  1. davidst01, you should first say where you stay in Pattaya. wink.png

School is a place you will go several times a week and it's very convenient to have one near or easy-accessed from your home.

Then you should look for ED-visa schools in this area. They are far cheaper and many are good ones smile.png .Most will accept you for a trial so that you can see how they teach and if you like the way and place. A good thing with ED-Visa school is they usually have course for 8 or 12 students, but as many people only want the visa you often have no more than 3 or 4 students in class, and that is a very good thing to learn. smile.png

Normal school are often about 25,000 baht/1 year while ED school price in Pattaya is always falling. Most are below 15,000 and I saw some of them below 10,000!

I use one ED-school. Whe usually are 2,3 or 4 students. All is in Thai. The book is in Thai with just English translation in the "new words" sections. When the Book 1 is finish the course restart from page 1, until you get the level for Book 2. You have to read, understand, speak, remember. A good way, at least for me.

Check and try several schools and take the one that correspond to you.

Could you give a clue on some names/details of some of the cheaper ED Visa schools in Pattaya Naklua area.

    Many Thanks

  2. Wow I was just about to ask the very same question about a friend of mine from the UK.

Came in on a no visa 30 days on arrival.

So can he get 7 days only at Jomtien immigration? not 2 weeks? and what is the cost?

Otherwise its a boarder run as he wants an additional 2 weeks.

    Many thanks

  3. Big accident yesterday evening, around 6pm in front of the steps at MSM. Two ski's big impact, did not see it but heard it and the shouting from the beach.

When I looked there where two ski's without riders one was rapidly sinking. Some Thais raced out plucked the riders from the water and resurrected the sinking ski.

When they made it to shore about 50yards to the right of the scammer steps, there was a lot of commotion 1 ski was completely smashed front and all down 1 side opened up, the other badly damaged front. One of the riders seemed to be in some pain and had a cut on his foot.

Heard some Thai saying 1 ski 1.5Million, I did not hang about, would be interesting to know the outcome though.

  4. Thanks I know there are lots of different services and solutions out there.

I need these phones for use with a specific business and am really only looking for somewhere to purchase this specific solution.

    Thanks all the same.

  5. Well I was in the Beverly Plaza Hotel last night, first time for a long time due to a diet.

It was as good as ever, in fact the Chicken dish was great, off the bone now, big tender chunks in a lovely rich sauce.

Price up to 220Baht now but no complaints from me, great value IMO.

Now an occasional Indian buffet is back on the menu for me, I will give this Garam Masala a try next time.

  6. You know you cannot legally own a house?

Yes you can, just not the land it is built on.

I am not going to be drawn into the whole house/land land/house company name, 30yr lease, Usufruct debate and I am certainly not going to be the one to try to explain it to the OP.

    My advice still stands.

  7. Flooding can happen after heavy rain, the heaviest rains, probably July - October.

Buy a house as an investment?????? You know you cannot legally own a house?

You sound far too green to be thinking of such a thing, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING!!!!!

RENT, if after a few years when you know your ass from your elbow about how things are in Thailand then buy, but by then you will know that it is in no way going to be an investment YOU will ever see a return from.

  8. What are AdChoices?

    icon_enhanced_notice_lg.jpeg

The AdChoices icon appears on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. While Google often shows you ads based on the content of the page you are viewing, we also show some ads based on the types of websites you visit, view, or where you interact with an ad or other Google product supported by Google's advertising services. In doing this, Google doesn't know your name or any other personal information about you. Google simply recognizes the number stored in your browser on the DoubleClick cookie, and shows ads related to the interest and inferred demographic categories associated with that cookie. It's our goal to make these ads as relevant and useful as possible for you. Google doesn't create categories, or show ads, based on sensitive topics such as race, religion, sexual orientation, or health.

  9. Sad that the city officials are powerless. Let's face it, the mafia and police have more power than the city council and mayor. (They can't even control the number of vendors on the beach.) The city officials are good at setting up music-cultural events for tourists and placing new Dolphin street lights in the city. The cannot stop the jet ski cronies. True, Pattaya is not up to international standards due to lack of power the city has to stop anything that is connected to the mafia... How many pages (26 so far) on this forum, TV and newspaper articles does it take to stop this in a "normal" city around the world? (not this many)

26 pages on this thread and probably 100's in total on the numerous previous closed threads.

  10. I am not so sure this is anything to do with the new chief of police but I think the regular Songkran and Christmas/New Years crackdown.

I had a similar experience last new Years, again there was no bribe going to keep me from an appearance in court but 5K baht did get me out of the cells after only 1 hour and I was allowed to make my own way to court the next afternoon. Official fine was 2700 baht and again another 5K to keep me from another night in the cells and a trip trip Immigration the next day.

One word of warning however and I hope I am wrong on this point, I was told the the trip to Immigration was not just a formality to check your visa status but that having now been convicted in court of a criminal offence that your visa would automatically be cancelled and you would be deported.

I would suggest having cash available, just in case it is needed and it would be great if you could update us on what actually happens.

The best of luck to you!
