Have them call the Thai embassy and get an emergency travel document that would allow them to travel with an expired Thai passport. My wife did exactly that when we were in the US and she needed to come to Thailand but did not have time to renew her Thai passport. The emergency Document was very easy to get. if I remember correctly it only took a couple of days after we send them I think a copy of the Thai ID card and Passport. She quickly renew her passport when we got to Thailand.

New passport while on visa exempt
sirineou replied to BKKTRAVELER's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Isn't that what I also said? -
There are forces in Thailand that desire to reverse recent laws liberalizing cannabis use and growth and wukk use any excuse to demonize its use. The man was on methamphetamines and the blame pot? I know little about pot , methamphetamine or the combination of the two, but I believe that pot has a calming effect .

Over 9.3 million people cleared from police criminal record files
sirineou replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
1.3 in 7, but they don't need to worry about the the .3 criminal because he only causes 1/3 the normal per person criminal activity. If they could purge the remaining 57 million records they could then announce that Thailand is totally crime free. -
I think you should leave it as is, It would cut your typing work load in half.

Pattaya Police Pledge to be an Organization the Public Can Trust
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
And I pledge that I will never do anything unlawful, so the police should no longer stop me at those check point, I will even print my pledge and paste it on my windshield to help expedite matters, In Fact I think they should have an express lane for all those who have taken the pledge. Next time I am at a police check point I will suggest it. Just remember, next time you see one of these express lanes, you have me to thank for. -
Do you think the same level of danger exists for cars as it does for motorbikes ??? I hope we can agree that motorbike are a lot more dangerous, would you not agree???? Then would not think it reasonable to think that the accident rate in a country that has a lot more dangerous vehicles would be higher not because the drivers are bad, tough I am sure they also have a part to play like any country in the world , but because the coefficient of danger is higher.? PS: "The chances of a fatality in a motorcycle accident are approximately 30 times higher than in a car. Motorcycle accidents have a staggering 80% injury or death rate, while car accidents remain around 20%" https://www.jdpower.com/motorcycles/shopping-guides/motorcycle-vs-car-accident-statistics

New passport while on visa exempt
sirineou replied to BKKTRAVELER's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would check with your IO if I was you, One time I did and extension which is for a year, but my passport only had 8 months remaining, so I thought , no problem I will go and have the stamp transfered to my new passport. Guess what ? No can do!! the visa expires with the passport. I know my situation was a bit different than yours. Bu I would not take a chance if I was you. -
So after thinking about it and to be fair ,I did a bit more research in the subject Question: what percentage of road accidents in Thailand are caused by motorbikes? Answer:According to the World Health Organization, motorcycles account for approximately 74% of all road traffic accidents in Thailand. This makes them the most common type of vehicle involved in accidents. If you don't believe me, chat GPT is up there. Go ahead and ask it the same questions. Sorry about the comedy routine on my previous answer , I just could not resist. But you did insinuate that I was intellectually dishonest and had an agenda.

My agenda? What agenda is that? Perhaps it is the same as the BBC's agenda? " (According to the BBC, there are up to 20 million registered motorbikes in the country and a million more that are unregistered. Thailand also has the highest motorbike accident deaths in the world with an average of 5,000 motorcyclist deaths recorded annually.) https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/countries-that-ride-motorbikes.html " Perhaps you are right and I unknowingly have conspired with the BBC , so on the top of this forum page, third link from the left, there is a link to Chat GPT, you know that AI the whole world has been talking about. So I asked GPT: "does thailand have the highest motorbike accident rate " Because , you know, I might be wrong and unowly have an agenda. This is what the AI (artificial intelligence) said: "Yes, Thailand has one of the highest motorbike accident rates in the world, with an average of more than 70 deaths per day on the road, and a large percentage of those deaths being motorbike riders. According to the World Health Organization, Thailand has the second highest death rate from road accidents among ASEAN countries after Vietnam. This is due to a variety of factors such as poor road infrastructure, lack of traffic regulations and enforcement, and reckless driving habits. It is important to be cautious and take proper safety measures when operating a motorbike in Thailand or any other country with high accident rates. " But you might say "well the AI has a adenda also " and I agree it certainly does, but it's agenda is to exterminate human kind, have you not seen the movie? How would warning us that motorbikes are dangerous and could kill us all help it's agenda? One would think that it would say " don't worry motorbikes are perfectly fine , very few people riding the die, you all go and ride motorbikes , " Hehehehe. stupid humans.

COVID infections falling steadily, fewer fatalities over past month
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not worth arguing with antivaxxers and octogenarians who are worried the vaccine will make them sterile. I Have no problem with turning int a lizard person, I think it would be interesting. and if the goverment wants to track me all they have to do is ping my phone. All I want to know is where I can get the booster in Khon Kaen Area. It was offered at an Area Hospital last wednesday , but I got ill a couple of days before and thought it would be a good idea to wait until I feel better in case I have a reaction, Now they no longer have it. Anyway, if anyone knows where I can have it within the next couple of weeks, I would appreciate it. -
Ok so you already made the assumption, that she moved because , X Y or Z , but you don't really know why, do you? Perhaps you need to bathe more? Sorry I could not resist. It has never happened to me .But I bathe often???? But there could had been many reasons why the above happened, other than they got up because they don't like you. It is possible that because of how you feel, you ascribe negative connotations. You see things in a negative fashion. Perhaps you are depressed. No disrespect intended , but depresion colors your world dark. It is a condition we all deal with from time to time ..So perhaps something to consider. But even paranoids have real enemies So then again, there are Thai aholes also, no need to paint all Thais with the same brush. I notice that when go some place with my wife, Thais interact with my wife rather than with me, that's not because they dont like me,(they dont know me) but some of them are shy, and others had negative interactions with other farangs and rathe not having to deal with you. But don't discount the body odor hypothesis ???? Yes you should. As much as you might want to , you cant control how others are, But you can control how you are.You do the right thing and stop worrying about other people. My advise is : People find whatever they are looking for. If you are looking for negativity, trust me! that's all you will find. There will always be negativity. you cant escape from it, all you can do is ignore, perhapse compensate for it, but don't let it color your world. Read this again, and then print this and hung it on a wall where you will see it every day. When you meet someone be gregarious . Again remember people like , people that like them, But also remember , you can not make everyone like you. Imposible!! Change that attitude. You are not stuck here!! you are lucky to be here!! do you know how many people would give the right arm to be where you are? -------------- I apologies for my previous terse replies, I also failed to take my own advice But to my defence, ir is a long OP and I am lazy. ,Almost 20 years here (few problems) , and it grinds my gears when people try to belittle Thais, I thought this was some of that ,and I was a bit terse . Good luck
-
I did not, but I don't think I have to. I don't know what happened while drinking your coffee , but I am willing to bet that it did not occur in a vacuum and is a part of of a wider interaction complex. Or perhaps you you are right and you are involved with bad people. There good and bad in every culture. But you did say, "Thais" which leads me to believe that it is a a problem you have with Thais in general and not with the people at the table . So I will go and read the rest of your OP and perhaps I am wrong, in which case I will apologise.
-
Sure , they are human and are motivated by the same human complexes . if asked,I would give them the same as to the Op. And there it is! They don't feel inferior to you , they resent you superiority complex. Are you trolling me? to try and get a rise out of me? because you can't be serious oh great white hunter. ????

Why Pheu Thai’s thinking is democratically wrong
sirineou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A poorly written article difficult to understand exactly what he was saying , but his is what I got. Sour grapes. They won, you lost . Get over it. If you had won would you be sharing power with the looser? Try and work with the winners for a better future for Thailand ,. -
First . I am 66 years old and I did not want to spend what little life I have left reading this long op dietribe . So from what little I have read i would say. It's not that you think that Thais are so bad, but that you think that you are sooo much better. Simply an attempt to, than rather invest in making yourself better, trying to make everyone else seem worst. This attitude manifests in subtle ways in everything you say and do , and regardless what you think Thais are not stupid. . They can sense your attitude, and behave accordingly. People don't like people that dont like them. That is true for them, is true for you and it's true for me. Change you attitude, and change your perspective ,Climb a hill and you will see the forest from the trees. Chock dee

Perhaps but that's arguable. Notice I back up my argument with quotes and links, but all I get is unsubstantiated opinion. I am not saying that such opinion is incorrect, but I am saying that is anecdotal. The point that I make is that when adjusted for variables unique to Thailand (According to the BBC, there are up to 20 million registered motorbikes in the country and a million more that are unregistered. Thailand also has the highest motorbike accident deaths in the world with an average of 5,000 motorcyclist deaths recorded annually.) https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/countries-that-ride-motorbikes.html Second motorbike ownership is Vietnam, with a much larger population, but lower number of motorbikes. Then we have the poor infustracture, and lax traffic regulations, and other contributory factors. Adjusted for that , then Thailand's road accidents are on par with most of the world. with less motorbikes , better road infustracture and strict traffic law enforcement. Unless one disputes the above, then one has to conclude what culpability assigned to the Thai driver should also be on par, regardless if it's the highest rated factor or the lowest. because if it is in thailand, then it is also in other parts of the world. So in conclusion the road racing accident can not be solely attributed to the skills of the Thai I rest my case
-
Of course I would agree, there are a lot of factors invo;ved. Another factor would be road conditions. In the US and come countries in Europe I have been at, most Highways are isolated , there is an entrance to enter, and an exit to depart, and nothing else in-between Here in Thailand most highways I have been in are lined with vendors selling things , people and dogs crossing etc. , And I am sure there other factors contributing that we have not thought of. perhaps you can think of one. The point is that we can not just blame the Thai driver. , A) conditions are not as bad as statistics might suggest, and B) what ever the true statistical ranking, we can not lay all of it at the Thai driver's feet. there are many factors and the driver is only one of them
-
There is alot to complain about Thai driving and roads, but this thread is not about that, it is about road racing accidents. And my particular exchange that this is not a Thai phenomenon, and that road racing is as much a problem in the west as it is in Thailand, perhaps even more so. So the post that claims that this occurred because of Thais inability to understand the automobile is fundamentally wrong. If you like I can post many such recent incidents in the US. Now as it pertains to Thai drivers being the worst drivers in the world, I would say that then you have not been many places in the world. We spend a considerable tim traveling to Greece and Italy every summer, we are going there again this August and I will tell you, compared to drivers there, Thais are angels. my Thai wife refuses to drive there. I alway rented an automatic car so my wife could drive it also, this year since she never drives I have reserved a stick shift Citroen C3 and have some fun. I know you can site the road accidents in thailand as it relates to the world, but statistics can be misleading. Thailand has the most motorbikes in the world , remove the motorbike accidents percentage , and the picture changes considerably. Below is the most recent statistics I could find.: "According to the World Health Organization's Global Status Report on Road Safety 2018, motorcycles were involved in approximately 70% of total road traffic fatalities in Thailand. This indicates that the majority of fatal road accidents in the country involved motorcycles " If you want to review the report: https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789241565684 Anyway. that's my opinion . If you feel differently please provide me contradicting evidence and I would be happy to reconsider.
