  1. The United Kingdom's vaccine advisory group today announced its recommendations for the updated COVID-19 vaccines that will roll out in the fall, which focus on people ages 65 and older and others at higher risk for severe disease. ... Aside from those ages 65 and older, the list includes people in nursing facilities and their caregivers, people ages 6 months to 64 who are in clinical risk groups, people ages 12 to 64 who are family contacts of immunocompromised people, and frontline health and social care workers. In separate document, the JCVI spelled out the people included in the clinical risk groups, which includes pregnant women, people with chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, individuals who are immunosuppressed, and people who are morbidly obese. 2. I ran into the same issue last year after I received a new passport from my home country. I tried but was unable to do my next 90-day report online (rejected), and had to go in person to my local Immigration Office (BKK CW) to do the routine report. After they handled the in-person report with the new passport, from then on, I was OK again to do regular online reporting.
  3. And now the attention turns again to Georgia on the Trump indictment watch: Georgia set to take over the Trump indictment spotlight "All eyes are on Georgia this week, where yet another indictment of former President Trump is expected imminently. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) has been probing Trump’s efforts to interfere in the state’s closely fought 2020 election for more than a year and is widely expected this month to bring the fourth indictment of 2023 against the former president. “The work is accomplished,” Willis recently told local news outlets in Atlanta." 4. Normally, BKK CW has been running about 3 business days turnaround time from filing an online report to receiving the confirmation/reporting receipt via email or via Immigration's 90-day reporting portal. But, as Lopburi says above, that kind of timeline can be extended some when government holidays come into the picture, or Immigration just gets busy. In general, if filing online, I think you don't want to let your deadline pass without having your report accepted. After some days, if your report is not accepted, you can cancel the original one and refile it online. Or, failing that, go in person to your local Immigration office to do an in-person report before your deadline date for in-person filing passes.
  5. To answer your specific question, "after re-entering" Thailand, you still should be able to do an online 90-day report when it comes due (with your new 90-day period starting with your most recent arrival date into Thailand. You don't have to do an in-person 90-day report, just because you had a recent international travel that reset your prior 90-day reporting date. I just had international travel back in May that reset my previous 90-day reporting date. That new date is approaching now, and I just today did my 90-day report online, and it was accepted by the online system. No problem because it was a new deadline triggered by my recent intl. travel.
  6. Just an FYI for online 90-day report filers who've had recent international travel: I originally had a prior 90-day reporting deadline back in June from my regular online report prior to that. But then that date was voided when I took an international trip out of and back to Thailand in late May... So at that point upon my return, a new 90 day report clock started ticking. Today, much to my relief, I was successfully able to file a new 90-day report online (filed, not accepted yet) for my new reporting deadline later in August -- even though their system presumably would still have showed my last reporting deadline as being long past due back in June (unless they've somehow been able to link new international flight arrivals into the 90-day reporting system). For whatever reason, even though I had an international flight out and back that triggered a new and different reporting date, the online system still allowed me to file the new report today based on the new reporting deadline triggered by my recent flight. Also, just as a PS - when you're doing the online reporting these days, the online system doesn't ask for your TM6 departure card number -- unlike the paper form TM47 filing.
  7. When I've called in the past, in the end, all the phone people could do in terms of addressing a potential problem was tell me to hike out to BKK CW. And from our conversation, it appeared the phone staff don't even have direct access to the Immigration databases / computer network to directly check on the status of a particular person's situation.
  8. On that score, Dershowitz has been in Trump's corner for a long time, defending him against impeachment by the Senate, regularly appearing on Fox News in defense of Trump, etc etc. Per the LA Times from 2020: "It might seem unlikely introspection for an outspoken lawyer whose high-profile career has been marred by his association with a now-dead pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, and who has now become a member of President Trump’s impeachment legal defense team. After months of fiercely defending the president on Fox News, Dershowitz said he will argue constitutional issues on the Senate floor." ... "In 2008, Dershowitz helped the wealthy financier secure a cushy plea deal with federal prosecutors in Florida while Epstein was under investigation on suspicion of sexually abusing underage girls." https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2020-01-17/alan-dershowitz-named-to-trumps-impeachment-legal-team It would have been better if Dershowitz had just stuck with the OTHER criminal, Epstein.
  9. I agree it's probably worse here... But higher education in the West isn't pristine by any means.... Just an example: "In 2019, a scandal arose over a criminal conspiracy to influence undergraduate admissions decisions at several top American universities. The investigation into the conspiracy was code named Operation Varsity Blues. ... Thirty-three parents of college applicants were accused of paying more than $25 million between 2011 and 2018 to William Rick Singer, organizer of the scheme, who used part of the money to fraudulently inflate entrance exam test scores and bribe college officials." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varsity_Blues_scandal A good part of the above scandal involved Singer and Co. bribing various college athletic coaches to falsely submit the names of prospective students (whose parents paid Singer) as athletic recruits (when in fact they weren't) to facilitate them being accepted for admission.
  10. Then the question becomes, how is TTB when it comes to opening new accounts for foreigners? In the past, back when they were just Thai Military Bank (TMB), as best as I recall, they weren't very accommodating unless maybe you had a Thai work permit. But not sure if things are better or worse after their merger with Thanachart Bank.
  11. Can't disagree with anything you said above...EXCEPT.... For most Thai graduates, they're going to end up working in the Thai employment sector, not international ones. And so for those folks, having a marginally worthwhile Thailand university degree at least serves the purpose of being recognized by Thai employers as a necessary notch on their resume....
  12. The OP report, as quoted below, indicates the victim was in more pieces than just two (head and torso). "The next day, Thursday (Aug. 3) a human pelvic bone with male genitalia was found in a garbage bag with the price tag attached at a rubbish dump. At 9 a.m. today two parts of a human right leg were found at this same dump." The same report, in the lede, correctly refers to the case as one of "murder and dismemberment."
  13. Curious.... In his remaining time left, he talks about smoking and drinking as among his pleasures to be enjoyed... But no mention of enjoying well-endowed and pleasure-minded ladies, who were the foundation of his original business and financial success. If I had a short time left, I think I'd be thinking about those kinds of pleasures as well! ????
  14. From the news reports, it sounds like "dismembered" would be the better description vs "decapitated," though presumably the victim was decapitated as well. ???? "dismemberment involves "the entire removal, by any means, of a large section of the body of a living or dead person, specifically, the head (also termed decapitation), arms, hands, torso, pelvic area, legs, or feet". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dismemberment
  15. Unfortunately, the OP article makes no mention of whom the criminal (impregnating a minor) father may be... Might be a BF... But considering the girl's hometown and her very young age relatively speaking, might equally well be her father, uncle or someone similar.
  16. What's missing from the whole plan laid out by Surachate is ANY connection between a farang's ability to pay increased visa or extension monies AND keeping criminals out of the country. As I've mentioned elsewhere, who's likely to have an easier time coming up with a lot of extra cash: --a motorcycle gang criminal involved in selling drugs, extortion, protections rackets, etc etc vs --your basic single or married farang living off his home country pension and perhaps some savings. It's the CRIMINALS who have going to have a far easier time coming up with the extra money that might be demanded. So in essence, the financial requirement alone won't do jack to keep the criminals out of Thailand, at least, not the motorcycle gang types.
  17. I'd rephrase what you wrote as follows: "They (the RTP) are the problem and the cause." They're the ones who have failed to effectively police and prosecute the dreaded farang motorcycles gangs, which ultimately culminated in the recent high-profile murder, despite them having been a big presence here for many years. And, they're the ones (the corrupt among them) who have facilitated the whole range of bogus / illegitimate visa issuances to various criminals (as with the Chinese triads scandal).
  18. Pita had COVID a bit more than a month back... which supposedly was his third go-round with the big "C" : Pita gets COVID-19, quarantines and suspends activities for a while June 20, 2023 https://www.thaipbsworld.com/pita-gets-covid-19-quarantines-and-suspends-activities-for-a-while/
  19. 1. The foundation being referenced in the OP is, AFAIK, a private entity with no power to compel the project's developers to do anything. And thus far, I don't recall hearing anything publicly from the developer offering refunds. 2. Prior news reports said the Bangkok governor was supposed to be announcing some resolution of the roadway access issue for the project in the next couple days.
  20. That's what I said...when I wrote: " It RESETS, meaning starts with an entirely new 90-day clock... not a continuation of the prior one at the point of departure."
  21. Trump is his own self-filling swamp that pretty much swamps everything else around him.
  22. The OP comment is basically correct... When you leave the country, the clock on your 90 day reporting resets and starts with a new 90-day count beginning with the day of your return. Except, the 90 day clock doesn't just "restart" -- the term used in the OP... It RESETS, meaning starts with an entirely new 90-day clock... not a continuation of the prior one at the point of departure.
  23. One might also ask, Big Joke was in a leadership position in the Immigration Bureau for a good period of time. During that time, what did he ever do to shut down the bogus Chinese visas deal that Immigration had been complicit in for many years, or to do anything to crack down on the organized crime motorcycle gang operations? Not much from all indications, as both have/had remained thriving operations long after his departure from the Immigration Bureau last time around. He talks a big game when it comes to such things... But when it comes right down to it, the Thai police and Immigration have continued to operate just as they always have....
  24. Here's a novel thought: How about having the Thai police actually do their jobs and arrest and prosecute the criminals for their criminal endeavors... Problem solved... And stop trying to raise the financial requirements for retirement extensions as a wrong-headed, non-effective measure that wouldn't really prevent major farang criminals from continuing to live and operate in Thailand.
