I doubt there is a more morally bankrupt culture than you find so often in Thailand. This is just one example. Another is, when a friend of mine died in Phuket, within a couple of hours the human vultures descended and striped his house bare, including of the bed he died on, and for good measure they stole his SUV too. Scum.

Return of Chinese Tourists to Thailand Has Pros, Cons
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is nothing wrong with Chinese tourists. But, as so often, Thailand for several reasons attracts the bottom of the barrel and the Chinese tourists it attracts are no exception. I've several times observed Chinese tourists in more up-market destinations such as Dubai and Singapore, and they do not swamp the buffet table but act as you and I would. Thailand gets what it deserves. It has always been a low-cost (read cheap) destination, and will continue to be - despite what the TAT keeps spouting. -
Ten People Injured After Bus Crash in Songkhla

Why did he even need his dropped mobile phone while he was driving? And to drop it he must have been using it anyway. But we'll never read any follow-up will we, about the driver or whether the company is fined. -
Quite the opposite, in fact. Many have a wide overhanging roof which offers some protection from the sun, but get a strong wind underneath and off comes the roof. Happened to the house next door to mine. Those few minutes, usually just before a storm as the air pressure changes, can be quite frightening.

My wife used to lock things away when family came to visit, and one night when I was away a nephew entered the house and stole two phones and some cash, one from right beside my sleeping wife. That was dealt with the Thai way, no police involved but he was sent off to do time in the army. I'd earlier banned him from the house as he'd wander in, ignore everyone and take snacks. That was his revenge, I suppose. And don't a large number of Thai houses have bars at the windows or decorative metal screens? A death trap for some, and I refused to have them when I bought our house. I have no intention of living behind bars. Have six dogs for security instead.

Yet again, someone who can't be bothered to read the linked article before posting. The Pattaya City Police Chief Colonel Thanapong Poethi told the Pattaya News that after reviewing CCTV at the apartment complex police have identified three male suspects and police are continuing their investigation. -
Move Forward party optimistic of positive response from senators

TAT could allow you to pick sides adding to the excitement. But not bet on the winner . That's illegal. Unlike removing an elected government. -
Move Forward party optimistic of positive response from senators
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It doesn't matter at all what the people voted. The last two democratically elected governments were removed as the 'wrong' party won (I'm discounting the last election before this, held under new rules introduced by the military). So even though the new broom has managed to beat the odds by garnering enough votes, it might well ultimately mean nothing other than more riots on the streets when the legitimately elected government is banned from taking power by the elites. As it always has been. I suppose TAT could spin the riots as a tourist attraction. -
Correct. And it is that lack of control and accountability which makes Thailand so attractive to the criminal element, as well as foreigners who want to escape the PC of their own country. In Thailand no-one has to try too hard to keep up standards because no-one cares much about anything. Thailand - Hub of Apathy.
