I don't actually understand why the Chinese come to Thailand, their own country has much more to see.
You need to see the bigger long term picture; Tibet being an example.

a lively country full of action, girls galore, cheap booz, good weather and easy life
Exactly what I came for--especially the easy life, been here 29 years. It's not the same as when I first came but still better than where I came from.

5555555! That's funny! How many times has this been attempted with little or no results?!

As others have said, pretty outrageous. A week ago I shipped an 8lb box from the middle of US to Chonburi and it cost around $97 USD...........helping out the USPS with their debt.

To avoid this, I am forced to use [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] tags.......
Yes, I do the same so people will understand. Kind of takes away from the original sarcasm but clears things up so you don't get the stupid responses. I think a lot of it is the different nationalities involved on this forum. I worked with a multi national crew in my work and noticed certain nationalities get each others sarcasm, others, not so much.

I applaud the guy for taking this all the way, but can't see much coming out of it; possibly the hospital will give him a fruit basket and a "wai".

Huge mistake letting this happen. Look what happened to Tibet.

Those houses/cars came must have come from his savvy investing strategy. Good to see someone so young that is planning for his future.
Settle down readers, I'm being sarcastic.

"The primary purpose of an embassy is to assist American citizens who travel to or live in the host country."
The above is from a US govt state diplomacy website; "primary purpose" being the operative phrase.
I've never had very good luck dealing with the US embassy in Bangkok (US citizen services). My opinion is; the US embassy in Bangkok's primary purpose is to give out visas to Thai citizens, Americans are secondary on their list. I live in Thailand full time and still pay US tax also, so am sympathetic to your situation.
They seem to have forgotten where their salaries come from.

And Thailand's vaccination number is what(?)...................hmmmm
-
Funny how the sinovac/sinopharm vaccines were so readily available.................gotta wonder who's influencing the decisions on what vaccines to make available.
Well, OK, it's not that hard to figure it out, pretty simple really!

they'll be given to the hisos not satisfied with their double AZ jab
Exactly right! And not just "hisos"; my wife confirmed one of her friends that has a husband who's high up in the Thai navy--who already got the AZ vaccine previously, has signed up himself and his family for the Pfizer. The general public will be left out on the streets--literally, to fend for themselves.

As I've said before; "be careful who you get into bed with", Sihanoukville, Cambodia comes to mind.
-
And you probably won't get your deposit back; how do I know you might ask, experience with Thai owners. Good luck.
-
Just my opinion, but highly unlikely. My wife was denied the first time she applied at the US embassy Bangkok--a female officer denied her after 2 minutes of talking. We were married for 8 years at the time of applying and had our marriage registered at the embassy--didn't seem to help.
Next year she took the exact same documents, talked to a male officer, and was given the visa, go figure. Maybe that time of the month for the female officer, maybe doesn't like Thai women, could be a long list of reasons. As others have said; the applicant needs to show some reason they'll return to Thailand, but no "definitive list" of what that is.

Hmmm, a lot of guys on ThaiVisa seem to have married Thai ladies with PhDs.
Yes, I've noticed that also; I never knew that there were so many Thai women with PhD's! Maybe all those McDonalds managers, since you need a BSc just to serve burgers! 555
Just to be clear my Thai wife doesn't have a PhD--or any formal education for that matter, but I'm perfectly happy with her and have been together 28 years. Never understood why some people have to embellish things to justify their lives to other people.

A high bid is still cheaper than your life. I'd gladly pay more for a qualified electrician that I knew I could trust. Qualified and trust being the operative words.

It can be sent to any Thai bank after changing to International Direct Deposit.
It will be transferred in Baht by the US treasury and will go through the Bank Of Thailand before going to account.
Enrollment form is here. https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-1199-op107.pdf
Thanks ubonjoe!

A little off subject; will SSA send to any bank in Thailand or only Bangkok bank?

What about years ago when there weren't droves of Chinese coming(?); Thailand seemed to be doing alright then. Guess the govt has gotten addicted to the Chinese yuan since then.
