So I always thought these crew where Police? No? What is a Municipal Officer? What are their responsibilities?
Why do they have lights on their vehicle and wear, a uniform festooned with coloured stripes. Basically they just look like cops to me?

There is a target priority in the scams regardless:
Bike drivers are more likely to fall victim to the scams
White people are more likely to fall victim to the scams
On those checkpoints you see only thai's getting stopped,
it's not a scam, it's exclusively a search for drugs & guns,
i guess you could say they are at the moment busy doing their job,
no doubt looking forward to peacefully scam money again, next day
I fail to see the scam?
I must have been stopped 100 times now, I have only ever paid a fine when I have broken a law, red light, helmet, speeding, out of date tax.
The other 90 times, paperwork check, on your way.

guys seriously is there an argument here
anyone that thinks pattaya crime rates are better than they were 1 2 ....10 years ago really needs to get with reality - this place is dangerous - very much more than it was one year or ten years ago, shootings rapes bag snatches gangs drugs scams guns corruption...............I recently heard from a good source that current initiation into a thai gang is to shoot a falang ???????? but they love us here don't they ?
Hmm so have there been ANY shootings of Farangs by Thai gangs in Pattaya?
It might help to go to the police station and get all of their records, sort them out, and do a statistical analysis......OR, listen to expats who have been her a long time, the vast majority of which will agree, totally, that crime has skyrocketed over the past 20 years. On your point, my first thought was of the two Russian women who were gunned down in cold blood while sitting on beach chairs in Jomtien. Did a Thai gang have anything to do with it? Maybe the Thai mafia. Who knows for sure. Just two days ago a man from the UK told me about a friend of his who was riding his motorcycle on the dark side at night and was approached by two Thai men on a motorcycle; they produced a gun and told him to stop and give them his money. He gave them his money while they were pointing a gun right at him! Those who think crime has not significfantly increased here over the past few decades are out of touch with reality or somehow connected to the real estate industry, IMHO.
So we have 2 Russians shot in 2007, 1 shooting in 6 years?
Hardly an indication that current initiation into a thai gang is to shoot a falang.

I think if you just continue on Siam CC road all the way to the end you can get to it via the road alongside Bira Circuit, no need to go on the 36 at all. Not sure of the directions though for the last bit.

Just took the MSX for a quick spin. What a fun bike. Looks small, but doesn't feel that way when you are on it. I'm 6' and didn't feel cramped at all. Once into second gear it really takes off. It handles well and coasts right over bumps and potholes.
Here are a few pics of our MSX. Test rides available.
I notice you have gold wheels on that, is that standard? not seeing any pics on the net with gold wheels.
But I NEED yellow

Whilst there has been a fair bit of rain the last few days/week.
It is not the start of the rainy season, will be as hot and dry as ever no doubt soon.

Still not sure about the prices. I'll see if I can find out more later.
Did you find out when, and how much for the CRF Brian?
It will be released in March, but no price yet.
The Forza will be released in February, but again no price yet.
The MSX 125 will be released this month. The MSRP is 66,000.
Went to try and have a look at an MSX in Pattaya today, I had seen a couple in shops as I have been riding around town the last couple of weeks.
Today none, my local shop, Darkside, no have, cannot get. Mytons South Pattaya none, can get 2-3 weeks maybe.
Honda on Suk near South Pattaya Have 1 in black can get any color 1 week.
Not seen any on the road yet either, are they only coming in very small numbers?
Then, the price 73K bike only. I said I had read the MSRP 66K, was told that was a promotional pre order price one day only!
I expressed an interest in Yellow, no, only make in three color Red, Black, White, she even showed me the brochure, which listed the 3 color options.
Hmm somewhat disappointed.

Has anyone informed the Mayor about this? I see his picture all over town. Looks like a nice guy.
I'm sure he would be appalled that a criminal gang, out of their minds on drugs and alcohol, operating on the beach, has been defrauding, assaulting, hostage taking and terrorizing visitors for years, with apparent cooperation of the Royal Thai Police.
Give the Mayor a chance to sort this out.
Presumably you don't know who the mayor is then?
I assume a person of his status in the community had a proper upbringing and would be ashamed if he knew what was happening.
It would be down right immoral and unethical to stand by and do nothing considering his position.
Not sure if you are joking or not?
If not have a read about the family http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somchai_Khunpluem

I have been there many times but only for a short time, never stayed long time.
Some rooms do have aircon, basic rooms, a bargain for short time stays, not sure of long time prices.
Good location, but if you are on the New Plaza side would be noisy from all the bars there, the other side should be ok.

The Princo DVD's are pretty basic. I've been using the slightly more expensive Smartboy brand (a tasteful bright orange colour!) for years and I've hardly ever had a problem with them. My girlfriend just borrowed a 4-DVD TV series I burnt on them 4 or 5 years ago, and they are still fine. Tesco usually has some of the more up-market brands like Sony in stock if you're desperate for them.
Went back to Tukcom and on the top floor there was one seller who had a variety. However, I noticed that at 3:30 this afternoon almost half of the smaller shops were closed. I knoiw there are plans for a nerw Tukcom on Pattaya Klang (although they haven;t even begun groundbreaking).
Haha makes sense, they had probably received a tip off about this :

Fireworks safety video.
If you cant plant it firmly in the ground, just stand it up in the middle of the street, but do try to make sure it is the right way up

Clearly if you are a 'Drugged Up Yob" and you wish to maim/kill government officials you should use a Ferrari instead of a wooden bat to inflict the damage which will then allow you to walk away without charge.
Not sure if you are just trying to be funny, but whatever the in's and out's, rights or wrongs, one was an accident. Not a unprovoked attack.

I am a big fan of the Beverly Plaza, and think it is excellent value for money. I really like the food, they do chop and change the veg dishes, but agree more choice would be a bonus.
All in all though I love it, and seem to end up there far too often. If it was more expensive I would still be happy to visit, although probably not as often.

I am interested in this: "I pay 12,000 baht a month for my 'suite'."
What exactly does a suite consist of?
What is the name of the Hotel?
Thanks

I have never been struck by lightning. By your reasoning then such a thing cannot be possible?

I do hope this event will live up to previous years.
I notice though, previously it was a Fireworks Competition, with I think 8 or 9 countries taking part.
It seems to be billed this year as a Fireworks Festival with 4 countries taking part.
Hopefully not just a shadow of the similarly named past events, designed to cash in on the reputation of the real thing?

I bought my Nouvo SX about 1 1/2 months ago. I strongly prefer Yamaha over Honda or Suzuki for build and looks and I had a 2010 Nouvo which I liked because it was a bigger sized bike with larger wheels, fatter seat and 135cc. Now, the bike is just 125cc which was a little disappointing and the only color that did not have the wire rims (which I detest) in the black one with neon green trim (on the bike and rims). It still is the same size, tires, seat and still rides the same. The only real complaints I have is I am always getting an Er-1 message and my bike has been in the shop twice for it already. The dealer keeps saying it's a loose cable, but after two times in less than two months, it's starting to irritate me and as someone else has already said, the throttle is a bit touchy. Otherwise, it still a nice bike and much better than any Honda or Suzuki I've come across with the only exception of a PCX.
I have had that Er-1 message flash up a couple of times, both times were immediately after starting with the steering on full lock, after straightening up the message disappeared. Will keep an eye on that.
Not sure about the mag wheels and colors comment, all colors are available with wire or mag wheels.

I think you will find and I could be wrong, as I have not bought water at 7/11 for quite a while, as we get it delivered, but a 12 pack of water at 7/11 is less than 90B so yes compared to your 10B per bottle 30B+ saved.
Also, I have read the thread and you have been most amusing thank you.
today at big c pattaya tai, they have 24 pack for 70 baht, you better hurry to grab some
So your customers could be saving 170B.
I get my water delivered, maybe you missed that.

Interesting point of view?
I think what you need to do is just double all of your prices across the board.
Pesky bloody cheap charlie customers <deleted> em all.
BTW maybe some of your customers just happened to be walking past a 7/11. Maybe they needed to purchase something not stocked in your fabulous hotel, maybe they thought hey look water is cheaper here may as well get some while we are here . 12 pack 30B saved, zero time wasted.
Maybe they do not even check the prices in room, many people just work by the rule, buy your own drinks as the in room drinks are always overpriced.

Have a distributor in Pattaya, his contact details are on the website, he will arrange a meet with you at his sign writing business near the tukcom car park.
Don't know how the prices compare to what you are used to, pricing is on the website.
Bought a set up from him a while back but did not take to it, am going to give it another go though soon.
