the sky is the limit!
  5. Wasnt that mooted about 90 years ago - I seem to remember reading Madagascar was the chosen option! In the end they damn near exterminated them - probably easier. Funny that seems to be the preferred option of the "from the river to the sea brigade"!
  6. You quoted two links/sources: "Politico" reporting what government agencies are saying, and the White House website. Of course government agencies and the White house will blame the Democrats! The reality is that the Republicans don't have the numbers to pass their funding measures in Congress; in an attempt to get support they made some vague promises to address Democrat concerns over health care, promises which both sides realise that they have no intention of keeping. So the Democrats, not unreasonably, are not prepared to support them on such a flimsy basis. The Republicans have countered with a remarkable accusation that The Democrats have a hidden intention to extend healthcare funding to illegal immigrants. Mr Speaker Johnson has been very much at the fore in these accusations, lieing most fluently and shamelessly for one who claims impeccable Christian values! The Democrats are now even less likely to support these funding measures, so through their actions the Republicans have muddied the waters and made any resolution even more difficult.
  7. Funny how some chap broadcasting from what appears to be his garden shed has live pictures of associated and quite violent islamic inspired disturbances in Westminster and Scotland, yet the dear old BBC don't seem to be covering it. Never mind, I'm sure that they will get round to it in due course!
  8. How in the name of all that is holy, in whatever religion you may subscribe to, if he calls himself "Jihad", could he have been given British citizenship, and not have come to the attention of the various agencies whose job is to counter such radicalism?
  9. No, rather, government agencies are blaming "far leftist democrats".
  10. Hamas do not want peace. It really is as simple as that. Any peace settlement with Israel threatens their very existance. They started the present round two years ago. They intend to fight to the end. They would rather survive as the lords of rubble rather than allow Gaza and Gazans to live. They are motivated by an implaccable hatred of Israel and the Jewish people, and a desire to destroy the country and slaughter its people. They started with a functioning de facto state, albeit one built on and controlled by terror. One that flouted the norms of modern civilisation, it's schools, hospitals and just about every institution doubling as functioning as bases for terror, planned, built and controlled with that in mind. That has been reduced to ruins; but they dont really care about that. If they (Hamas) survive, and remain in charge whilst Gaza is rebuilt (by others) they will sooner or later resume attempts to destroy Israel and kill Israelis, and subvert the entire rebuilding and renewal of society to supporting those aims. The savagery of what they did on October 7th 2023 showed the world exactly what they were prepared to do; they have repeatedly proclaimed their intention to continue doing so until Israel is destroyed and it's people slaughtered. I have little time or respect for Nethannayu or his government, it seems that (although they elected it) so do an increasing number of Israelis. But what choice does Israel or the Israeli (Jewish) people have - if they were to replace their current government with the most liberal and peace seeking of governments, the attacks will continue. They tried, as a people, being supine and accepting what was done to them in the past, in (just) living memory. That resulted in millions, millions, of deaths in the industrial extermination of Europes' Jews, and of course led to the establishment of Israel. Now a concerted effort remains to finish that; in effect, to kill the rest of them. What choice has Israel got? There are two sides, and one side is dedicated and driven by the intention to utterly destroy the other, no mercy, no quarter; the world saw that on October 7th 2023.
  11. Why? Law abiding white people have nothing to worry about.
  12. Oh I think we have already worked that one out!
  13. I wonder - did they end the assembly by linking arms as comrades and singing the traditional anthem; you know the one " The working class can kiss my arse, I've got the foremans job at last!" Always used to bring a comforting glow that did, as we sat in West Germany facing the Soviet 3rd Shock Army!
  14. Job creation for the children of the white South African asylum seekers?
  15. Look on the bright side - attacker is a muslim, attacked are Jews - it is jolly diverse! Whats more, now we have recognised the Palastinian State, we will have someone to make strong representations to! No doubt that gobby little naive bint Greta Thundberg is even now planning an expedition up the Manchester Ship Canal to bring succour to the bereaved - or perhaps not?
  16. No, I didn't think you could, or would!
  17. Trump wanted this shutdown. It inevitably puts the Epstein files on the back burner. However sooner or later, somehow, government will resume; and public interest in the Fragrant Leaders deep concerns for teenage girls will be rekindled - it is after all what marks him out as an extraordinary President, defines his legacy!
  18. Mind you, it is not entirely unknown to come across nasty mocking comments from those "on the right" either!
  19. A question: does Mr Hegseth actually blow his nose on the handkerchief he invariably carries in his suit jacket breast pocket?
  20. Laudable, however, as speed is very much of the essence in such matters perhaps even the 5 minutes setting up the photo op was a waste. Land, open door, bloke with cool box jumps in, off you go.
  21. Almost certainly, at one time, the game plan. It however came rather unstuck, and I rather suspect many of his backers will have bailed!
  22. I have done a "factory reset" on two of the three phones. Makes no difference.
  23. Thank you for your response. Of course I can use only my PC, although I do like the convenience of posting from my armchair! I will try your suggestions about desktop versions and VPNs, I rarely have more than one tab open on my browser. I have also tried a different service provider - I live right next to a school and can access their WIFI. Same problem. So thats three phones, three operating systems, three browsers and two ISPs!
