  1. This place has gone to the dogs. I have been a member here for 10 years and always got good advice.

Yes, things are not smooth between my wife and I right now, but that is because of a bad business decision she made and I am angry about it.

This guy is dangerous, everyone who met him thinks the same. He has threatened me and my family, kids too. I have his resume but not his passport.

"This place has gone to the dogs. I have been a member here for 10 years and always got good advice."

You're still getting good advice, you just don't want to hear it.

If you are seriously concerned about your safety & that of your wife & family. Go to the POLICE.

If you are not trolling, take your wife with you... if she'll go. If she won't go with you, you have more than one problem.

If you BOTH report the situation to the police, they will take the appropriate action. Possibly a modest contribution to their "party fund" will produce quicker, more positive results.

    Cheers..... Mal.

  2. Good morning all.

A BIG thank you for all the info & advice, especially the PM's.

I've decided to take a different path than e-books.

I've been fortunate enough to be introduced to DASA used book shop in Bangkok. Enormous selection of books at very reasonable prices.

I've already placed my first order. Their service, so far, has been excellent.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers..... Mal.

  3. I started off with a Sony Reader when they first came out. Tried an i-pad. Moved onto an 7 inch Samsung. Finally, I've been happy with a Sony Xperia x4 with 11 inch screen. With advances in Android tablets, the arguments in favour of dedicated ebook readers (crisper screens and long battery life) no longer hold true.

UMMM - I mean Sony Xperia Z4 with ten inch screen.

Ahhh ! That's a bit easier to find. Thanks.

  4. G'day all.

Some info, advice please. I'm thinking of purchasing a tablet or similar to access books, novels. Unfortunately no English books available near where we live.

I'm a bit of an IT ignoramus. Can drive my laptop & mobile ok, but that's about as far as it goes. So, please keep replies in "Dummies Understand Mode" please.

    1. What should I be looking at ? A tablet of some sort ? My mobile is Samsung, but I guess others are as good.

    2. For reading material, books, novels, do I purchase individually or some sort of membership ?

    3. Are there any free sites to access books ?

    4. Beside accessing reading material, I'd use whatever device I purchase for when travelling, instead of carting my largish laptop about. Main use would be e-mailing & Googling.

    5. Can such devices be used as a mobile phone ?

I'm sure there's plenty of info on Google, but I'd appreciate some personal advice from anyone who's happy with what they are using.

    Thanks in anticipation..... Cheers..... Mal.

  5. Reading an article in a Cambodian magazine, a minister in Thailand wants all visitors to be issued wristbands by their hotels, with passport information etc., in case they become lost and do not remember where they are staying. Next it will be ankle bracelets.

Na, no ankle bracelets. Why not go straight to inserting a micro chip ? All required info & able to keep track of us 24/7. Job done.

  6. I may be wrong but in your title is chose the correct word for that sentence or is it choose?

If I were saying the sentence out loud I would say choose, but it's one of them words. But I suppose choose is present tense and chose is past?? I'm a native English speaker from England so I'm probably wrong tbf.

And sorry for going off the subject, it just stuck out for me and got me confused.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. "but it's one of them words."

I would have said, one of those words.

  7. ....I question whether a baby's head can smash a side-window...

That's because you can't do basic maths. You'd have no problem with the idea that I could throw a bowling bool through a car window would you? Even an 8lb one. Yet, the acceleration of that bowling bool (which is lighter than the baby) would be far lower than that of an infant thrown out of seat when the car goes from 70 mph to 0 mph in an instant.

Not everything is a conspiracy and it's ugly to suggest otherwise in the face of a tragedy like this. Stop pontificating from your armchair until you learn some simple physics and how to use a calculator.

    Useful formulae and theory:

    Force = mass x acceleration

    Pressure = force/area

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction,.

    Wow, a junior Einstein.

Forget all about your "formulae & theory & bowling bools". Automotive glass is designed to prevent breakage from body impact. Try punching or kicking a window as hard as you can .... it won't break. Special tools have been developed for the task. Some vehicles now come with said tool as standard equipment. It's the point of the tool, or a substitute, that breaks the glass on impact.

The tool is a cheap investment. Yes, I carry one in the door pocket of my car.

An 8 month old baby's head, skull, is still relatively soft. Skull can take up to a couple of years to harden. So, baby's skull way too soft to break glass.

SOTIRIOS was only questioning whether a baby's head could break the glass, he wasn't actually disputing the allegation. Have another read of your post, it's harsh at least & totally inaccurate at best.

I suggest you go & play with your bowling bool.

    Cheers..... Mal.

Garbage. You know why they make you wear seatbelts? Because when people hit windscreens - they go through them. Did you get your education in a 7-11 sale?

This site has some incredibly sick people. Announce a tragedy and immediately dispute a reasonable version of events. You could join SOTIROS back in school - a double typo notwithstanding is better than being a shameful loser with an unending downer on Thailand and anything you hear.

I'd be interested in a few "worthwhile" comments on both TheSiemReaper's and my ideas on the subject of baby breaking car window.

It would appear one of us is a little wide of the mark on said subject.

Education at 7/11, yep, it never ceases to amaze me what one car learn when visiting.

SiemReaper, ol mate. Might I suggest you do a little research on automotive glass before your next reply.

"unending downer on Thailand" If anything I'm more of a Thai apologist than a Thai basher or flamer.

    Your turn :-)

  9. Even 7-11 has medium tooth brushes.... However with no online shopping you have to extract your finger from your rectum and go and get them.

    Pardon

He said "Even 7-11 has medium tooth brushes.... However with no online shopping you have to extract your finger from your rectum and go and get them."

  10. Are you aware if they will provide non O based on retirement. They did previously. As far as I know there are no other consulates in AU that does.

This is probably a bit of a strange idea, but have you thought of sending an e-mail & asking ?

Here ya go, [email protected] that'll save you the trouble of looking for it.

Yeah, I know, a bit sarcastic, but some people just gotta be spoon fed.

    Cheers..... Mal.
