I have seen worse than this. 3 guys (university students) on a bike, no helmets and the policeman kindly picked up a cone and knocked the 3 off the bike. He then kicked the 3 of them in the head. I didn't video it as this behavior is a daily occurrence here in Thailand and highlighting that this would not be appreciated by the police or even Thai people in general. Showing the country in less than a positive light is frowned upon, no matter how true.

Yesterday I was pulled up at a check point. Insurance & road tax label out of date, by a few days. Explained to the nice officer that I had paid an agent & was waiting for new labels in the post. He didn't accept this.

He was holding my DL while interviewing me. He inquired where I was going. Explained I was going to the local hospital to see my step daughter. She is pregnant & having difficulties. My wife had been at the hospital with her for several days. He handed back my DL & said go, go, you must check she ok.

Just lucky this time I guess.

I don't know the correct law, you could always 'ask the lawyer' on this site but I think the best way to resolve this is to go and talk to your neighbour - have you tried this? Explaining the problem and discussing it is probably the best approach regardless of the law.
