  1. I have the same problem as the OP. Your idea sounds like a great solution, I will try it. Thanks!
  2. We all know that the justice system in this country is FUBAR. A 13 year old is raped but the police are not motivated to act - maybe waiting for an "incentive". My first thought is - where is the father of this child? And (in the absence of lawful justice) maybe he should arrange some "justice" of his own.
  3. Sometimes it's more advantageous to allow suspects to leave the country. Thaksin, Yingluk, and Boss come to mind.
  4. A photo of the cat and a nice message on the vet's facebook page.
  5. And the Phuket News article has the same photo as the OP. We are not permitted to post links to Phuket News.
  6. If it was self defence then it wasn't murder.
  7. And, if he doesn't win, what an auspicious date for an insurrection.
  8. Would it be possible (and less expensive) to book your return flights to the UK then book separate flights UK/France in between those dates. I.E. - Thailand to UK - UK to France - France back to UK - UK to Thailand. The UK to France return can be a cheap ticket and not too much lost if cancelled.
  9. This is the Q&A, Ask the Consular Team forum, but I don't think the consular team are still reading it, although (AFAIK) it was them that started it. Nothing more recent than 2020 on its pages. EDIT: Correction, the consular team has posted recently.
  10. I don't have a high regard for Thai police. But, holding a police officer in a headlock and taking away his firearm!!! I fully expect that lengthy prison sentences will follow (unless the two perps can afford to pay their way out))
  11. Seems obvious that the guy was drunk and not capable of giving consent to having the tattoo. I'd say that the tattoo "artist" (and any of his prankster mates) should be prosecuted for assault. Plenty of non permanent pranks are available if you need your fun.
  12. If I recall correctly, the drilling (30m deep) including pipes and pump to the surface, cost 19,000 THB. Then I had to connect the water and power to the house myself and fit some valves to separate the house supply from the garden irrigation (maybe 3 or 4 thousand - plus my own hard labour). No solar (maybe later) @owl sees all could probably tell you whether your quote is reasonable.
  13. Unless I've missed something, I think your calculation is a bit off. 24 tonnes is 24,000kg. 1 cubic metre of pork weighs a little more than 1 cubic metre of water (1 tonne). So 24 tonnes would occupy the space of approx. 24+ cubic metres.- less than one 40' container.
  14. When my wife had a bore hole drilled on her land near Surin, the drilling rig arrived on the back of a normal size pick-up. I guess the size of the rig will depend on the depth of the bore and the soil/rock. Not my photo, but similar to this ... and very, very rusty.
  15. Yes, he's still on page 1. The leaning tree was still upright in those days.
  16. Seems like a fair verdict and they deserve prison time for their neglect. Maybe (hopefully) other parents of disturbed kids will learn something from this, but I doubt it.
  17. I agree, but I would prefer if they were kept in the dark about cheese. I often find bogof deals in Big C when cheeses are nearing their "sell by" date. IMO these cheeses are even better tasting than when they were fresh on the shelves, but the locals are not buying them. I love me a ripe Brie or Camembert, especially at half price.
