  1. Opened an account for a tourist friend yesterday at SCB. No problem. Always approach with a positive attitude and thoughts, trust your higher power and let go of the results. I've seen more negative people approach Thais demanding things then get frustrated that they didn't get what they wanted. You will receive abundance, all in good time. Be patient and flexible.

now that is very good advice.

sometimes with thai things i have found it depends who you talk to on the day,but the above advice will get anyone alot further than confrontation.

  2. apart from the money why would Kaka want to join a club in the bottom 3 of the premier league?IMO they need defenders not attakers........................they got sturridge, ireland wright phillips, robinho, and more but they leek goals!

Problems are in the dressing room and should be sorted first.

  3. The very best way to "wake up" is to kick start your body in the morning.

    Simple enough, make it work.

Easy way, when you wake up, head to the kitchen, pour yourself a tumbler of cold water (colder the better) and force yourself to drink it.

First up it alleviates the dehydration everyone has when they wake up.

Second, the cold forces your body to start to work to warm that water up inside.......the water pulls in the internal heat from the body, and the body must start to work to generate more heat to replace that lost energy used in warming the cold water up.

    Don't beleive it..........try it...........

30 minutes or so after that, have your morning cup of tea or coffee as normal.......

cold water or cold anything is bad for the kidneys, try water at room temperature with a squeeze of fresh limes.that wakes the body up.

  4. how did you manage to turn off your brain(serious question).

Just tell it "to shut up"! and then forget about it!

It is not hat easy. I have to think about not thinking. A conscious thought to stop having conscious thoughts. Lately I just start counting. That is boring. Boredom is the absence of thought. Thus, sleep.

yes i do the same but find it quite difficult, often resort to a pill to help, but would like to do without.

  5. don't hold your breath for getting any answers relating to your question. a couple of years ago i (actually my lawyers) have scoured all kind of sources and could not detect a single case.

nevertheless, since 2½ years numerous warnings were posted in this forum that "any time from now" the big crackdown will start, criminals who formed a company and brought millions into the country to build homes, buy cars, planning to spend more millions for living expenses in future will be arrested, sentenced to many years of hard labour and after serving their sentence deported to an isolated island. the illegally acquired land, their homes and all their belongings will be auctioned off, the proceeds will be given to the poor and their wives and daughters sold as slaves to wealthy a-Y-rabs.

sometimes i think you spend too much time sitting in bars in walking street dreaming up your replies.........but they are funny.

  6. My writing coach taught me never to write up a story about people awakening suddenly, sitting bolt upright and awake. Nobody does that. I stop drinking caffeine about 7:30 pm, and finish later with chocolate milk or a little, weak wine. I have only recently learned to turn off my brain after lying down. You appear to be in good health, and could probably work yourself into new habits. Try not to think yourself into a new way of behaving. Act your way into new habits of thinking.

how did you manage to turn off your brain(serious question)its my big problem to getting to sleep Have always been a light sleeper.

  7. Seems to me that it's a copy-cat crime...I guess he heard about last weeks lewd acting foreign couple on the beach somewhere :o But does seem a silly thing to do...risking his job and visa situation for a beach shag! As for me, I'm always wondering what would happen if I got some sand "in there." Wouldn't it hurt both people like h#ll?

the sand would be self cleansing, bit like a face scrub.............ouch!

  8. I'm sure I probably won't get the answer I'm looking for. But anyways I'm gonna try on here. Today went with a friend to this expat lunch being held at Sila Evasion Hideaway, the cost 800 baht per person. Ok so

1st. 800 baht for a get together sounds stupid for that price but ok, i'll pay it go with a open mind ( includes buffet food )

was lots of people came but mostly few people talking and mostly just under the sun drinking wine, lot of europeans though but thats fine, talked with a few people there, most seem just to come seemed like cause they have nothing to do, so quite a few people really well dressed up. Meet an older gentleman there sat with me, asked him about people coming do they really ever discuss like normal things how's business, whats new, how do you think the year will go, he told me nothing like that more or less just people with nothing to do and looking for money to do business with. Not really a group interested in being down to earth. All parties are held at hotels ( ok so when many people get together understand you got to have a place to hold all these people ) Buffet ok, miniature servings of everything, mostly felt disappointed going, seemed more like some fake event most smiles didn't even seem geninue, and most where serious, didn't see any smiling faces really, at 800 baht i've had way better food than that for 800 baht. Anyway if all the upclass people are going to this where the heck are all the normal people hanging out at who are down to earth and actually talk about real things and aren't so fake

an interesting question. What are you doing on Samui?working, retired, long holiday.I guess from your post you are not working cos you'd have a bunch of people to hang out with, and meet more people.I dont know the answer to your question, depends on your situation here.

From my experience there are some kindred spirits here and i've found them from the area in which i live, also from fequenting bars here. You will meet some no hopers too,and you will meet the fly by nighters.Just have get out and about, and sort them out, takes time.

  9. am not a liverpool supporter.watched the game last night.now stoke can be a difficult team to beat, but what happened to liverpool yesterday?

Stevie gerarrd looked like he had other things on his mind(maybe he has),where was alonso?and why just play kuiyt upfront?

And my big question...............what is the problem between benitez and keane/keane is continually being left on the bench?you guys got any answers!

  10. good morning "flying" i accept your post as a piss take of me for my comments re alex lah..........but as they say in OZ "fair crack of the whip" mate.

    Good Morning

No that is not what I meant at all. I just know that he ( Alex ) always calls us all sheeple...Also think he is just joking too.

    So you from Oz then?

yes mate, from brisbane.i actually think a lot of alex's points are in reality a foretaste of the future, but non of us really know how and how soon it will pan out but i do enjoy his posts. If to alex he is joking,"never a truer word spoken in jest".cant think of 2 better places to be,thailand and australia, what we see happening in the USA and UK is scary indeed.all the best.

  11. your disciples are watching and listening oh great one.

good morning "flying" i accept your post as a piss take of me for my comments re alex lah..........but as they say in OZ "fair crack of the whip" mate.Actually do see merit in alex's view of the future, but on the other hand i see "the end coming"before the events that alex foresees.keep the debate going its interesting.

  12. And for those still curious by the rationale behind and the realities of the Lewes Pound, which is not dissimilar from the pioneer Bia Kud Chum in Ban Santisuk, look here:

Roll on the next alternative currency in Thailand........... :o

another big problem today(IMO)also' is many of the cities today have become too large and to some extent unmanageable(cities like LA,London, washington DC for example)I dont really believe we were meant to co habit in large cities, but rather in smaller communities.and its where these local currencies work and i think it would have the effect of keeping the wealth created, in these communities. As a result more families would not need to be separated for economic reasons, and the society in general would benefit. Most of today's problems stem from the industrial revolution 2 centuries ago, which encouraged people to travel distances to earn money.again in the early 1960's technology expanded consumer goods, much of which we really did n't need.to sell all these consumerables ,the credit card was invented,to spend what we did n't have.now in 2008 its all come home to roost.so in conclusion i think people should be encouraged to return to live back in smaller communities,to produce things that people really need, using their local currency.

  13. hi, my Thai licence expires in 12 days... where can I renew it in Samui ? what do I need to bring ?

    Thanks for your help

    Kevin

the ministry of transport is past nathon, turn right at sign for lipa noi beach and its just passed jonny's cafe on left hand side.

you will need to get a certificate of residence from immigration at nathon,i think 300baht,photo copy of passport page with photo on,and i'm not sure but i think page showing what visa you have.you can apply for a 5 year licence if you want.also 2 photo's which you can get at the shop just outside transport dept. office. If your bringing recent photo's with you ,make sure they are the small size, not passport size.to get the certificate of residence you should take along evidence of where you live on samui too.i think i've covered the basics.

  14. This sort of thing doesnt even make the news back home in oz....i kept waiting for the real exciting bit to start. :o

he'd just found out the aussie govt were n't going to give him a pension in 15 years time if he stayed in thailand.

  15. Thanks guys. Officially, that is on paper, it is a Thai-owned company. Unofficially, it is owned and run by foreigners. They will probably get away with not paying anything at all, trying to sue them will not help much. They have no money, I could take some of the inventory with me though, until they pay me out... :o . I'll keep you posted if anyone is interested. Cheers

sorry to hear, but yes you cant get blood out of a stone, when it comes to situations like thissometimes the farangs are worse than thai owners,my motto in thailand is trust no one, which is sad but keeps you safe.

  16. If and when the sh-t hits the fan, thats your thai bank shuts its doors, atm machines close down, and before that happens i would have thai baht stashed under the bed or whereever you consider safe,a credit card for getting a flight out.

to access money from home if the internet has been zapped in cyberspace use western union(they expensive but fast)and you can pick money up within the hour of it being sent at any post office you have nominated to the sender.

If the sattelites that transmit moble phone messages have been blown up and house to house phones disconnected, revert back to plan a,cah under the bed,or plan 2 ,the credit card.
