  1. In the end the front tire was ok. I originally inspected it in hurry, and saw the text 'REAR --> ',

and assumed that it couldn't be used for front. But actually it also contained text '<-- FRONT'.

So it's a dual usage tire. Not so lucky with the rear tire though. It still is a 90/90 *front* tire,

installed against the directional arrow, to the rear of the bike.

Why it took 500km to notice? I didn't actually notice. It was a stranger that just told me that hey, your

tire is installed the wrong way. The text is not very visible in the tire, and i never fully inspected.

papa al: the 90/90 is in the rear. It's 10 mm(?) wider than the stock tire (80/90), but the same height, and it doesn't seem to be

too close to any other parts of the bike. The front tire is also 10mm wider than the stock, and it is pretty close to the fender,

but seems to work all right.

I went to the shop, and the owner was friendly. Still, no joy. He told me not to worry, this is (their) standard operational

procedure, and in fact, no 90/90 rear tires are even available from the suppliers. At least according to this chart:

http://motorcycle.michelin.asia/twproduct/findProduct/moreProduct/196 it doesn't seem that michelin really make such a narrow tire for the

rear, except this odd model '90/90 - 18 57P REINF TL/TT', which might not even be available here.

The way i see it, i have these choices:

a ) keep the front tire in the rear and hope that it works in wet conditions

b ) buy a new stock set of tires for this kind of bike (the michelins seemed to handle better though, at least in dry conditions)

c ) install a 80/90 double usage front/rear tire (like the current front tire) to the rear as well. But this might effect the handling

characteristics of the bike, since this would make front and back tires the equal size, when originally the rear had a wider tire than front.

d ) somehow find a good quality 90/90 rear tire. I doubt i can safely install any wider tires on the current (tubeless) rims.

    papa al:

You wrote in another thread: "Upgrading A Yamaha Nouvo Elegance."

that you upgraded your elegance with:

"The replacement tires were Michelin Pilot Sporty 90/90 rear and 80/90 front."

I guess i didn't mention it, but i also bought Michelin Pilot Sporty's for

nouvo elegance, so it seems that at least on paper, we made the exact same upgrade.

My vendor claimed that 90/90-16 rear tires were not available from supplier.

Could you check your rear tire, does it say front or rear?

I just got a set of these Michelin pilot sporty fitted to my Nouvo SX.

Seems they have done the opposite of the above.

The front 80/90 tyre is dual use front and rear, opposite directional arrows for each use. They have mounted it the wrong way for front use.

The rear 90/90 tyre is a front only tyre and and they have mounted it in the direction of the arrow.

So....... The front is definitely wrong and I will get them to change it.

But the rear???? It is correct direction going by the arrow but is actually a front tyre, so going by the dual use tyre should be mounted against the direction of the arrow????

Should I try to get the rear reversed also?

    Or just leave it?

  2. I promised myself some Michelin Pilot sporty's, after hearing recommendations here.

Never did get round to it, but now I need a new back tyre, badly cracked.

Went to Maxxis in Pattaya, again recommended here on TV. Was told they can no longer get them in the required size and he was waiting on a new replacement model, however no idea when this is likely to be.

So now I am a bit stuck as I cannot wait and I really dont want to get another stock tyre.

I was wanting to go up a size and get 80/90/16 front and 90/90/16 rear.

Anyone who can recommend something? And hopefully where I may purchase in Pattaya.

    Thanks :)

  3. i know its been mentioned before but, "Everyday is Fryday" in new Plaza (2 doors from the Golden Ferret), fish and chips for 99b not only great value, but great tasting too.

The Jolly Fryer on Diana is the same price for their local white-fish fry, which is way better than the 2x imported cod.

Jolly Friar is not on Soi Diana Inn, but Soi Leng Kee.

And it was neither better or the same price as Everyday is a Fryday, the last time I was there.

To me, soi Diana runs the lenght to 3rd Road so it is SOI DIANA! As for the fish and chips, Ok, B 100 is not the same as B99; as to to your opinion, well it's like <deleted> as they say...

Well maybe to you, Soi Leng Kee is the same as Soi Diana and B149 is the same as B99. But you know, facts are facts.

Opinions may differ, but in my opinion the fish and chips in New Plaza is both better and cheaper :)

  4. Missing plane: How did a UK firm track the plane?

It has been announced that the missing flight MH370 crashed in the southern Indian Ocean - with information based on analysis from British satellite firm Inmarsat.

They were able to work out the flight went south after comparing previous Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 flights' satellite data with flight MH370.

Inmarsat's senior vice president for external affairs, Chris McLaughlin, told the BBC's Richard Westcott that the firm studied electronic "pings" sent from the plane.

  5. Nokia in Central Festival closed a long time ago. Jmart in central will have it. Also you will find genuine models in Tuk Com, there is a Nokia reseller in the far back left hand corner, also the bigger place near the escalators sells mainly Apple and Samsung will have them.

Contrary to popular belief no one in Tuk Com will be selling you a copy as real. If they say it is genuine and it priced as the genuine article it will be the real deal. There are no copies of the 1020 around anyway (apart from cheap plastic that looks vaguely like a 1020). For an item at that cost though I too would prefer to use a proper shop.

I went to Central Plaza in Chonburi to buy mine, that is the closest actual Nokia shop, but that was a few days before the official release date and nowhere else had them at that time. Take a day trip there very nice mall :)

BTW there is an official Nokia service center in Pattaya if you have any problems, in the road alongside the Big C south Pattaya Sukhumvit .

  6. I too have had a gun pulled on me for daring to beep my horn at a car that blatantly moved across on me while riding my motorbike causing me to take evasive action.

It's hard sometimes but really the only way to deal with this stuff here is indeed shake your head, because a confrontation of any kind is just not worth it.

  7. The rental business also has a duty of care. Did they even check to see if he was licenced? These things are very dangerous in the hands of inexperienced and unlicenced riders. Bothe rider and rental operator should be facing charges and be required to pay all medical costs.

I've never seen a jet ski license. Where do you get one?

Australia. You must complete a course before you are granted a licence for a jetski and you are also subject to drink driving laws whilst on the water or involved in a collision with your jetski.

Good grief, is Australia the ultimate nanny state? bah.gif

  8. I'm surprised that anybody is surprised by this. There will be people blaming red shirts or yellow shirts but unless one of the attackers is caught nobody will know for sure (opinions is not knowing, it's opinions) But looking back over recent history including what's happening in Syria as we speak, it's fair to say most peaceful protests end up in bloodshed, Egypt, Algeria, and of course Thailand. Suthep and his backers would have been well aware of this when they started this campaign yet didn't give a rat's about the consequences nor the trail of inevitable dead bodies to come.

Whatever the underlying reasons, this whole campaign was a bad idea, on more than one level.

Yes, of course. Should just have all kept quiet and let PTP whitewash their boss, bring him home and loot 2.2 trillion. At least their boss was fully aware of the consequences of his 2010 insurrection. "I shall be with you when the first shot is fired" - yeah right.

What would you have done? Kept quiet, drank a cup of tea and waited until their 4 year term was up?

Violence is wrong, but so is lying, cheating, ignoring and breaking the law, and corruption when you are the government, elected or not.

Ok protest, they have an early election now. That should be an end of it.

Campaign and vote that is what a democracy is!!

If the opposition cant win so be it.

  9. You thought you were entitled to your 'lovely view' free of charge and took absolutely no action to preserve what may be the only redeeming asset of your property.

Now that some-one else has taken the lead and compromised your situation you're crying in your beer.

Get a grip on the situation and adopt a little sense of humility. Talk to those concerned and admit that you made a mistake and want to remedy the situation. Regarding bluster, you have nothing in your favor.

    Good Luck

    Jerry

Wrong on all counts, have you even read my comments in this thread?

I received the information I wanted within the first few posts, thanks for that.

I would have kept the thread open to let people know how things turn out, may have been interesting for some.

But can't be bothered with all the wanky remarks.

    So, Mods please close, Thanks

  10. The neighbour ie house next door are buying the land behind their house not mine, as i understand it at least. They have not even moved in yet so do not know, when I see them I will certainly ask them about it.

I guess it possible they have bought all? But I think unlikely.

The land owner, of the large expanse of land behind the estate is putting up the wall. Can only be for the reason to block me, unless above is true?

I am not going to war with anyone over it, just posted here to be clear what the situation was.

I can see there is nothing I can do about it, essentially he can do what he wants.

Yes there could be some misunderstandings going on and I hope there is. I will speak with the landowner myself when I can and hope we can resolve the matter.

All has gone quiet for now there is no one next door and no work has resumed on the wall, I don't even really know who the land owner is or how to contact him so will just have to wait and see what happens.

  11. Thanks for the replies.

Seems I don't have much on my side here.

The option to buy the land is still there I am sure, in fact I am sure the whole thing is about getting me to buy the land.

As you can see there is absolutely no reason for the wall apart from inconveniencing me , it is to be a special wall that only runs the width of my plot, There are a few houses further round that have a similar design backing onto the land I don't think they are having issues.

I really don't know why this is happening now, apart from next door buying a plot behind their house? Nothing has changed, I think the house has been here about 10 years now.

Still I have never spoken to the land owner myself, told the workers to go get him yesterday, they never came back and as yet have not returned today.

Maybe letting me sweat it out?

Seems there is nothing I can do apart from try to talk reason to him, haha

I am not interested in buying the land at any price, For reasons not to go into here I think I will be exiting this situation soon enough anyway and i am sure I will not be taking anything with me, so I will not be increasing my investment here.

The house is on the Darkside yes, Soi 15 Nong Kiet Yai

As of now for sale, view negotiable, if anyone is interested.

  12. Looking for some advise. So we bought this house just over 4 years ago.

Great view out of the back of the house,

    post-60867-0-28638500-1385535559_thumb.j

OK so I knew that there where no guarantees that come with that staying forever. When we bought the house we where told if we wanted to we could buy some extra land there and make a garden, as next door had already done.

    post-60867-0-08055700-1385535077_thumb.j

You can see the land they bought in the right of this photo. I have never had any interest in doing so.

Recently the house on our other side, which is joined to us as a we are a semi detached, was sold. Then I heard through the grape vine via the girlfriend that they wanted to buy the land behind their house. Did we want to buy the land behind us also, think they where saying 700,000 Baht, not sure and never asked any more as I have no interest in buying it at all.

Yesterday the girlfriend was told by the land owner that next door had bought, and that as we had not he was going to build a wall so we could not see the land

Today a load of rubble turns up and some workers set about making a foundation, right flush against my boundary. When I asked what they where doing, build wall here, how high? 2 meters.

You can see in this last picture, how this will not only block any view, but also completely all light to the rear of the house. Basically bricking up what are effectively 2 very big windows. There are the 2 sections shown and another 2 to the right which are open to the garden to the side of the house.

Now as the house is semi detached, and with the way it is designed there is only windows to the main living area front and back. Loosing all the light from the rear would be a disaster.

Now I told the workers no way, go get me the land owner, whom I have never spoken to directly and never previously had any problems with.

Do I have a leg to stand on?

Is there not any distance he must leave between his wall and my boundary?

I really have no interest in buying the land, but looks like he thinks he can hold me to ransom.

    Any advise appreciated.

Oh by the way this is in Pattaya if that makes any difference.

  13. I used to work for a big high street electrical retailer in the UK, for many many years.

Back in the day, if a light bulb needed changing then someone would just change the bloody thing.

By the time I left, we needed subcontractors, who we could only call if we had more than 30% of lights out in any area and in more that 30% of the areas in store. Of course they charged a fortune and supplied all the hardware also at extortionate prices.

Probably one of the reasons why we also changed over the years from providing people with an honest service and providing the products they needed. To trying to rip the fuc_kers off for everything we could get.

    Corporate Bullshit!
