  1. I'm guessing they are female to male transgender. Usually, when they speak of transgender monks in Thailand it tends to be more like this:
  2. One radical difference this year in Bangkok is the police are now requiring your details on the TM30 to be instantly updated after you receive an extension/change to visa. So the day you get an extension/change, the person dealing with the TM30 should be sent a photocopy/scan of your passport extension to send the details. You can then ask them to take a screenshot of the current data on you that they inputted on the system. The data states your immigration status (e.g. NON-B) and the date of expiry. You should ensure it's correct. Sloppy errors are common when the matter is unimportant to the inputter. The police are clearly increasingly relying on these details. Just a few years back, they didn't care so long as they knew where you were.
  3. Most of the diet recommendations on this thread fail to grasp the reason why dieting generally does not work. You have to have a system of losing weight which is effortless. If it is difficult or a struggle there is a very high chance that you will give up and/or return to your previous weight. Your absolute priority is to stop the hunger or desire for food. And we now know how to do this. Cut out sugar or anything that spikes your insulin levels from your diet outside of a 4-6 hour eating window. Eat anything you want during that eating window, but outside it severely restrict yourself to only tea/ coffee with no milk and no sugar/water/ginger tea. It sounds like torture but in fact since all your hunger pangs will go it will just feel normal after a couple of weeks. You'll have no desire to eat more. You then start to gain large amounts of energy, and then you'll feel the desire to run or walk long distances.
  4. There are huge numbers of academic papers on the subject. It's not an obscure topic to research so I am baffled at your request. Are you familiar with 'Google Scholar'? One meta-study on there found 620 other papers on the topic. Did you miss all of them? If you're trying to initiate an argument on the topic then I would point you towards the need for a literature review on an area to make your decision as to the scientific consensus; a mere one paper should never be enough. You certainly shouldn't be arguing out on a random forum. Of course, if you simply want a credible pop-science book on this then:
  5. And that's why it must be restricted to adults only. There should also be warnings against anyone with past experiences of manic or psychotic episodes, And anyone with a family history of those types of severe mental illnesses should be warned against trying it. Obviously the State always has a paternal role to play but ultimately it should not limit the fruits of nature because of the foolish behaviour of a few. By way of contrast, the dangerous risk of schizophrenia is greater in marijuana, but it inflicts people who could never have predicted they may be vulnerable to it. It is a lottery. This is a day and night difference.
  6. It's bewildering that such a harmless drug with benefits increasingly recognised in medical research remains illegal. In contrast, marijuana, long accepted as an inducer of schizophrenia in genetically vulnerable young males, is treated as a convenience store snack.
  7. I eat one meal a day unless engaged in strenuous activity, or a one day off per every 10 days. Outside of the 4 hour eating time window, I'll avoid any drinks with sugar or milk, or anything which jumps my insulin levels (many sugar alternatives do this. Monk Fruit, made in Thailand, is a rare alternative which is probably ok, but I still don't take it). Effectively, this limits me to coffee, teas of various sorts, ginger tea with cinnamon or nutmeg. It works. I have a BMI around 22. If you do this, you'll not feel hungry as your body will rapidly adjust. You'll feel a lot more energetic, feel ill less often and want to exercise more.
  8. Entertainment Complex Bill If approved it will become an Act. That could be a long time away.
  9. Please don't clog this thread with a 90-day report which faced no issues, expected no issues and went well without incident. There are, of course, every week, tens of thousands of reports that are successful without problem. We all know this. The thread is to deal with and be aware of new emerging issues that have arisen over the years. When I discovered the new rule that reports must be done in person after travel abroad, many people didn't see my report because this thread was cluttered with "trip reports" like yours. Please be respectful of the function of the thread. If you have any doubts, go back three years to the enormous problems during COVID, and the information leaks.
  10. The Pepto Bismol tablets are great for lining your stomachs and preventing food poisoning. I used in India and didn't fall ill at all. I took (an excessive) 6-a-day. But this would be dangerous if done in the long run. For Thailand, any sign of nausea then I will immediately take one Pepto tablet, although the liquid version is is to be preferred if you already feel ill. This is about once every 4 weeks. I found this cuts my rates of involuntary toilet events by 90%. The nausea resolves rapidly after popping a Pepto, and diarrhoea is rare now.
  11. No. Both issues are relevant. Pit Bulls have very high rates of aggression, despite an odd club of cheerleading proponents defending their reputations. It's important to pushback against their nonsense. It's also important to draw attention to the endless growth of feral dogs in Bangkok. Mahidol estimates 0.5% have rabies and those which bite must have a higher chance. Having now been bitten 4 times, I want to see some focus on this issue.
  12. Learn Thai Chess (makruk) and play it online. Or, for that matter, Chinese Chess or Cambodian Chess, or how about Shogi? You can buy electronic boards (like the Chessnut Go or Chessnut Evo) that link up with an online chess game and can show you moves or recommend moves with LCD lights on the board. This is great if you don't want to stare at a computer screen.
  13. I am almost certain it used to be starred as mandatory. This is so strange for them to actively make an error. I wonder how long until they notice...
  14. My TM47 life... •Rejected late last year because new passport (immigration haven't linked the desk that deals with new passports with the TM47 encounter). •Rejected earlier this year because of the new rule requiring everyone who has returned from abroad to do their first 90 days in person •Rejected again this week. Let's take a look: The online application visa expiry date is not mandatory (there is no red star next to it), so I didn't fill it in. Is it that because I extended my stay by a year last month they want the new date? But why? If they don't know then are they simply trusting me? Why is Immigration asking me what Immigration has done? Why don't they walk across to the desk in the same room and check with them. How will it assist them to have this non-mandatory piece of information? If they do already know, then why ask me except as some kind of game? Or is this a new rule that for a new extension you have to turn up in person? This is beyond ridiculous. Let's recap: • new passport. Must attend in person. •Return from quick trip abroad. Must attend in person. •Annual extension. Must attend in person?
  15. That is good. That's interesting as they claim to have merely 2000+ ETFs (WeBull claims 15,000+). They are available for Thai residents although I'm put off by the 25,000 dollar minimum. I prefer to test before I invest. I wonder where the brokerage is itself legally based in the case of Thai resident applicants (the fact they mention the 25,000 amount in dollars suggests in the USA). If it's in a 1st tier finance place that's great, but having large sums in Thailand (3rd tier) is not ideal. I prefer large amounts to be planted in Singapore or Hong Kong (the usual places for brokerages that target expats here). Anyway, great info!
  16. I'm searching for a brokerage for Thai residents that gets access to the widest variety of American ETFs for a non-American & non-Thai, and that can be opened in Thailand. The list of ETFs available for each brokerages are only visible once you've already gone through the tedious registration and proof of ID and residence process. I've done this with a few in the past and I just can't find what I'm looking for. Obviously they have the big ETFs but other ETFs are more useful to me by their nuanced contrarian cycles etc. Here are some of the amusingly themed ETFs I'd like to see on those lists: NANC, KRUZ (Democrat and Republican themes respectively!), BOIL, KOLD, YINN, YANG, YALL, MAGA, BUZZ, GURU, HACK, SARK, DRLL. I suspect the SARK is least likely to make any brokerage list. I thought I had finally struck gold with 'WeBull Thailand' but they are still currently restricted to Thais only. But frustratingly, they didn't tell me this until I went through the whole process... Could you quickly open your Apps of your brokerages and see if any of those ETFs pop up. If they do that indicates your brokerage has a fine selection of ETFs. Let me know please. Thanks!
  17. Another website is running this story... Although it is worth noting that they are relying on the OP's website only as a source. I am unconvinced this is a permanent measure.
  18. The UK 'Trendy Building' office had a letter stuck on the wall next to all application booths addressed to "To whom it may concern" stating that the British government no longer provide such letters. I recall taking a photo but never needing it.
  19. The irony is that the people who tend to fall for these scams are exactly the people who think they would never fall for these scams. Since they are so over-cocky in their ability to spot scams they fail then to actually spot the scams. The very best victims of scams are scammers themselves.
  20. The issues are: 1. Want account in Pound Sterling (perhaps to avoid currency fluctuation losses) 2. Needs to be on Swift network and the local network (Bacs and CHAPS) for easy transfers to continue business within the UK (many UK government branches insist on UK bank accounts) 3. Needs to guarantee security of funds (this rules out non-banks such as Wise, except Building Societies) As an expat, the rule for most of your investments and money is the famous A-B-C rule. Where you live is A, where you come from is B and where your money is should be C. C is a third place with a top tier finance structure, such as Hong Kong or Singapore. Only a small reserve should be in A or B. (This rule is obviously subject to legal, tax and accountancy issues). I know that it is now impossible--- assuming you don't want to commit fraud-- to open a new bank account in the UK whilst resident in Thailand. It was possible as late as 2016 to open some very niche bank accounts such as ones at Indian banks in London. I see talk on this thread about domicile status but that is surely not relevant for maintaining bank accounts (although it'll be important for inheritance tax purposes). Surely, residence is everything. So if you get pushed out, perhaps Standard Bank is the best option: in Sterling, low minimum requirement. Any thoughts? Am I missing anything, getting anything wrong?
  21. Yep. I remember considering this issue a couple of years back and I figured after some research that Standard Bank would be the best option.
  22. The policy was changed earlier this year. If you go several pages back you will find lots of discussion of this. It has been confirmed by the immigration staff directly to me.
  23. Right. I read an article A few months back on all the typical safety mechanisms. Reassuringly two of the safety mechanisms were not electronically dependant. In addition to the counterweight that you mentioned, the sheer air resistance in such a tight space would have dramatically slowed the lift down as it reached the ground and it would have just plopped to the bottom. Although terrifying almost certainly it would not be causing any injuries. In any event, there are typically giant springs at the bottom for the lift to bounce on.
  24. George, I was baffled. I could't see any RSS icon or anything else. The bottom of the forum and any forum or even the home page looks like this: But I forced my mobile into desktop mode and found it. Thanks!
  25. I'm confused. Does anyone have the feed location? The App I use can't detect any feed but if I have its precise address then that should help.
