  1. I see Lawson's doing their own homemade bread rolls...but not exactly hamburger buns that I can find with them. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid02NCEtnmQoFv8LPAF8RVfFTxSSTZXbPUHdcyuah9hRm1p73TDeDQbuMpfwSi7bR3Y9l&id=100087591307867
  2. Thanks for the suggestion: Soft and light Homemade burger buns, Ideal for burgers and sandwiches. Suitable for Vegans/Vegetarians No artificial flavoring, preservatives or coloring, no trans fats. Lactose free http://www.koratchef.com/product/burger-buns-ขนมปังเบอร์เกอร์/
  3. Ya, you're reminding.... Villa may well have been the last source I used long ago for the last time I went to buy hamburger buns for home... I think I used their off-the-shelf version of one third-party supplier, which were OK, but not ideal... I don't think I ever tried their frozen brioche variety (though I wish I had!)
  4. Aha! Getting closer... I asked Easy Burger, one of my preferred burger places in BKK, if they'd sell their potato flour buns separately...and their answer was no, not yet... But in looking, I saw they're collaborating with a different bakery in BKK called Nine Pastry (Sukhumvit Soi 22)....and when I went to their FB site, I found the following: Now that's a possibility! https://www.facebook.com/nine.pastry/posts/pfbid02CwN2vT8jPhn8pbbaDSyvhsMzKGizzY6x6Csg7s6tSXM9ZezbBdpoWeGiM89QeNAwl
  5. I see Holey's bakery in BKK has what they call an English style hamburger bap bun, whatever that is.... But it looks kind of dense and heavy, which is not what I had in mind. Though to be fair, I haven't tried it as yet.
  6. Around BKK, especially coming out of COVID, there really has been a burgeoning of western / artisanal bakery places around town selling breads, sandwiches, pastries, etc... And I know among those places the quality is good. I guess I've got to figure out if any of them have hamburger buns among their offerings.... which I can't say I've noticed thus far in my perusing.
  7. I'm in BKK, so I suppose another possibility is buying direct from one of the better hamburger retailers... But I don't know that I've seen or heard of any of them selling their buns solo as a side-line... I thought Sloane's used to carry some bakery products to go along with their meats, but I went to their website today, and found nothing in the way of bakery.
  8. Ya, I was thinking of something along the lines of a brioche or potato flour bun... As that seems to be what a lot of the better hamburger outlets around BKK are using these days....AFAIK... I hadn't even considered Lazada as a potential source for this! Thanks for the suggestion.... Though I have noticed a range of bakery sellers beginning to crop up there lately...which is a good thing!
  9. Central's website shows absolutely nothing from the Dockers brand.
  10. Think it's going to be pretty hard to find any 36 inch inseam pants here in Thailand.... though there used to be some farang export-oriented clothing outlets in some out of the way places around BKK.... don't know their status post COVID.... Bizarrely, even the online store King Size in the U.S., which used to sell pants in optional unhemmed versions up to 38 or 40 inches, now seems to mostly top out at 34 in. hemmed inseams. So they seem to have migrated more toward the horizontally "king size" folks instead of the vertically "king size" folks such as myself! In 15+ years of living here, I don't think I've ever bought a pair of long pants here locally in Thailand. Amazon and some of the online tall store sources in the U.S. are do-able, and there are ways to avoid/minimize their shipping/duty costs.
  11. Got some upcoming hamburger cooking to do at home, and just realized, I no longer have any idea where to buy some "quality" hamburger buns here.... something that will enhance the home-cooked burgers, not detract from their taste. So asking, what's your hamburger bun of choice here, and where do you buy them from? Thanks much!
  12. Can the two legal posters here clarify a few things on this method: --Can Sap Ing Sith status be inherited prior to the expiration of the holder's original 30-year term, if the original holder passes away? --Can Sap In Sith status be renewed for a 2nd 30 year term if the original acquirer was young enough at the outset, and the conveyor is willing? --How, in practice, is this method typically being used in the RE market here? Just by mixed families with a farang spouse? Or are individual Thai property holders willing to "sell" this way? Or are any housing developers "selling" their properties in this manner? --How are the various Thai province Land Departments treating this method? As a clearly established and allowed right, or one subject to their discretionary, and sometimes arbitrary, whims? Thanks!
  13. Latest weekly COVID update today from the Thai Ministry of Public Health -- a continuing decline in both new COVID hospitalizations (556 - red) and COVID deaths (8 - dark gray). Good news! The latest weekly COVID hospitalizations tally is Thailand's lowest figure since the middle of April prior to Song Kran. The latest weekly COVID deaths tally is Thailand's lowest figure since the week just after Song Kran. Two weeks ago -- July 9-15: Last week -- July 16 - 22: https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/posts/pfbid02b9QVp1YWD2FZ8Eb85ZMBRDEUxHo7zdKsPX9StpSvVvM6URB6r5sr1ZW5DuayigBl Also declines in the numbers of COVID patients hospitalized in serious condition (dark purple) and requiring intubation to breathe (light purple): July 15, 2023: July 22, 2023: https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/
  14. I've never signed up for a Thai PromptPay account... But even without it, when I go to transfer funds from one of my Thai bank accounts to a different Thai bank account, or pay a Thai merchant via a Thai bank transfer, I have the option of the transfers being instantaneous and they are free (no per transfer fee charged on the sending or receiving end). I'm hoping that will come to be the standard in the U.S. for U.S. domestic payments/transfers not too far down the road. The U.S. ought to be ahead on such things...not behind.
  15. Just to be clear - consumers won't have direct access to the FedNow network. It will be up to the individual participating banks and credit unions to offer the FedNow capabilities through their current online banking setups... much like those same institutions currently provide payments / fund transfers thru the widely used Automated Clearing House (ACH) system. Except in the case of FedNow based payments, the payments/transfers are supposed to be instantaneous, instead of the current domestic ACH payments/transfers that take anywhere from next-day to several days to settle right now.
  16. Here's the list from the Fed of the participating institutions at the start -- not a lot of household names of widely used banks and credit unions, as yet. Some of the better known / widely used: JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo Bank, US Bank, Salem Five Bank, Veridian Credit Union... https://www.frbservices.org/financial-services/fednow/organizations
  17. The second link/source I posted above noted that the current U.S. payments infrastructure has been lagging behind that of other countries.... The article said FedNow "will also bring the U.S. in line with other countries that have had a similar service in place for years, such as Brazil, the EU, India and the U.K."
  18. The Federal Reserve Thursday officially launched its long-awaited instant payment service FedNow, which allows consumers and businesses to send and receive money in seconds. The system lets Americans pay for groceries instantly, businesses pay their suppliers, or people pay each other. It will be available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, with full access to funds immediately. FedNow isn’t offered directly to individuals and businesses, but it will serve as the basis of infrastructure for instant payments by linking banks. Transactions occur between bank accounts and enable funds to be transferred from a sender’s bank account to a receiver’s bank account immediately. ... The service launches with the participation of 35 banks of different sizes, including JPMorgan and Wells Fargo as well as credit unions." (more) https://finance.yahoo.com/news/fed-launches-new-payments-system-that-lets-you-send-money-in-seconds-140305052.html Banks closely watch FedNow with payments system set for launch "Modernizing an antiquated U.S. banking system, the Federal Reserve is about to launch a new instant-payments system that'll be available 24/7/365. "FedNow" will be initially supported by 57 organizations like Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE:BK), JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM), Wells Fargo (WFC) and U.S. Bancorp (NYSE:USB), but there are plans to onboard more lenders and credit unions in the near future. ... Explainer: Currently, it can take anywhere from a day to many days for cash payments to settle - in order to verify a transaction, account amounts, and clearing of the funds. Under FedNow, all these steps would happen instantaneously, complementing similar private-sector real-time payments systems like The Clearing House's RTP network. ... FedNow will help everyone from consumers to small businesses settle directly via central bank accounts, unlike closed peer-to-peer networks like Zelle (JPM) or Venmo (NASDAQ:PYPL)." 19. That was a deliberate change made by the forum admins some months back... Nothing new with that change. And yes it was an intentional change, not a malfunction/bug that will be repaired.
  20. Health risks from Bovine Tuberculosis (TB) Can I drink raw milk from the bulk tank? Cattle may be infected with bovine TB in the udder. This is a serious disease risk if milk is unpasteurised. The Department recommends that you don’t drink unpasteurised raw milk. Bovine TB could be present in your herd but you will not know unless signs are found at routine slaughter or at a TB test. What if I sell unpasteurised milk? If your herd has a TB breakdown (ie reactors found at a TB test or an animal with lesions at routine slaughter), you will not be allowed to continue to sell your own unpasteurised milk or unpasteurised milk products (such as cream, yoghurt, cheese, etc) for human consumption, until your herd is derestricted." Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/articles/health-risks-bovine-tuberculosis-tb
  21. So you think drinking TB bacteria contaminated fresh milk is a good and healthy thing? "Bovine tuberculosis, caused by Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis), is a globally distributed chronic disease of animals. The bacteria can be transmitted to humans via the consumption of unpasteurised (raw) milk, thus representing an important public health risk." https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1472979222000038
  22. And let's be honest here... The police have allowed these "outlaws" to operate here openly for years without much blowback or apparent enforcement. It's only because they finally got caught up in this recent and widely publicized murder case that any kind of crackdown is finally occurring. But as with most police crackdowns here, the extent of it likely will be short-lived and much overblown... And the related crime will be back to normal before too long thereafter, maybe just with some new faces replacing the older ones.
  23. They seem to believe Thais don't like / won't eat beans.... And the rest of us, don't matter! But then again, we might also wonder why sometime back they also entirely dropped the original "pulled pork" option as a meat choice in their menu items. Hard for them to claim that Thais don't like / won't eat pork!!!
  24. RTP subliminal message? How do ya start this dang thing? ???? ????
