  1. In that case all the world should wear a mask all the time. People pass on colds and other diseases all the time. Always have done. Always will. Unless we all mask up 24/7, every day of the year, everywhere. People don't, because most people feel far more comfortable without a mask and want a better quality of life. Most people outside of Asia, anyway. I should add that I've been wearing a mask since the pandemic began whenever I've been in a store or other public building, or on public transport. Yesterday was the first day I have gone shopping without.
  2. I think that's why most people wear them. If/when the majority stop wearing them then so will the rest. It really has little to do with health concerns.
  3. I wrote that the vast majority are not wearing masks, not about their travel restrictions. This thread is about mask wearing.
  4. Interesting. Yes, an Asian thing I suppose, as it always had been pre-Covid. Strange that only Asians feel the need. Doesn't say much for the environment, if everyone is paranoid about their health. As for your second paragraph, me too.
  5. In my opinion, Beer Lao IPA is the nearest taste to a UK IPA but it's hard to find. A 7-11 near me sold it for a short time but does so no longer. I bought some at the Savannakhet border recently but was limited to bringing in only six small bottles. So, does anyone know where I might find it in Mukdahan? Quite often, things from across the river can be bought there when it's difficult to find elsewhere (Lao coffee is an example, but available online whereas in Thailand beer is not). If not in Mukdahan, maybe Kalasin which is closer to me.
  6. I'm not whining, just making an observation. If that's okay with you. And I have no idea what you are referring to regarding the Chinese. All I did was report what I've seen in dozens of videos. The overwhelming majority do not wear a mask - same as the rest of the world outside of Thailand and maybe Japan.
  7. Idiotic comment which adds nothing to the thread.
  8. Maybe because almost the entire world has moved on from wearing a mask. Even in China, despite the recent anti-Covid restriction protests. I've watched dozens of videos of day and night street scenes in various parts of China and the vast majority - I'd guess over 90% - don't wear a mask now. It's annoying when Thais want to impose their sheep stupidity on others. The whole world is wrong to give up mask wearing. Only Thailand is right. Nothing new there.
  9. And if you go to a local government hospital or clinic it costs next to nothing. I know. The only time in my 26 years here that I've seen a Thai take responsibility for anything was when his dog raced out to the road and bit me as I passed. He took me to a clinic and paid for the treatment. Another time, a dog bit me in my own garden as I protected my dog from an attack. Went to the local hospital and the treatment cost 350.
  10. Okay. Yes, I've heard of Ryanair. But I don't know why you mentioned them when, as far as I know, they don't offer free accommodation like VietJet did. Ryanair are totally irrelevant to this thread.
  11. Haven't read that word for decades. The author trying to be clever I suppose. And failing.
  12. Exactly. Why not just walk away? You have to wonder about someone who chooses instead to hack someone to death.
  13. Someone needs to tell Nong Khai Man ????
  14. I've never heard of Ryanair provided free accommodation. Have you?
  15. Always someone else's fault. But.... Thai VietJet Air claims that it took good care of the stranded passengers by providing them with food and accommodation. First time I've ever heard of a budget airline doing that.
  16. They learn it at uni with the illegal but ignored hazing rituals. What it comes down to is that humans really don't like fellow humans very much, anywhere. Schoolyard bullying, not wanting someone sitting next to you on a bus or train, people seeking solitude on holiday or elsewhere. We're a strange species.
  17. I think you'll find that the US banned THAI as their maintenance doesn't meet US standards.
  18. Perfectly normal in Thailand. If it doesn't directly concern them then they aren't interested.
  19. A good friend of mine who lived in a gated community with security at the entrance had his house broken into, and they found the keys to his SUV so took that too. The same day, the security guard disappeared. The police refused to investigate unless he paid them 100,000. Soon after, he quit Thailand and moved back to Australia and his Thai wife was all too happy to leave with him. My brother-in-law is a policeman and I asked my wife what he actually does. She has no idea.
  20. Why? Because no-one cares. Quite often the plates can't be read anyway or are non-existent. No-one in Thailand cares about anything if it doesn't directly concern them. It's their culture.
  21. Mostly the supermarkets, but vegetables in the market. I don't trust the questionable hygiene of buying meat in the market. But it doesn't matter where I buy - prices are up by far more than the reported few %.
  22. That seems perfectly logical to me. You simply can't choose some items and not others, otherwise you obviously get a distorted picture. The fact that it might be impractical doesn't change that at all. So we'll just have to differ on that.
  23. Choosing some items and not others to base inflation on is completely pointless. ie Milk has gone up 3% and we'll include that. Pork has gone up 50% but we'll ignore that. Ridiculous. Even if that's the way it's done in every country.
  24. I'm not in Bangkok. Moved from there years ago, but didn't change my moniker. I'm in Kalasin. I have no idea where the near monopoly Lotus's and Big C source from. But in my area prices of pork and chicken rose this year by at the very least 50%. My potatoes increased from 28 to, currently, 49 and rising. As I've said elsewhere on this thread, choosing some items and not others to base inflation on is completely pointless. ie Milk has gone up 3% and we'll include that. Pork has gone up 50% but we'll ignore that. Ridiculous.
