  1. Well now, the British tried to tell Afghanistan what to do and came unstuck, twice, in the late 19th century. The Russians tried to tell Afghanistan what to do and came unstuck in the late 20th Century. The Americans put together a coalition and tried to tell Afghanistan what to do and came unstuck in the first quarter of the 21st Century. A keen student of history is our Donnie. Now he is going to have another go! Such threats as "bad things are going to happen" leave them unmoved. They have deliberately created a cruel, savage, medieval, theocratic society and don't care.
  2. Why did a monkey in Lopburi give you a red thumbs down?
  3. Well after all, (although I didn't watch the whole bizarre performance) one of the clips I did see did include the " Fragrant Leader" pointing out, to said world leaders, that "I am very good at this"! The very pinnacle of self approbation. Taking a wider view, it is often held (and I tend to agree) that the UN General Assembly includes some of the most ruthless, corrupt and self serving "leaders" on the planet - although I also think that it is our best (only) vehicle to sort out some of the messes we have made in this world. How ironic then to observe how far and fast America has fallen!
  4. I absolutely agree - we share something other than a first name and surname initial! I suspect that my views on a wide variety of subjects are completely different to yours; however if I think that posters are being silly or provocative, like you I dont "ignore them" (and then gleefully announce it as if I have just employed the ultimate sanction), I generally just dont bother with them. One or two have "put me on ignore", rather a badge of honour I often think!
  5. Well, the ear grew back, the ketchup blood stains washed out. The escalator, well escalators (golden or not) do have a certain resonance. Probably did not enjoy watching Malamia walking up the stairs in front of him either, reminded him rather of what he is missing!
  6. Funny isnt it how certain events merit in depth immediate investigation (escalators at the UN), whereas others (notably anything to do with Epstein) are ignored! Release the files tapes.
  7. I am unable to load the site on my Android Phone (Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro runnimg Android 7) using the Chrome Browser. This has been an intermittent problem in the past. It has rather rturned with a vengeance. The visual "symptom" is that the loading status bar stalls about 10% of the way across, and eventually I get the "cloudfare gateway time out" screen. I have tried clearing the browsing history. The site then loads, requiring me to sign in again. Omce signed in, if I attempt to change forums the same thing happens. Have you any suggestions?
  8. Yes, umh, that's why I said I was dating myself!
  9. Mind you, his was different.. Advice, take a look at Nana Plaza, Thermae, Soi Zero, Clinton Plaza, Sukhumvit Square ( might be dating myself a tad here)!
  10. I suspect the process of "taking over" will do such damage that Russia will cease to be a threat to anyone. Syria, Iraq and Libya used to pose a threat to countries in their respective regions. No longer. I suspect it will be the same, albeit on a different scale. Unless you have an effective, prepared successor in place, and with his hands firmly on the levers of power then such regimes inevitably fall. The trouble is such a successor is seen as a threat to the incumbent. The exception perhaps is North Korea, but massive effort, perhaps the predominant effort, has always been towards building and maintaining the "Kim" dynasty.
  11. If/ when Putin "goes" the fighting within Russia to replace him will bleed the place dry.
  12. Either too dense to understand a simple point, or trolling - again! I will go with the latter.
  13. And then they wonder why they laugh at him!
  14. I obviously spoke too soon. Shall I explain? In simple terms, all authoritarian regimes, of whatever colour, need to identify an internal enemy against which to mobilise their supporters. Hitler had European Jewry, Stalin the Kulaks, Mussolini and Franco the communists. MAGA seems to have identified "the left". As for my philosophy: well there is a well known scene in Bob Fosse's film "Cabaret". A crowd in a sun dappled Bavarian beer garden join a Hitler Youth boy in enthusiastically singing the anthem "The Future Belongs to Us!"; but in the crowd one elderly man holds back, obviously seeing where it will all lead. Perhaps fanciful, but I identity with that man.
  15. As someone pointed out elsewhere, the Palestinian Governement in the West Bank, who will no doubt claim to be the true representatives of the Palestinian people, a claim that will inevitably be accepted, are currently in the 19th yeqr of their 4 year elected term.
  16. Well done, you got the allusion!
  17. I fear many of you are being too harsh. After all, we did send one back last week. Eritrean I believe, we put him on an Air France flight apparently (no doubt the UK taxpayer paid)! Mind you, he was probably back amongst the 1000 or so who came across over the weekend!
  18. Ah well, you see, that is because when they produce the small loaves they take a large loaf, slice It, and then put one half in each bag to produce two small loaves. Now logic suggests that half of all Lotus own brand small loaves will come with no crusts at all. Unless - Lotus bake larger loaves, but only large enough that when baked, sliced and bagged they only produce one large and one small loaf! An enquiring mind can be such a curse don't you think?
  19. Well they benefited him - cheap labour ( not to mention a hot "catalogue" wife)! Now they still benefit him. Any regime based on a cult needs an enemy to focus the hatred of their supporters on - his (theirs) are illegal immigrants. Parallels: Jews, Communists, Kulaks, illegal immigrants; it is all vaguely familiar.
  20. Interestingly enough, the "farmhouse" brand has a crust at both ends, Lotus own brand I just noticed has a crust only at one end! From that, Dr Watson, the inescapable conclusion is that they must bake it in really long loaves!
  21. Well no, apart from never having read Orwell or probably any other authors mentioned - if he was quoting literary connections between the USA and UK he could have mentioned Mark Twain, Steinbeck, Harper Lee - perhaps not the last two - they are irrevocably woke after all; his speech did have a couple of quite long words in It, even for a stable genius!
  22. Tylenol, that is Paracetamol isn't It? But we have little choice but to use it if we live out "in the sticks"; you see there is no aspirin in the jungle because the parrots ate 'em all! I know it is not a very good joke, but in my defence Trump and Kennedy "quacking" about autism isn't either!
  23. I wonder when Wikipedia will start referencing Asean Now as an authoritative source?
