  1. Used to be around 60, depending on what part you buy. One item that has gone up enormously is the carcass, which we buy and deep fry for the dogs. I have no idea what Thais use them for. Was 18 per kilo and now around 32. Pork leapt in price around six months ago, reportedly because much of the stock was sold to China as their livestock was decimated by some disease or other, and what goes up rarely comes down.
  2. The list includes pork and chicken. But those prices have already increased by up to 100% in recent months.
  3. So in March the price was 318, and in September it will be 408. Cleverer people than me will be able to work out the percentage increase, but it's in line with huge increases of other things needed for everyday life in Thailand - like food. In the Real World prices rise by 2-3% (not including the current energy prices in some countries). In Thailand it's often 10 or 20x that.
  4. Exactly. Just another example of the government policy of removing Thailand from the tourist market. I know of three people who will not be coming here as long as the wearing of masks outdoors is demanded. It's beyond ridiculous.
  5. It's CONTROL. nothing else. No real purpose to it otherwise.
  6. Nobody in Thailand really cares about anything. Apathy Central, be it hanging wires that kill, doing a that'll do job instead of doing it properly as they have no pride in what they do, safety of kids riding to school in unsafe vehicles or on motorbikes they are too young and weak to be able to properly control, the police of course the ringleaders of not doing anything about anything except making sure no-one has a beer in their hand at one minute past midnight.
  7. I haven't had to put a form in at all at the Kalasin branch for the last two years. Now I have to. Things change at the whim of the office or officer. But, as I said, no big deal. That isn't why I began the thread.
  8. There's at least one report of the IO refusing a photocopy and demanding it be filled in on a new form in blue ink. As I said, every office, every officer, makes up their own rules. I hope you haven't wasted 100 baht on those copies ????
  9. I can fully understand why many prefer on-line as it's a hassle to go to an office. Before Kalasin opened I'd have needed the best part of a day to attend Sakon Nakhon. Now, it's much less than an hour from me and I combine it with a shopping trip. I prefer the personal approach too and we sometimes donate mangos or limes to the IO as a pr exercise. I don't roam far from home these days, so not being in the area when my report is due is never a problem either.
  10. Who's whining? You appear to lack comprehension skills. If you read my post above yours I wrote that it's no big deal. I just asked if the form was new. Which, because of more intelligent responses than yours, I've learned that it isn't, except at the Kalasin office.
  11. Possibly. All I've had to do, and was expected to do, was hand over my passport and after a few minutes of typing it was handed back with the new whatever (I never remove what they staple into the passport to see what it is) with my next report date on it. Which, now and then, is a Sunday as checking the calendar first is a step too far.
  12. I've read of far too many problems with doing it on-line with, even today, a post saying it shows him as on overstay. It takes me five minutes to do it in person with 100% no-hassle guarantee and with no electronic 'misunderstanding'. As to the form, okay, it's been around for many years and is - yet again - an example of each immigration office following their own rules. Until now, Kalasin has not needed it, and now - suddenly and who knows why - they do. No big deal to spend two minutes every three months filling it in. I just wondered if it was new. The answer is no and yes. So wonderfully Thai. Not new in some offices, new in others.
  13. So adult movie stars are prostitutes? Which is what you're implying. Otherwise, I can't see a link between the two professions.
  14. That's Thailand. Image is everything. Ask everyone if they know of anyone who has been stopped from entering a store or building as they are 'over the limit' and I know what the answer would be. It's all for show.
  15. I'd like to know how they calculate the inflation rate. On the food items I buy - pork, chicken and potatoes - the increase over the past few months has been between 60 and 120%.
  16. I always do my 90 day reporting in person at Kalasin as it's convenient for shopping afterwards, and today I was asked for the first time to complete a new form, TM 47 (below). Is this a totally new requirement or has the same info previously been asked for in on-line reporting? I guess, instead of removing the pointless demand to report as if you are on probation, they've added an extra (minor) hassle.
  17. It appears that non-Thais are being locked out of using KrungThai Bank ATMs. Their machines now have a large sticker showing a Thai ID card being inserted, and when my wife tried to use my Bangkok Bank card in it today (no Bangkok Bank ATM available) she received a message saying the card could not be used on that machine. That was not the case a few days ago. Has anyone else experienced this? And wasn't/isn't there a similar problem with non-Thais not being able to pay bills at 7-11 and other places because a Thai ID number is needed?
