  1. I am sure you would agree that regardless of the skills aspect motorbikes are a lot more dangerous and in the event of an accident would cause more serious harm.
  2. Someone reacted with a Sad emoji and I am wondering if what he/she was sad about was the respectful part, or that I disagree. Being that I dont want to make anyone sad , I am there for changing by reply to "Hell yea I agree" sorry to have caused you such discomfort
  3. There is alot to complain about Thai driving and roads, but this thread is not about that, it is about road racing accidents. And my particular exchange that this is not a Thai phenomenon, and that road racing is as much a problem in the west as it is in Thailand, perhaps even more so. So the post that claims that this occurred because of Thais inability to understand the automobile is fundamentally wrong. If you like I can post many such recent incidents in the US. Now as it pertains to Thai drivers being the worst drivers in the world, I would say that then you have not been many places in the world. We spend a considerable tim traveling to Greece and Italy every summer, we are going there again this August and I will tell you, compared to drivers there, Thais are angels. my Thai wife refuses to drive there. I alway rented an automatic car so my wife could drive it also, this year since she never drives I have reserved a stick shift Citroen C3 and have some fun. I know you can site the road accidents in thailand as it relates to the world, but statistics can be misleading. Thailand has the most motorbikes in the world , remove the motorbike accidents percentage , and the picture changes considerably. Below is the most recent statistics I could find.: "According to the World Health Organization's Global Status Report on Road Safety 2018, motorcycles were involved in approximately 70% of total road traffic fatalities in Thailand. This indicates that the majority of fatal road accidents in the country involved motorcycles " If you want to review the report: https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789241565684 Anyway. that's my opinion . If you feel differently please provide me contradicting evidence and I would be happy to reconsider.
  4. I thought so. Isn't funny how you conveniently chose to ignore the rest of my reply which along with links proved you wrong?
  5. That would definitely be a good revenue stream ideal. I wonder how much a "a super duper member in bold gold letter would cost? I always wanted one of those.
  6. I am afraid that to advance from "Apprentice" to advanced you must go through the secret initiation where you will be given the secret handshake we all use when we see each other in the street. For that please submite a formal application to me via PM where I will give you instruction where to forward the initiation fee 0f $12.99 plush shipping and handling.
  7. That answers the what not the who IMO, and I could be wrong "Them " in the " The horseless carriage is beyond the comprehension of many of them!" is a reference to Thais . In fact the reply asked me "Who were racing the cars? " as an answer to who was "them" Now you could say that when he said "Them" he meant kids., but then why not say kids instead of them? Lunatics? Certainly! But definitely no just a Thai condition , in fact six days ago 3 teenagers were killed at a road-racing accident in Tennessee. https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/2023/06/18/3-teens-killed-in-single-car-crash-fleeing-street-race-in-nashville-police-say/70334332007/ In another article: "Illegal street racing has reportedly surged ever since Covid-19 hit the US in earnest last spring, with officials reporting increases in states such as Georgia, New York, New Mexico and Oregon, among others, officials said. and that these competitive motorists have killed several unsuspecting drivers. " https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/may/13/us-deadly-street-racing-surge-pandemic I can go on and on, but the point is that this is not a Thai thing but something that some young people do, all around the world.
  8. True, but but education only does not explained it, plenty of uneducated people that are not stupid. IMO trump exposed the true state of intelligence in the US and probably the world, he was a nationwide IQ test. Now the cat is out of the bag, the envelope of what politicians can get away with has expanded. Trump will not be the last to use the playbook. And a new term will be created trumpian. I don't get it ! I have met many of these trump supporters, and if they met anyone that talked and acted like that they would not give him the time of the day, they would think him an a-Hole ,never mind support him for the presidency of the country they love. The man sounds like a cartoon character.
  9. Mike Pence is not doing very well and sounds to me like he is trying to create some press. If I was an opponent I would answer it by proposing a 15 week ban on Mike Pence. If he does not raise his polls to double digits in 15 weeks he drop out.
  10. How stupid of me to ask such question to an AI that searches all information to it, whe I could have asked some senile octogenarian with one foot on the grave and another on a banana peel. . The information is good, and my advice to the OP to ; "Have you spoken to the landlord? He/She sounds like a reasonable person I am sure you can both come to a reasonable solution. " even better
  11. Chat GPT . When asked "My house has rats. Whose responsibility is it in Thailand? The tenant or the landlord? " It replied: "In Thailand, it is generally the landlord's responsibility to take care of any pest control issues, including rats. This would be outlined in the rental agreement between the tenant and the landlord. It is recommended that you notify your landlord immediately about the rat problem and request their assistance in resolving the issue. "

  13. This is the most important thing to know as it pertains to how much you should pay. And the first thing to ask. After that , electricity and water, road access, proximity to town etc. The type of Chanote will have the biggest affects in it's value. So: In Thailand, there are several types of land deeds (also referred to as Chanote), including: 1. Chanote (Nor Sor 4) - This is the most secure and reliable type of land deed in Thailand. It provides the owner with full legal ownership rights and protection under Thai law. 2. Nor Sor 3 Gor - This is a land title that is issued based on an aerial survey and is not as reliable as a Chanote. However, it is still a legal and valid title and can be upgraded to a Chanote. 3. Nor Sor 3 - This type of land title is issued without an aerial survey and is subject to more disputes and claims than a Chanote or Nor Sor 3 Gor. 4. Sor Kor Nung - This is a possession certificate that is obtained by occupying land for a certain period. It does not provide full ownership rights, but it can be upgraded to a Nor Sor 3 or Chanote. 5. Tor Bor Tor Ha - This is a temporary use permit and is often used for government land or public property. It does not provide full ownership rights, but it does allow for the use of the land for a specified period.
  14. Uncertainty is the biggest enemy of investment. Thailand needs to stop all this nonsense and commit to a stable political system. How can international businesses make capital investments when they don't know what the environment will be is a year or two?
  15. I just did it a few months ago in Khon Kaen. In our case , two immigration officers came to our house. We needed two neighbors with their ID card, acting as witnesses . It was a very pleasant experience, the IOs were very nice and polite, we had a couple of sodas, took a couple of pictures outside the house showing the house address and that was it. Nothing to worry about.
  16. Depending on the car, 100k is not a lot now days.
  17. Two years ago I bought a new car, and traded my older car at the dealer. I don't know if all dealers do but mine did. What they do is that they have a network of used car dealers that they work with, Of course you will not get as much as if you sold it yourself, but who wants to bother with that?
  18. Always good to have another option, before we condemn it let's see how it develops. Toyota employs a lot of very smart people and they seem to think it makes enough sense to bet the future of the company on it, Do all the naysayers in this forum think they are smarter than them or know more about the issue? Don't you think they thought about all the objections you have? Personally from what I know, think EVs is a better option, at least for the near future. The infustracture for hydrogen does not exist, where there is electricity in everyone's house. Combine that with a couple solar cells and an inverter and you can charge your car at home for free. If I had not bought a new car two years ago , and would take a bath if I traded it now, I would buy an electric car tomorrow. Developing a Hydrogen infustracture, unless it is done at the goverment level . would need enough hydrogen cars on the road to make the investment profitable, and to sell enough hydrogen cars you would need a hydrogen infustracture. You see the problem. So let's see how it plays out, but very exciting nonetheless.
  19. Never claimed that anyone stop me from voicing my opinion. It was a joke, where is your farmhouse british humor? Of course they were not MPs but I would think they would have some influence in their party. And as far as I know were active proponents in the brexit movement. I should not have named specific people because I knew people would try to hang their hat on that, it is a common debating techniques and I should know better . My Bad, So then lets just say then the conservatives were incompetent then.
  20. First let me say that as an American I am not well versed in British politics, but why should that stop me from having a strong opinion.???? I ment their side being incompetent. And them personally by having a hand in choosing those who did the actual negotiating.
